Filled out a contact form online (business was closed and I kept forgetting during the day). After a week or so with no contact, I started calling. Lots of calls with no answer. Spoke with someone eventually but for whatever reason, they could not make an appointment as they were not near the scheduling system. Were supposed to call me back. No call back.Too much effort to try and do business with this place.

We contacted Kapalua Floors to refinish/repair the original 1965 red oak hardwood floors in our home and we are so glad that we did! I called Kapalua after hearing about their professionalism and great work from a friend and Susi was able to come out within a few days to provide us with a quote. Susi arrived on time and was friendly and very thorough during her inspection. Our floors were previously very poorly refinished and stained black, so we were not sure if the floors could be saved. Upon her inspection, Susi determined that the floors were still in good shape and that they would be able to refinish them. I was very happy to hear that. After the inspection, Susi emailed me with a fair quote and instructions on next steps. We ended up removing the pony wall by the front door and asked if the floor underneath could be repaired. Susi was very quick to respond to my email and provide a quote.Our project was estimated to take a total of 4 days. Maurice arrived to our home early every day and worked diligently to sand our floors, while keeping us informed about the process. He also cleaned up and organized his equipment when he left for the day. Maurice was very professional, patient, and knowledgeable when we were deciding whether or not to stain our floors. He provided us with multiple stain samples and answered all our questions. We ended up not staining the floors and keeping them natural. Maurice and his supervisor also were about to fill the holes and repair the floor by the front door. I am so happy with how everything turned out and would recommend Kapalua Floors to my friends and family. I love my ‘NEW’ floors! Thank you Kapalua!

I could not be more happy with Kapalua’s service and craftsmanship. My hardwood floors had water damage and needed to be partially replaced. The newly installed floor was matched perfectly to existing floors, and then everything was sanded, stained and refinished. The floors look amazing and beyond better than before! Thanks so much!

I had Kapalua sand and refinish my floors about a year and a half ago. I chose a more expensive, commercial grade finish (by Bona). The initial job was done well. After a few months though, my floors began showing excessive wear. I contacted Joe, Kapalua's owner, and he offered to do a recoat for free and to have Bona come out to assess the wear. After several months of not being able to get Bona out to my home, Joe again offered to do a recoat. I agreed that would be the best solution. Since then I have not heard back from Joe. I have emailed several times and left a voicemail all with no response. It has been about a year and a half and my floors look worse than they did before I had them refinished (and that was with 12 years of wear). Offering to make a job right and then not following through or even responding isn't ok.

I strongly recommend against using them because they do not stand by the products they sell or their work. It was a complete waste of money. They were great at first, super friendly, polite, punctual, seemed reasonably priced, and initially, the floors looked great. My only (pretty minor) complaint at first was that they didn't tell me that the water based finish they were going to apply was going to have a flat finish instead of the glossy finish the floor had previously. Ultimately, they sold me on, and I received the "commercial grade" finish that cost more, but was supposed to be extra durable. Within just a few months, the finish on a fairly large section of my floor started bubbling up and peeling off with nothing more than ordinary use. Without even seeing the bubbling and peeling, Pat, over the phone, began trying to attribute it to one of my pets who he claimed must've urinated in that spot. When he finally came by to inspect it, he realized that I would have had to have a pet elephant in order to cover that large of an area in urine and he acknowledged that it wasn't that. Then he tried attributing it to everything else he could think of other than poor quality product or application (even blaming my Roomba at one point). The end result is that they refused to stand by the Bona water based, supposedly extra durable finish, or their application, and refused to repair that section without charging me in full for the entire repair. Again, the cherry on top is that I paid extra for that more durable water based "commercial" grade. And to make it worse, their responsiveness fell way down once I notified them that there was this problem. It took them two months to come out and look at the shoddy finish and tell me that they weren't going to stand by their work. When I expressed how outrageous it was that they wouldn't stand by the product they sold me, they offered to have the area analyzed by Bona to determine whether it was the product's fault or not. Or they would refer me to another industry insider analyst whose fee I would have to pay if they determined it was not the product's fault. Apparently they think their customers are morons to boot. I'm just so disgusted with how they've handled this, I could never in good conscience recommend them to anyone.

Kapalua just sanded & finished my floors. They look phenomenal! The information they provide the client is very professional, and they document change controls/billing well. However, don't necessarily expect them to listen to everything you request. I requested thresholds for the bedrooms. It was in the quote & therefore my contract. It was in the installers instructions. The installers said they would install them on second day. However, they were not installed. When requested thresholds to be delivered to me, stained, so I could install them, the response back I received was no we would rather not, but if you want them at a later date, we will do it. Yes they took the thresholds off the invoice. But that's not the point. If you tell the customer we can do that, but decide you don't want to do that, then why did you tell me in the first place? And if you forgot to do that task, why not make it right and complete the task?

Very professional, explained in simple terms all the steps that need to be done.No need for any supervision, they did a fantastic job of refurbishing the flooring in kitchen, hallway and bathroom. Left the place completely neat and clean

Awesome experience. I debated between several companies and I'm glad I went with Kapalua. Susi with sales was pleasant and easy to contact. The crew was experienced, professional and took their time. They even worked an additonal rainy Saturday to put on the final coat. Good people. My wife and I moved into a new home and wanted to update the high gloss honey oak floors. The old floors also had bevels and a few bad spots. The 900 sq-ft job was done over 1 week and my wife and I were able to sleep at home each night. The dust was very minimal. We went with jacobian/ebony mix with satin finish and it is stunning. The floors look brand new and completely changed the look of our home. It now feels like home. Thanks to everyone at Kapalua. Keep up the good work.

Kapalua Floors did an amazing job restoring the floors in our Palmer Woods home. Anyone can sand and coat floors, but if you want beautifully restored floors done by professional works, then call Kapalua Floors.
