“Last month I came in to get my AC fixed and returned last week to get new brakes and struts, along with getting some issues found along the way sorted out. “So I am a mechanic by trade and letting someone else work on my car is hard to do LOL. But let me tell you I am going back if needed in the future.
My exhaust pipe clamp became lose and dropped my post cat pipe to the ground. I do not have a welder at my disposal today, so I had to take the car to be repaired.
First they were super pleasant on the phone. Next they had a spot and got me in the door as soon as I got there, guess I was lucky.
Upon arrival I was greeted by an eager gentleman who got right to it. Asked for my keys and my car was in the air in minutes. They brought me back to actually show me the two issues which were not exaggerated. They made true statements. Told me the price right there while under the car.
Whole job in my case took about 45 minutes.
If I ever have something come up I will be going coming back here.”
“I needed a lot of work done between my car and the road. Bearings, brakes, control arms, struts. The subaru dealership gave me a very expensive quote, Ron at pep boys gave me a preliminary quote for much less. He was very honest about which work was urgent, and what could wait another year or two.
They got everything done super fast for me, and fixed my AC on top of all that. It was a great experience start to finish. Charles helped out a couple times while Ron was out, and he was great too.
My car finally feels trustworthy and comfortable again thanks to everyone over at Pep Boys. I wish I could give the other mechanics at the shop a shout out for their great work, but I only spoke with Ron and Charles.”

“We've got a 2016 Prius. The problem: we have a knocking / clunking noise when driving over bumps, seemingly coming from the driver's side suspension. I'm a pretty handy guy who knows his way around cars, and was pretty sure it was either a tie rod or sway bar link / bushing.
So anyway, after a different shop had quoted us a $2500 total front-end replacement of things that weren't broken (like struts) and told us we needed new tires (despite tread on current tires being 5-7/32"), we bounced them and came to Chuck.
Chuck diagnosed the car and called us to say "it's in the steering column, nothing we can do ourselves, take it to Toyota". And I, being stubborn, did not believe Chuck. He basically was gonna send us away with only a $20 tire rotation we had asked for (which is a great price btw). The dude actively refused work.
Me, being confident I was correct, asked Chuck to replace the sway bar bushing and links. He did it, great price (< 350). And of course it didn't fix my problem (but it sure did tighten up the sloppy steering).
Once we got the car back I did some more research on the problem. Lo and behold this is a known issue for gen 3 prius, a $5 bushing in the power steering motor that gets destroyed over time. It's cheap to fix in terms of parts, but you have to disassemble the dash and drop the steering column to access it.
I did some more diagnosis and confirmed this is in fact the issue.
So in short, Chuck was totally right, incredibly honest, and tried to talk me out of paying him money to do work that wasn't needed. 5 stars, I will absolutely be back and appreciate an honest and competent mechanic and shop.”
