Aaron Brothers Framing within Michaels Store, Walker, Mi.

In May, 2024 I came back with 2 more framing projects after a 2022 simple frame purchase, matting and glass for a chalk drawing and a document worth framing.

Again, I made an online appointment. Kendra was extremely helpful and patient as Project #2 shifted from hanging 14 individual frames, due to my insistence on matching them to a specific residence color, to a pending disaster. We discovered someone crudely scissored each photo into its 25+ year standup frames into non-standard sizes. Never fazed by each twist and turn, Kendra had a solution. Sometimes multiple ones. Pairing or tripling photos in frames with expert matting to disguise the irregularities Her value to the project far exceeded the price paid. The multi-generation photo project made Kendra’s value an investment. Not an expense.

Project #3 was a cake walk by comparison. A 36”H x 33”W print had faded. I brought the new print to Kendra for her magic touch. We unrolled it from the shipping box only to discover it was a landscape unlike the previous portrait shape due to the museum and artist’s recognition along the bottom of the faded print. In a heartbeat Kendra found a medium brown landscape frame, from more than 100’s from Aaron Brothers Co. inventory, to bring out subtle browns in the new print. Ahhh. An opportunity to ditch the original, outrageously ugly, gold frame.

Every project finished by the promised date. Obviously Aaron Brothers and Michaels hire experts for all their skills. But, I had the good fortune to work with Kendra. If you have a complicated or high value frame project make an online appointment and ask for Kendra. I was never disappointed and am certain you have the same success.”

“What a pleasant surprise! I was driving through and searched for a yarn store to break up the drive. They have a great selection of high quality yarns and so many demos knitted up! Both yarns I bought were because of seeing how well they knitted up in particular patterns. The store reminded me of beloved LYSs in other states that have all gone out of business in the last decade or so - I wish this store were closer to me so I could come often (I live about 3 hours away). “I've spent a good number of paydays ripping packs from this store over the past couple of months. It became a rush to spend hundreds chasing that feeling of being a kid pulling something good and being able to afford it. While there is sort of a negative experience that follows, don't get me wrong, this is a great shop to buy from and discuss products with. They're knowledgeable when it comes to making a sale about prospect sports cards to collect and it's fun to discuss stuff like that with them. However as many of other reviews attest to, be forewarned if you approach about buying cards that you've pulled and believe to be valuable. There's a clear discrepancy between their knowledge and their desire to make a profit when it comes to appraising specific items. Outside of the standard that they're only going to give you 50% or so of comps you find on the web and half of it will be store credit which is fine and expected, they'll say and do things like if you're selling a raw card attempt to tell you your card will not grade high if sent to PSA when there's no realistic evidence of that. All of a sudden that same energy they have getting you to buy and rip the packs like "Try to find this guy!" becomes very negative when you do hit the big card and talk to them about offers. I had short prints of some of the biggest names people are buying from every sport (Victor Wembanyama, CJ Stroud and Caitlin Clark) and not to disrespect an employee by calling him out, he claimed they were going to end up in a bargain bin and they couldn't take a loss on an offer. Some were evaluated as base cards when they were hologramed or chrome refractors. In my opinion the market may be getting overflooded with those but a numbered card or rare insert or auto should still hold up. I made an agreement so this is on me, but next thing my cards were in the display case for a good $40 each more than I received from them.There's no hard feelings and I know that the situation was all a matter of perspective which is why I'm not going 1 star or anything because they are good guys who just enjoy sports like I do and I appreciated recently finding them one day as part of getting back into collecting. It's just the selling that I advise to proceed with caution.”
