In recent years, I began shopping at Big Lots for common household items because their prices were competitive and comparable to other bargain stores. However, a recent encounter in the last few months has made me stop shopping there altogether. I bought some non-perishable items online for in-store pickup and realized I had double-ordered them from somewhere else and no longer needed the Big Lots order. I returned to the store with my online receipt within 2 weeks and the cashier politely explained that she didn't know how to perform an online return. I said, "It's okay," as she picked up the intercom to call for a manager. She and I chatted and shared a few laughs as we waited for the manager. A few minutes later, a manager named Marcy arrived. She asked for a paper receipt and I expressed that I had a digital receipt with a bar code for my online order. She became agitated and started yelling at me about wanting a pickup tag from the store. I had no clue what she was talking about and explained that I'd only used online receipts in the past. She began to imply that the items were never paid for. Thus, I presented the credit card that was charged. She was able to find the transaction and never once apologized. I told her that her behavior was offensive as it always is whenever I'm in the store and she's seen servicing customers. I told her that I'd be reaching out to customer service. She snidely replied, "Then, I'll be calling YOU at home." I was completely taken aback. I asked if she was threatening me and she got quiet with a smug look on her face. When I got in my car, I immediately called corporate care about her behavior. Lately, I've been staying away from shopping in Southfield altogether. The cashiers and laborers at various stores are clearly overworked and underpaid; however, I'm not going to be a punching bag because of it. Marcy needs to go, but if not--Big Lots won't last long.

They had some good deals on things but it didn't seem like the deals were as good as they used to be. That's probably thanks to Biden and inflation though. It's worth going there. The store is clean and they actually have a good selection of items on the shelves.

The bathrooms were filthy. I went here in the morning and They looked like they haven't been cleaned in weeks. Alot of food items are over priced and expired.

The store isn't the cleanest. It looks drab dark, and the store set up is crowded & weird but the manager, Marcy, was awesome! She was very helpful, enthusiastic, and personable towards ALL customers. She didn't rush and provided her attention to those who needed her help. She made up for the appearance of the store.

I like to give credit where credit is due! It's easy to write a negative review when you have a negative experience but in this case, I had both and don't want the bad to outweigh the good. First of all, a huge "Thank you to Marcy" for her help with replacing a piece of furniture I bought that was broken. Her professionalism is definitely to be commended. Now for the negative, I know that a lot of businesses in the country are short-handed right now but this store is always a little messy and maybe it's not such a good idea for the people that move the furniture around all day to actually wait on customers because they are often exhausted and that doesn't lead to the best customer service experience.

This was my 1st time going to big lots and I was impressed by the outstanding customer service by David & Ned. They answered our questions , had a smile as they helped us and the store was organized & well stock. Thank you David. My mom & I will be back!!

This location is horrible. Obviously they don't have enough employees at this store; it is so unorganized and rundown. Avoid this location if you can. There are boxes everywhere and it's just junky!
