As a former owner of two galleries and former President of Board of Directors of an Art Museum in Oregon, I was delightfully impressed with the quality and diversity of this curators offerings. It's not easy to attract the best and then exhibit a pleasing representation of unrelated styles, approaches and mediums. I couldn't help myself and purchased a mixed media piece by Michelle Tock York. Congratulations to Higher Art Gallery and Shanny Brooke!

Higher Art Gallery has become one of the highlights of our annual trip to Traverse City, Michigan. The quality of artists represented are that of which you would find in a big city, and the gallery is curated by an owner with impeccable taste. This is not the typical gallery which one would expect to find in a “ tourist” town. I’m addition to the brilliant paintings in many mediums, there is a huge variety of sculpture. Chances are if you see an artist you love , the owner has more which she keeps on site , and if you ask, she may be able to bring it up for you . The owner , Shanny Brooke is also an accomplished painter . She is not a pushy sales person, but is warm and knowledgeable . I highly encourage everyone to visit Higher Art Gallery and start their own collection or add to it. You won’t regret it.Some of the artists which really stood out to me were: Mara Manning, Michelle Tock York, Stephen Kostyshyn, Fran De Anda, and Justin Shull

We happened upon this gallery because the window display was so intriguing and we went inside. The artwork here is really excellent with a lovely variety of paintings, sculptures, etc.

I love the diverse array of skilled and talented artists which are on display . Hands down, Higher Art Gallery is our regions best gallery. The owner works hard at keeping the gallery fresh , and always offering something completely different than anywhere else. The quality of art and the way it is presented is high.When visiting Traverse City , be sure to always make this a regular stop. Higher Art Gallery is an Art destination !

Lovely gallery! I enjoying browsing as if in a museum, looking at the diverse mediums. I really appreciated seeing unique sculptural pieces, beyond the standard painting and prints you see in other local galleries. I had to take one home. Only later did I read about the majority women artists represented. Awesome!

Love the new gallery space on Front St!! My friend and I checked it out yesterday and were delighted by the wonderful diverse selection of Contemporary Art!! We truly enjoyed the experience and can't wait to go back!!

I love Higher Art! I stumbled upon the gallery location before the exciting relocation to Front Street and found several pieces I took photos of as gifts for my mom (I needed to run them by my brother before purchase). After doing so, I contacted Shanny and she was so accommodating. She had them packaged up and ready for pick-up, and X-Mas 2020 was so special! I look forward to visiting the new location and finding more gifts for family, friends, and myself :) Thanks, Shanny!

This is by far our favorite gallery in Traverse City. The owner has curated a well-thought, interesting collection of work from artists in diverse mediums. If you’re in the area this is definitely worth checking out!
