Just not happy with this center. I pulled my son out today, I did not feel in my gut they truly knew how to handle different behaviors in children. Lisa is rude, and does it with a smile. My son was portrayed as a child with “bad behavior”, examples- he was crawling on other students while sitting on a mat in the gym while watching a Mickey Mouse movie during their Christmas pj day. His teachers have absolutely no patience or experience in his high energy spirit. Lisa told me he’s not a good fit for a class of 20 because it may be over stimulating him. She told me quote on quote “I’m not a psychiatrist, nor a doctor, and I don’t know what goes on in his head” when asking what was happening in his environment at the time of this so called bad behavior. My son went to the office on multiple occasions, crying, without a call to me or my husband. Lisa verbalized in our parent teacher conference that she let our child cry, and wanted an apology, and had even asked what he was apologizing for. He is a 3 year old boy mind you. Amy (preschool 2 teacher) talks a mile a min that you can barely understand what she is saying. Jacqueline (preschool 2 teacher) is sweet, and smiles often but when asking specific questions, it’s evident that she doesn’t have the experience, or patience on what to do for my child. Their way of handling behavior is the reason why I pulled my son out, he hasn’t been wanting to go to school for the past month and that tells me something. Lisa stated “he doesn’t get what he wants” and that’s why he isn’t happy there. Also- I was told that he doesn’t smile, and the word “miserable” was brought up referencing my child. My child is the most loving, sweetest, social, outgoing child with a lot of energy, and a big opinion. Not sorry that my child isn’t a robot. I do not and will not recommend this facility to others.

I love KinderCare! They instantly made my kids feel at home and took to their needs. I feel at one point they would get a little sad to leave their classes during pick up because of how amazing the atmosphere is. And the safety precautions during this pandemic are even better! They definitely care about the health of not only the kids but staff and the parents as well!

If you’re a mom or dad considering care options for your little ones, I highly recommend looking into Southgate KinderCare. Our 2 children are 3 yrs and 15 mos. They’ve been attending since the 15 mo old was 3 months, and in the midst of a pandemic (essential worker parents). The communication and transparent updates around day to day policies, procedures and care has been top notch. The teachers take great care with teaching, general care/needs, safety, health and make a point to connect with the parents to keep open lines of communication. They also make learning fun - our children enjoy their days there!Added pluses:•I love the app! Daily activities, photos, supply needs and messaging are a click away. I feel connected to my kids during the busy work day.•Meals and snacks are provided. No packing cooler snacks/meals like some daycare centers.•Enrichment programs, such as phonics & music, are also an add-on option.

The staff is amazing and made us feel welcome and included. Loved the app and the level of communication! Our son is starting kindergarten so he’s finishing his time up there now but I will send my daughter someday because our experience was positive.

My children have been with Kindercare since they were 1-year-old and now they are turning 5. All of their teachers are professional, kind and well-equipped in the areas that they are teaching. They are compassionate even in disciplining. They give timely updates on the children's day and also very transparent on what's going on. I would recommend Southgate Kindercare to anyone who needs daycare services.

I have been taking my daughter to southgate kindercare since she has been a year old, she is now about to be four!Over the years she has learned sooo much attending this school! This is the best choice I ever made for my daughter because the amount of education she gets for her age is amazing! The director and the staff are very patient and kind and work very well with your needs for your child. My child is a very picky eater and they work with her to get her to try new foods and do a very great job assuring me that she is eating during the day!!I’m so glad we found southgate kindercare!!!Can’t wait until I can enroll my second daughter!!

I’m giving this rating based on the information I received when inquiring about the offered programs. I was at first excited about these programs because Kindercare’s main chat system said the facilities have inclusive programming for special needs kids. I had to specifically speak with the director of the desired facility for more specific details, which I called the Southgate location. The director was very polite and informative, even directing me to another source that may help me find programs for my son with special needs. However, although KinderCare claims to be inclusive, I believe it is not or is very limited based on the information I received. My son has autism with associated disorders in learning, speech, communication, and feeding. Some of his special needs would include assistance with complying during sitting/circle times and activities where free play during such activity would be considered a distraction. I was told the specific program I was interested in has a teacher-child ratio of 2:20. For anyone who is familiar with kids who have special needs, particularly autism, this is not a great ratio. Second, not a single staff member is trained in special needs education or care. I’m honestly surprised that a facility can claim to be special needs inclusive when no staff member in the facility is minimally trained on basic special needs care like recognizing stim behavior that can be associated with overstimulation, accommodating things such as hyperactivity durning group settings like circle time, or how to appropriately deesculate tantrums or “episodes” by kids who may not have strong verbal or communication skills. From the information I received, what makes KinderCare “inclusive” of special needs children is that there is a point of contact to call when a staff member is unsure of what to do about a situation involving a special needs kid (which is by no means helpful since this contact person is not familiar with the child’s specific needs and is not even there to observe the situation). Otherwise, special needs kids have to meet a minimal neurotypical standard that doesn’t disrupt that capabilities of maintaining a 2:20 teacher-child classroom ratio. In all honesty, not training staff in special needs care and expecting non-neurotypical children to meet minimum standards of neurotypical children is not attempting to provide inclusive measures. I understand that not all facilities and programs can widely implement effective inclusive measures. But as a special needs family, it’s very disheartening to finally find a local program that claims to be inclusive but does not have minimal inclusive efforts. This review is not meant to talk down about Southgate KinderCare, the facility seems like it has wonderful programs when a child is neurotypical or has minimal special needs that does not break too far out from neurotypical standards or capabilities. But I don’t think there is an appropriate amount of inclusive efforts to comfortably enroll a child requiring moderate or higher levels of assistance related to their special needs. I hope my review is taken as constructive criticism for the appropriate departments or leads overseeing program development and facility improvement. I really loved how the facility looked and all the programs available but would love it even more so if I felt enough inclusive measures were in place to comfortably allow special needs kids like my son learn and grown with his neurotypical peers.
