“It was a nice place overall, but little things made it just an okay stay. Beds were awesome. So comfy!

Later checkout than other hotels, and a really decent breakfast. However, that being said, the shower was low pressure, no big, but the lights in the bathroom were motion sensitive, so after being in the shower 15 minutes, it turned itself off.

The shower also whined while running, which again, no big, but when both rooms on either side of us had the same issue at 7 am, it was not a great way to wake up. We were in the second floor and apparently right beneath the water pipes because we could hear every single time someone flushed a toilet, like we were in then basement or something. We were gathering our stuff to checkout and looking under tables/couch for lost toys, and found someone's nicotine vape under the couch. We went to the pool with our kids and it was supposed to be open until 10. At
9:52, without warning, the lights turned off in the room, leaving the pool lights. At 9:56, again without warning, all the lights were turned off and we were left in pitch darkness with 2 other families. Construction was being done in the parking lot and machines were making noises (back up beeping and large machinery moving) around 5 am on a Saturday. Construction equipment being in the parking lot made parking inconvenient. Someone blocked a stairwell door with a luggage cart (in a fire, people would have been trapped) and stairwell doors to the parking lot were propped open.”

“Some of the recent reviews mention that the hotel is dirty and not properly renovated; this was not my case when I stayed here. The rooms were a little rough on the edges, but were very clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly, 3pm check in and noon checkout, room was ready upon arrival. For the fair price I paid, I got an efficiency apartment with full kitchen (large fridge, microwave, coffee maker, stove, toaster, dishes) and king size bed and couch. It's tucked away from the traffic, but close to many stores, restaurants, and attractions. Parking lot felt safe and well lit. I'd stay here again.”

“This is a wonderful property. I have immediate family in the area and stay here regularly for a variety of reasons; sometimes happy (celebrations), sometimes sad (medical treatments, funerals, etc). While I deeply appreciate that it's clean and comfortable, what truly sets the Hyatt Place Detroit / Royal Oak apart is its incredible staff. So many of them are great, and Courtney is consistently the MVP. He's so friendly and skilled and funny and willing to go the extra mile. I also love that they have a simple bar where you can go to kick off a night out or unwind at the end of the night. I feel fortunate to have this option in the area, and I look forward to heading back to stay over Christmas week. Keep up the good work!”

“I stay at a lot of Marriotts. Fortunately, my work schedules my stays mostly within the Bonvoy family, and I've seen from good to bad throughout the years. This hotel ranks among the top, and not just because of the wonderful, handwritten note! The rooms are absolutely spectacular, with great water pressure in the shower, and the overall room and hallway decor created a warm, homey feeling. I'm super impressed. My previous stay in the area was at the Residence Inn, and I don't think I want to go back there again unless it's been totally revamped.

I also wanted to give a shout out to the staff at the breakfast buffet. Top-notch!”

The beds were clean and comfortable. Very quiet. The breakfast was great with seating. And also on the second floor with access from the Lobby.

Rooms: Very clean

Food and drinks: Plenty of restaurants around. Recommend the chicken Shack.”

“What a life saver in a time crunch. We had a previous hotel reserved. On arrival we noticed the place to look well. On the outside. People were leaving due to multiple bug infestations. Upon further reviews and history we couldn't stay there. It was completely gross.
That's when we found Sonesta Simply Suites. The staff was incredibly sweet and understanding. Helped us figure out a room and at a better rate than the previous place. Very informative and helpful with us not knowing the area.
I could not have been more satisfied with the way this hotel is run. The rooms themselves were immaculately clean. Full refrigerator, two top stoves, dishwashers, dishes and pots and pans. Down stairs upon asking, she has extra for free use. Like crockpots and more pots and pans. Games for families.
To put it this way, all hotels should learn from this one. True customer service all the way around! Cleanliness and care for the hotel is obviously seen throughout.
Highly, highly, highly recommend!”

“I’ve booked a room through hotels.com with rating 9.2 which is really good for hotels this type.
But when I started to look at reviews here, I was in shock and was not sure if we are going to stay there.
People who complain about cleaning, what kind of cleanness you expect? Everything was clean, I saw cleaners downstairs constantly cleaning a breakfast area.
Beds are good, clean cotton sheets, good mattresses.
Water pressure was not at the best, but you certainly can take a shower without any problems.
Breakfast was good (potatoes, eggs and bacon crumbs). Maybe having a waffle would make it perfect? Yogurt is very good and juice is Minute made, not cheap one like Yuupie.
Clean nice hotel with exceeding expectations for its price.”

“I do not understand all the bad reviews and I am guessing many of them are fake. This hotel is way better than anything else in the area for the same price. The rooms have been recently updated, great customer service, and very dog friendly. I was able to bring 2 dogs and the total was over $30 cheaper than Travelodge for a one night stay. I stay at hotels often and this will be my go to 2 star hotel that I bring my dogs to. Every room has a mini fridge and microwave. The Travelodge and Days Inn that are about the same price as Red Roof Inn are rundown and I used to stay at them since I am a Whyndham Rewards member but I will only be using Whyndham for 2.5 star and above going forward. I stayed at Rodeway Inn down the road too and this Red Roof Inn is way better. I even like it better than the Baymont that serves free breakfast. Red Roof Inn will be my new go to with my dogs when I don't have sitter for them. Great location right off of 75 and there are so many places to eat and shop near the hotel. Check out the 168 Asian Mart and other unique ethnic stores while you are in the area.”

“The manager, Joe, Summer, Sam; These staff members have outstanding customer service skills and they truly do go above and beyond! If you have any issues they are quick to take care of them. We have stayed here for some time now and it's very peaceful. Clean. Great staff! Thank you Motel 6! Will recommend this place to friends and family.”

“Had to checkin late at night while travelling by car and the checkin took longer than usual, even though I booked online, maybe because I was enrolled in a membership program, since I received an email about it. Parking was fine, room was good and like a studio apartment style with stove, large fridge, a sink and the Furniture need updating.

Rooms: Good size with full size fridge, sink and stove top. Desk lime with chair and another leather chair for relaxing.”

“Great staff, service and location. Only issue was the pool was closed for "maintenance" our entire stay. This was disappointing as one of the main reasons we stayed at this hotel was due to my kids wanting to swim each day. Good breakfast and consistent Hampton amenities.”

“I recently stayed at Sonesta Simply Suites Detroit Troy, and it was an absolute delight!
From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and comfortable. The staff was friendly, helpful, and always ready to offer assistance, which made my stay stress-free.
The suite itself was spacious, clean, and had everything I needed. The kitchen area was fully equipped, which allowed me to prepare my meals and feel more at home. The room also had a cozy vibe, with modern furnishings and a comfortable bed that made it easy to relax after a long day.
One of the best parts of my stay was the convenience. The location is excellent, with quick access to nearby shopping, dining, and attractions in Troy and Detroit. And for longer stays, having amenities like a laundry room and gym made a huge difference.
If you're looking for a comfortable, well-located place to stay in the Detroit area, I highly recommend Sonesta Simply Suites Detroit Troy. It's perfect for anyone looking for a clean, quiet, and well-managed place to unwind.”

“I dunno what it’s like these days honestly, but I went here a few years ago after having an absolutely HORRID experience across the street at Days Inn. Me and my mom came here instead and were delighted to see that it was WAY better. First of all, it didn’t smell like cigarettes, which was already an upgrade and plus from the last hotel/motel. But our room door also DID lock which was good (again something that happened at the Days Inn.) and the staff was really nice, and easy to talk to, we got a pretty standard room and it was nice! Free WiFi, clean room, no rotting out walls or anything, and honestly, just an actually nice room. And even better, unlike the Days Inn, who had a pool outdoors and said it was closed in the middle of June, this best western has an indoor pool, which was open, and actually pretty nice and busy. I even invited a friend of mine who we were visiting in the city to come hang out at the pool, and it was great. All in all, I had a great experience here, after having a very not great experience across the street. Check out my review there if you want by the way.Rooms: Very nice and clean, free WiFi. Loved it.Nearby activities: There’s an indoor pool and some really good restaurants nearby.Food & drinks: Vending machines were good with lots of good snacks and drinks. Along with room service.”

Nearby activities: There is a escape room not far from motel

Food and drinks: There are a few restaurants that are within walking distance also a speedway with a cafe”

“I've had a chance to revisit this location and must tell you that I do that my prior experience review of 2 stars was rash and based on one disappointment. I booked an additional 2 nights though Groupon by accident and have not been able to redeem at a future stay as promised in November
Customer service levels and room conditions generally exceed expectations.

Management continues to improve in service level and room quality.”
