I responded to an urgent need for blood donations, completed all registration on-line before I went, received notification in the morning confirming my appointment, and to be on-time. Freeway entrance was unexpectedly closed so I had to take side streets and rush so as not to be late. Drove about 30 minutes but arrived on-time. Then told that the people taking blood were on lunch break and they could not take me for one hour, but if I want, I can wait, but there is another person in line in front of me who was also told to wait for an hour. What about the appointment I asked, that you made me confirm just this morning? Well, we are sorry about that they said. What about the people who are scheduled after me, will everyone be waiting? Well, I told them I have other appointments and am unable to wait an hour. Very interesting because the prior time I went to give blood I was 10-15 minutes late and was told they can't take me because I was late. Well, I guess the emails saying there is a critical blood shortage has not been communicated to the staff. Anyway, I will find a different location in the future to donate blood.

The 1st time I went here I had no problems, there was a male nurse that was doing my blood, but when I tried donating again either I would feel lightheaded and they would turn me down which I understand why, some nurses in there were fine but some like the male nurse I had acted like they didn’t want to be there

I started donating blood to ARC at MSU a lifetime ago. Pretty sure the new college nurses used us for practice. Such is not the case in Warren. They know what they are doing and work as a team. I've seen the Sr staff members training new staff. Unless we move I won't go elsewhere!

Drove 30 minutes to get to Red Cross. Very disappointed when I was turned away WITH AN APPOINTMENT due to lack of staff. I do not meet qualifications for double red and did not have 2 hours to donate plasma. If you are not going to have staff, do not have appointments available. Very disappointed they did not call or text to cancel appointment before I drove all the way there.

Zero stars would be more appropriate. I have 0- CMV- blood, they call it "baby's blood" because it can be given to little ones in need. Because of this, I have given blood for years, I usually make my next appointment right after each donation because being a donor is important to me. I have shown up to this location for an early morning appointment on more than one occasion to find a sign on the door telling donors the location is closed for the day. No phone call, just forced to reschedule. I have also shown up at appointments here early and waited patiently until way after my appointment time to be seen. So today - on the day of what should be my 80th donation - 10 GALLONS- I am running behind by 10 minutes. I arrive, apologetic with rapid pass already completed and ready to go, only to be told they are ONLY taking on time appointments today due to staffing issues and I will need to reschedule. So I asked - do they need blood or not? Because I get constant emails about the need, I was asked by the Red Cross to confirm my appointment two days ago, and I did. I protest. We are talking 10 minutes here, seriously? I explain the type of blood I have and that it is important to me to give. The greeter went back to talk to the guy who told her to send me away and then he came up front. I am told maybe within the hour but there are staffing issues. So I said - "I don't mind waiting but asking me to leave is ridiculous. I'm a donor here, willing to donate - that 10 minutes made all the difference and you'd rather just send me away?" He said yes because of staffing issues. I asked him why they offer appointments, he said there is a disconnect between those making new appointments and those taking the blood at the center, that the appointment setters would have people lined up out the door if they had their way.No line was forming behind me, no one waiting ahead of me, just me there waiting here feeling like a bother. I was brought back to a room for a second - it was a mistake, she thought I was a platelet donor. So back to the waiting area I go. I informed her no one had even checked me in yet so she scanned my card - probably about 30 minutes after I arrived. Instead of a donor giving for the 80th time today, I got to feel like a bother. Disappointed, I sat there on the verge of tears and ready to walk out because, despite walking past me, no one here even come by to say one word except when I was mistakenly taken back. Another couple of people walked in, got checked in right away, and told someone would be with them shortly. They were platelet donors. I was told to move down to the seat at the end of the row to be out of the way because the people who walked in are platelet donors and they go in first since I was late. By 10 minutes. Almost an hour ago. And that is where I sat thinking about this. There are plenty of people who do not donate. Donors do not HAVE to give, they choose to, the folks at this location forget that. I will never come to this location again. As a matter of fact, I decided to leave, and used my app to schedule an appointment a week from now at another location. To be clear, it wasn't the waiting I took issue with, it is that I have never been made to feel like such an inconvenience and burden for wanting to donate blood, and that's the "staffing issue" that matters to me. The staff here need to appreciate their donors, this is the worst I have ever been treated by a Red Cross location.

Waited over 30 minutes before walking out. No one came and provided an excuse. They act like I am inconveniencing them. looks dirty, the first time I gave them is the last. I will give again in Ann Arbor where I have done so 3 times. Professional, helpful and clean. Even offered me a blanket because I forgot to bring one of my own. platelets needed, I wish I could have given.

I had a very pleasant experience donating platelets. Brianna is very sweet.Comfortable chair, kind Red Cross workers. I watched a movie as I gave platelets. Bring your favorite cozy blanket and a mask ? to wear.

The phlebotomist left the tourniquet on way too tight for the duration of my donation. She placed the needle in and then quickly went into a private room right away with another patient without telling me she was leaving or that another employee will be assisting me in the meantime. She was very rushed and also couldn’t use one of the blood sample tubes because she was going too fast. Now I have nerve irritation and issues with my arm due to their negligence. Not sure if she was inexperienced but they seemed very understaffed and not a good customer service experience.

I was 6 minutes late for a 3-hour platelet donation and was given a “talking to” about being on time. I’ve been donating platelets for years at other centers without issue. However, two out of the 3 times I’ve been at the Warren center now, they were either rude, unprofessional and/or borderline negligent. I worked in healthcare for 10 years and know the difference, though I assume for most it would also be hard to ignore. The last time, the tech nearly completely ignored me and had a personal discussion with her coworkers throughout the procedure. I assume it’s easy enough to pay attention to a donor while you’re working with them for 5 minutes, and to perhaps check back in with them at least every 1/2 hour or so. They finally checked on me only when I had 10 minutes left to go.I recommend setting an alarm for those who have difficulty remembering to do it and some sort of professionalism training for the staff.Needless to say, I will be donating elsewhere in the future.

Not a positive experience! Power Red donation scheduled. Needle was inserted incorrectly, no issue on my part, staff unapologetic, was given a ice pack and told I had to wait 8 weeks before donating again. Even with Rapid Pass after 1 hour and 15 min all I received was a large bruise and not even a thank you for my time, extremely disappointed with my experience here. Tried to save a life...sadly I couldn't!

Just got turned away from a drive for being late for my appointment. There were no signs, no evidence of a drive. Maybe turning away your O neg, CMV neg donors isn't the best practice. Don't worry I'll explain it all when you call me to ask why I haven't donated recently.I did give 3 stars because this was the first bad experience. I'm not going to completely penalize the Red Cross for one bad employee.
