I had my son's funeral 11 years ago and my husband's earlier this month. On both occasions, the service was excellent. The staff was attentive and compassionate. They went above and beyond to meet our needs and ensure our comfort. They provided personalized care and assistance while planning and organizing our visitation and service.

There are no words to describe the top notch professionalism, compassion, love, and unbelievable support each staff member showed us at Bagnasco & Calcaterra Funeral Home in St. Clair Shores, MI. They were there every step of the way guiding us through a very difficult time in our lives. Thank you all.

December 2023 by Jennifer Delamielleure
My son, Griffin Delamielleure, my only child. I woke up early morning on October 23rd, 2023, to find my 20 year-old son in his room, already gone. Minutes later, my home was filled with medical responders, detectives & police officers who, (very kindly) escorted me away from Griffin back to my bedroom. As soon as my husband got home an officer suggested he go into our room to prevent me from seeing the coroner come thru. An officer followed my husband into our room & closed the door behind him, where he calmly stood, just blocking the door a bit. What I remember next was the sound of a big, heavy, very loud & long zipper. Immediately, I know my son is being put into what may as well be a garbage bag! (I had our vet here where my dog was peacefully put to sleep. The pet service we used for cremation had more sense. My dog was wrapped in a blanket. My son was zippered up in a tarp) The hard crinkling sound I was hearing, I just remember becoming incensed, unhinged, it was surreal. Now I understand why the officer was blocking the door from the inside. If I had known what was to come, I would have immediately called BAGNASCO & CALCATERRA FUNERAL. We knew we would cremate our son. Me & Griffin, I guess, thankfully now, did actually talk about this a couple of times so we knew how to start but not where to go. What I learned is that there are some funeral homes and/or cremation facilities that, after they pick up your loved one from the medical examiner's office, that's it! You will never get to see them unless you're having a full viewing & then cremation. We didn't think Griffin would want to be on display so if we had made the wrong decision, I'd have to live with the image I had of my son that morning, an image I thought I'd never unsee. But then I called Bagnasco & Calcaterra who helped me do just that. They picked up Griffin from the medical examiner's office & brought him into their care. Bagnasco & Calcaterra helped me to at least put some shade on the last visual I thought I'd just have to live with. They allowed me and a few family members into one of their private rooms where Griffin was waiting. Griffin was laying in a bed of white satin. Griffin was dressed in the clothes we brought. Griffin's hair was beautiful and perfect and Griffin was obviously very well taken care of. Bagnasco & Calcaterra were nothing, if not compassionate, accessible, responsive, generous and most of all patient. You never expect to bury your 20-year-old child and although our lives will never be the same, Bagnasco & Calcaterra has made our last physical goodbye to Griffin a beautiful experience and for me, a much better last visual. Thank you to everyone at the St. Clair Shores location whom we've met and even those we haven't, that have worked on our behalf in helping us through this impossible time in our lives.

Class is the best description I can give. They treated me with respect. They did a magnificent job. And they made a very hard time for me go as smoothly as possible. From the handling of the set-up all the way to the actual burial, I was impressed. To the people that work there, thank you.

Bagnasco was amazing with helping us work through all the details for planning two of our family members funerals. They helped us through a difficult time and showed a great deal of compassion and patience and were very responsive and accommodating. One of their staff members even dropped something off at my home to save me a trip to the funeral home! I highly recommend them for all your funeral needs. Joe and Matthew, in particular are fantastic!

I'd like to say that unfortunately I have had to bury several loved ones over the last year. Joe and the entire staff Elizabeth, Diane, Brian and Mike helped to ease the pain and stress of the whole funeral process. We thank you and would not take any loved ones anywhere else

The staff is very friendly, helpful, and understand your needs. Joe helped arrange my husband's funeral arrangements. Joe is very nice and friendly. There was so many of my dad's side of his family funerals at Bagnasco Funeral Home. The staff is very familiar with my family and treat us like they are part of my family. I was very shocked when I started receiving text messages from Elizabeth checking to see how I was doing and if I needed anything. That was very thoughtful of her. Thanks, Elizabeth I appreciate your concern for me.

During the time of death there is so much to do. Joe and his entire staff were remarkable. Every step of the way they gave us all the information. My mom, sister, and I were able to plan my dad's arrangements from viewing, church, and cemetery. If you are looking for compassionate, understanding, and kind staff during a difficult time this is place. I can't say enough about their wonderful welcoming personality.

Avoid this Funeral Home at all costs. It is difficult enough to deal with a loved one's death let alone having to deal with the staff. They treated the process like they were selling me a used car - negotiating prices. Once I complained, Dyan took the paperwork to her boss and came back with a "better" price. Why would she not do this the FIRST time. They prey on your grief and try to profit even more off of it. No compassion whatsoever. Period.
