Wednesday, September 11, 2024 I rented a Ford Expedition for a company event. I used our company contract code based on us partnering with Hertz (which needs to be re-evaluated). The vehicle was filthy and smelled like marijuana. I had to escort clients to the corporate meeting and their hotels. At one point the clients were picking up Marijuana buds from the floor and cup consoles. Sad and truly unprofessional on Hertz as a whole. I was Hesitant with renting from that location but I did based on convenience but never again. The oil change light was on (when mentioned, I was told they don’t reset the light). The vehicle shaked while driving.
I am not sure why I expected anything different for their vehicles because when you walk into the rental office the Marijuana smell hits you.
Based on the other reviews and photos that were provided it’s clear Hertz does not value their consumers and feedback! The response from
management is robotic and scripted. No empathy no compassion or improvement has been done.
Improvement is necessary internally and externally. This is sad.

If you want great customer service, a friendly atmosphere, several available vehicles and a staff that knows how to handle situations accurately and efficiently well don't go to this location, because they lack all these above. If I can give 0 stars I would. Very poor service and I felt like my time was not valuable and went elsewhere for my vehicle

If I could give this run down establishment negative stars I would the manager Sal very unprofessional. It all started with the selected vehicle I was given the vehicle was too small so I requested a larger size vehicle but was told they didn’t have anymore at that time and they would call me when something larger was available when driving I noted the vehicle was slow picking up speed, dirty filthy to be exact, and had a foul odor. I immediately took the car back to Hertz upon entering the driveway I could see the manager Sal quickly heading to the back area I call out but no one answered I headed to the restroom which posted an out of order sign as I turn to leave guess who’s coming out of the restroom non other than manager Sal, yelling that I could not come into that area in which the Public restroom was located. I informed him of the issues concerning the vehicle he immediately became defensive, loud, aggressive And threatening. This man told me the car was definitely clean because he cleaned it and there was nothing wrong with the vehicle, he then opted to cancel the rental and tell me to “get out of his store” without attempting to resolve the issue While waiting for my ride two young men (black) walked in to rent a vehicle they were informed it would be a $500 deposit but I had just paid a $200 deposit… everything about this establishment is unethical. And just to be clear I used my debit card 1st then my credit card the deposit was the same using both transactions.

TERRIBLE! Avoid this location, whatever it takes. Online, I booked a gas car + extra gas fee for no fill-up on return, and this location gave me an electric KIA that was 50% charged. The worker I spoke with acted as though he was giving me a huge discount for the error, but they actually ended up charging me a $45 Tesla charge in "mistake" - I had to spend 30min on the phone with billing/customer service before they would even refund the mistake Tesla charge. The electric rental totally ruined our trip - we ended up spending most of our time stuck at charging stations instead of enjoying our vacation.

The car is really smelling bad with cigarettes smoke ,it was really nasty .
I never experienced this kind of service from hertz .

Super disappointed with the service Hertz provided me and my sister with. Gave us a car that was smelly, cigarette smelly & not cleaned, and NO GAS. I feel like the car was given to me once someone else return it. I only had the car for a day, because I was taking my niece and nephew on a mini vacation to Columbus Zoo. We put air fresheners in the car because the smell was bad and We had kid’s under 5 in the car.
I returned The car the following day, and left the air fresheners in the car. I then, get my Rental Agreement eReceipt and noticed an additional cleaning fee for $400 was charged. Which I was Slightly confused on because the car was decent. I called, and they told me they charged me a smoking fee… when who in the HELL smokes? Because how do you determine someone smokes… He tells me because it was air fresheners left in the car. Which I already Stated before THE CAR SMELLED WHEN WE GOT IT!!!!!! WE HAD CHILDREN UNDER 5 in there for 3 1/2 hours. He then, tells me to contact billing. There’s not a BILLING NUMBER. You have to send a message and they will receive it 3-5 business days. They don’t have a direct contact number … Yall don’t take 3-5 business days to take our money… so why should we have to wait to speak or contact someone. I had To take this all the way to TWITTER to get a response… RIDICULOUS!
I have been sent all around with all these different numbers to contact for billing!!!! When why you can’t contact billing? Yeah, I do Not advise you to book through Hertz. I am Unsure if they are all this way, but my entire experience was HORRIBLE.

Nothing like receiving a call 90 minutes before your pick up time and them telling you that they don't have a car for you and you're basically just out of luck. Even though the car was booked a week ago, they wait until the last possible moment to say "screw you".... Thanks Hertz!

This Hertz will definitely get you in and out without the hassle of long wait times.

Was told my vehicle will be ready at 3 to pick up. Went to pick it up, was told no vehicle was available after making reservations several days earlier. Was told another car will be available at 4:30 called at no answer called at 5:00 was told previous client hasn't returned the vehicle. They had given a Pacifica I was supposed to receive given to someone else earlier in the day.Was told to just call the airport see if they have any available. Never received a call about the returned vehicle. So frustrated with Hertz in Southfield. Will never rent from Southfield. Only outside of Michigan.

After booking a car with my insurance provider, I discovered it was no longer available, upon arriving at the office I was surprised by the loud rap music and unclean floors. Additionally, the required 500 deposit until following day .
Sat and mon cars all sold??

I had a hard time renting a car by them when my original reservation didn’t work out. I wouldn’t have minded but they were rude and unwilling to work with me

I’ve used this location a few times. The wait time is a little long sometimes (that seems to be all rental places though). They are always nice and I’ve never had an issue with the cars.

I rented a car through hertz on telegraph and my experience been horrible! I had received the car a Kia with a hole next to Miami plate that’s balled up on the car and the tire level light came on the day I received it and I called hertz and was told to fix it or pay a deductible on a low air tire. Next the oil chain light came on, said that it needs to be changed and that it needs to be reset, while I’m on the freeway the car started shaking, slowing down, hesitating to pool it just so happened to get me into a parking spot safely. I called Herrz. They had a tow truck driver come to my job pick me up and the tow truck take me to the airport to replace the car where the airport at Detroit metro tells me, I can’t get another car because the Herrz in Southfield my had the dates wrong i’m supposed to have the car for 30 days. They said it was due back on the 12th. I picked it up on the fourth. My insurance company is paying for 30 days. I’m without a car right now. I have missed two days of work this week behind this raggedy Kia K5 Rental. When my car is ready I will hope to never ever rent from this location again!
