First things first, it's best if you call first before dropping. These folks see busy and hard working farmers, so it is easier if you can schedule when you will come by, that way you aren't interrupting their hard, necessary, and important work.I had the privilege of being a farm hand here for a while. It is, without a doubt, the best and most satisfying work I have ever done in my life. The reason my work experience here is pertinent is because I have see the way this farm operates first hand. This farm is not "USDA Certified Organic." I worked there for three years. Guess how many persticides and herbicides I saw....ZERO....The famers here find no help in poisoning their fields or their animals. This farm takes husbandry of the land and love for animals very seriously. The cows graze in the spring and summer (and if they are lucky to have an Indian Summer, then the fall as well). In the cold months of fall, winter, and part of spring, they are eating up loads of hay; grasses which have grown locally. You will find chickens running around. The cats will hide from you, especially if you have kids with you. However there is a very endearing kitty named Whitefish who will covet all your love and gently scratching. And yes, there is a Llama named Obama and he is a character.Prices are great considering the work that goes into producing beef. This beef is 100% grass fed and 100% grass finished. No grains, corn, etc for these cows, as those grains wreak havoc on a cow's digestive system, causing all sorts of pain and discomfort, hence the reason most farms use excessive antiobiotics on your store bought garbage.Okay off my soapbox, if you have kids you must visit. And if you're sick and tired of CAFO's, pesticides, herbicides, cruelty to animals, and bad use of good land....then this a place to bring back memories of days when farming wasn't so commercialized and wrapped up in subsidies we all pay for in taxes which go toward harsh treatment of the land, animals, and workers (especially migrant workers). You're going to love this place!
