I waited and sat in an empty lobby for 30 minutes and over 15 staff members ignored and did not care to help. They were busy talking with eachother and socializing rather than working which is unfortunate for the animals in this shelter. It’s quite sad that the staff here cares more about keeping the animals inside of the shelter than finding them a loving home. The staff was so negligent to the people coming in to see the animals. They are proactively keeping these animals from finding a safe and good home. When I voiced my concerns for how they were negligent they all went into attack mode. It was like a group of high school girls who wanted to be bullies. 0/10 absolutely no class or grace. There are plenty of shelters around with loving and caring staff that put the animals first, rather than their personal pleasures.

We began volunteering here in November 2023 in order for my 13 year old granddaughter to start working with animals since she wants to be a Veterinarian. It is a no kill shelter and very clean, The staff is very friendly and kind and takes very good care of the dogs, cats, goats, horses and 1 adorable, very happy pig. We go weekly and most times they get adopted very quickly so there's usually a new group when we go. Also there is a spay and neuter clinic and they have access to Vet care to make sure the animals are healthy and ready for adoption ASAP!

Call these people if you want ZERO HELP, ZERO SUGGESTIONS, ZERO COMPASSION and if RUDENESS (af) rings your bell. They're not there to help you or animals. Period. We were able to catch three (adorable) stray kittens living under our house on Christmas Day. As a result, I've spent the past two days looking to relinquish them to a no kill shelter in hope that they'd find a good & loving home. I contacted several local shelters, humane society and animal control centers only to get no help. No suggestions and passed off. I spoke with a person at this facility yesterday and was told to call back tomorrow to speak with someone about fostering the kittens. When I called back magically there is no room.... I think you live in another service area... every excuse under the Sun. There's also no suggestions - other than to try and pawn my call off to another community. Not even an offer of a telephone number, website, pamphlet, brochure... Guess I sounded too AFRICAN AMERICAN to get serviced today. Note to this facility - get out of this kind of business if your intent is NOT to be a RESOURCE FOR THE COMMUNITY YOU SERVE. Totally understand that you can't save every creature also that sometimes things aren't possible but if it's your MISSION to care for animals... would be nice if at minimum you acted like you give a damn about the cause. Grosse Pointe shelter was the only facility that actually offered suggestions/ideas to help these animals. Well done! Heads above all the rest who are just lip service.

They double booked me and another family to see a dog the same daynand same time, got my kids hopes up for nothing then tried to get us to buy another dog... That's just wrong. We met the dog first and did everything before the other family even met the dog. I've never been more frustrated in my life, my kids are heartbroken

Wonderful experience adopting our cat. The staff is great and they truly care for the cats/kittens in their care.
