“I request this plaza often to meet up for lunch with friends and family. Between Dickies, Little Cezars, Jimmy Johns, and The Omlete Shop there are always good options.”
“We were mostly here for the game shop and Asian buffet. Both were decent to good. Very clean and well maintained. Bit disappointing about the neofash moving in here and lowering property values, granted.”
“While it is dying a very slow death, the shops that are clinging to life seem to be holding up well. Larger stores aren't fairing as well as the smaller ones, though. It will be interesting to see how it all lands out in the end”
“We participated in the “Guided Historic Building & Tunnel Tour” on Saturday, November 2, 2024. Joe Kilpatrick was our tour guide and was EXCELLENT!! Mr. Kilpatrick is exceptionally well-versed in the history of the Northern Michigan State Hospital in Traverse City and the Kirkbride patient care model. His wonderful sense of humor and passion for sharing an accurate story about the hospital added another layer of enjoyment to the tour.
The two-hour walking tour explores the beautiful architecture of the former hospital buildings and their transformation into today’s visit-worthy shops and restaurants. We learned about the Kirkbride model of empathetic care for those who suffered from mental health issues and its positive health results. Expect to learn about this historic landmark's valuable health, social, and economic impacts. You will hear about the local city leaders, physicians, and nurses who developed the “beauty is therapy” health treatment programs. Exceptional tour, educational opportunity, and an example of successful architectural renovation. You won’t want to miss this one! (Oh, and ask to join Joe Kilpatrick’s tour — a terrific tour guide and educator!)”
