Crank’s catered our wedding. Before you hire an event caterer, ask yourself, can you have a do-over? In absolute majority of cases that would be a solid NO. With that said, Crank’s definitely overpromised and underdelivered. They subsequently offered us a $100 gift card which, in my humble opinion, is neither enough, nor suitable to make up for their poor performance, lack of communication, lack of coordination, refusal to accept responsibility, and the sheer fact that they did charge us an extra $1000 for what was supposed to be top notch service with promises of multiple trips and multiple trucks only to show up a few hours before the event in one truck.
Let me highlight some of the positives first. The food was great, and the staff worked really hard (but there were only 3 of them).
The main issue, however, was the water. Let me ask you this: after spending thousands of dollars on your wedding and trying to make sure everything was taken care of, as you sit at your beautifully decorated reception, would you prefer everybody’s drinking water to come from the venue’s multi-stall bathroom or from the janitor’s closet conveniently located in everyone’s line of sight? I hope you said “neither”. The idea of either one of those places being used as a water source was, frankly, not even a possibility in our minds, and yet that was exactly what happened. We explicitly tried to prevent this from happening by emailing their sales coordinator Cindi and asking about the water in advance. Cindy assured us that the water for dinner would be provided and then Crank’s showed up with no water and instead of asking us what to do, they started getting water from the bathroom with most guests present at the venue. My mom caught them doing it and redirected them to the sink in the janitor’s closet which is also located in plain sight and was not supposed to be opened. The bottom line is, even though the water was safe to drink, it is like going to a good restaurant, paying for a nice meal and being served McDonald’s with the words “it is still meat, it is safe to eat”. We would have been happy with a sincere apology and a few hundred dollars refunded to us, especially considering that the 1000k surcharge was never fully used, instead Crank’s staff and management got defensive and offered us a measly $100 gift card, which we have no use for considering the distance. Another issue was a major dessert presentation delay. The presentation was announced, and they could not start presenting the desserts for about 30 minutes which created a confusing and uncomfortable stretch of time for everyone.
All in all, a shining One star for Crank’s from us!

Crank’s was a disgrace, especially for the price we paid for our wedding.
They couldn’t wait to take our money and once we paid them, it was below expectations.
Firstly: we requested SEVERAL times (both email & phone) to arrive at 10am for reception prep, to which they agreed. At 10:45am, with the ceremony in 15mins, they were absent. I called and asked where they were. The front desk associate stated they hadn’t even left yet. I was furious.
Secondly: at the reception, they started dinner. Once the last table was served, they began to pack & clean up. Several guests, including myself, desired seconds but were robbed of the opportunity. They had already stowed away the rest of the food, to “donate”. All that remained was a few cookies wrapped in clear wrap. Their coordinator eagerly approached me to “sign the form”, stating they showed up. To add insult to injury, they told my wife: “Your husband was freaking out because we were only 45mins late”. She rightfully told them it was because they didn’t fulfill their obligation.
Lastly: many of our guests got diagnosed with COVID-19 after the reception. All of our guests, especially us, had tested negative for the virus before attending. Deductive reasoning would imply one, or some, of their staff carried the virus that infected several attendees.
The price we paid was severely misaligned with the experience we received. They were significantly late, rushed to leave after doing the bare minimum, and “donated” half of the food we paid for. (When it should have went to our guests). I should have gotten half of my money back, since that’s all the food we got.
I’ve waited 2yrs to post this review, waiting for Crank’s to send the “How did we do?” feedback email. Obviously, it never came.

I used cranks catering for a baby shower over the weekend and never have I gotten so many compliments on the quality and taste of food at an event. The chef station omelet bar was a huge hit among the party and I would definitely recommend it for any breakfast or brunch event. The staff they provided were all so friendly, happy to be there and did a great job setting up and keeping all the food stocked during service. I will use cranks 10x over and I highly recommend for your next event!

This review has nothing to do with the quality of food or Crank's facilities but is a review of the catering sales representative, John Crank, his business dealings, and how he speaks to his potential customers.
Long story short, I spoke to Fieldstone Golf Course about setting up a celebration of life for my mother at their Arrowhead Grille. They referred me to Crank's Catering and provided me with their number. I spoke to a lady who worked at Crank's who was very friendly and accommodating and said that someone would need to check availability and they would get back to me on Monday. She told me it would likely be John.
John called me on Monday and told me that Fieldstone GC was open for my requested day, and we began discussing the event order. I told him I would like the BBQ #1 buffet for $19.95 for 30 people. John says that I am looking at the wrong menu and that it is not the pricing for an off-site catering event. He explains that the menu is only for golf outings. John proceeded to tell me that the minimum buffet for a celebration of life would be $26.95 per person plus a $100 per hour room charge. I explained that the menu listed on the Fieldstone GC Weddings and Events does bring up a Golf Outing menu, so it could have been clearer and that I assumed that was the only menu they used at Fieldstone since it came up under Weddings and Banquets. He told me it was the wrong menu and asked if I wanted him to email me the correct off-site catering menu. I said, "Wait a second; I am trying to help you fix this issue." John says, "You don't need to help me fix this; I will call them and get this fixed. We have been with Fieldstone for five years, and this is the first time this has ever happened." I conveyed that was weird, considering the way the information is posted on their website. John exclaims, "I am not lying to you!"
I say okay, but I have one question, "Can you tell me why a celebration of life banquet is $7 more per person plus a $100 per hour room charge than a golf outing banquet?" John mentioned something about china versus paper plates, and then just said, "IT JUST IS! We make the food in Shelby, and I can tell you, if we were doing lunches for $19.95 per person, I would be losing money. NOW DO YOU WANT ME TO EMAIL YOU THE CORRECT MENU?"
Funny thing about that statement is, that if I had called for the Celebratory Golf Outing of my Mother, John would have gladly done the golf outing buffet for $19.95.
Not only is John not doing a great job educating people (especially one's who are dealing with a lost family member) from a pricing perspective, but he is also rude when dealing with potential clients in the manner that he speaks to people and in how he handles his business overall. I am sure he has a successful business, and the food is wonderful from the reviews I read. Unfortunately, the owner is not a person of class or character, so his business is successful despite his own business and decorum deficiencies.
I would reconsider working with Cranks Catering; well, at least as long as John Crank is leading their sales efforts for catering.
*I have updated my review to properly reflect that John Crank is not the owner of the business. Given his last name of Crank, I assumed only the owner of a business would potentially speak to a potential customer in this manner. I guess I was wrong.

Our family had a surprise 90th birthday party for mom on July 12th. Jake came and to say he did an exceptional job is an understatement. Perfect. Absolutely perfect. Best BBQ chicken we've had in years. Presentation perfect. Thank you Jake.

We used Crank’s Catering for a celebration of life at Van Hoosen Farms. From my first contact right up to the event, Crank’s was easy and professional to deal with. The food arrived hot and on time and was delicious! I couldn’t be more happy with Cranks and would definitely use them again if needed.

Booking a catering takeout basically last minute for a graduation party was the easiest thing. Paul is so helpful and nice, everyone we dealt with on pickup was great. Food was amazing! Everyone loved the BBQ meatballs!

Be careful about catering menu 2. The spread was nice but I have a complaint about the hamburgers. It says it comes with hamburgers but no cheese, no lettuce, and no mayo. Honestly who eats a hamburger without lettuce? There was a tray with tomatoes, onions, and relish. Mustard and Ketchup were provided. That’s it. Have you ever eaten a hamburger with just onions and tomato on it? And there’s no way for me to go buy it while I have a house full of people asking me for mayo and cheese. We called and they said they don’t provide those things because “they don’t keep well”. Really? Does any food “keep well”? Pricing is insane. Thousands of dollars spent on a partial hamburger
