I’ve been shopping here since I was a kid. I can’t believe how horrible it’s gotten. I just got yelled at and told they were going to shut my self-checkout machine down next time and kick me out for going through the 20-item checkout with 30 items, 14 of which were multiples of other items. I counted on my receipt, I have 16 actual items, the rest were multiples of those items (two cartons of raspberries, six cans of cat food, etc.). And I had my toddler with me. I’m just absolutely astounded. I won’t be shopping here anymore. They have maybe two or three actual cashiers, they expect you to check everything out yourself, then tell you they’re going to shut your machine down for going through with a few extra items that really are just multiples of the under 20 different items you have. Disgusting.

The bottle room is a public health hazard! I contacted the store to let them know how absolutely filthy it was, and a manager assured me that they would correct the issue. Fast forward a couple of weeks later, I went back to do some shopping and the bottle room is still in the exact same condition. UNACCEPTABLE! I guess since they couldn’t manage to correct the problem when contacted privately, they want to be put on blast. So here we go…
You can smell the bottle room long before you reach it. It makes you choke from THREE AISLES AWAY. The closer you get the worse it is, and actually being inside the bottle room smells like you’re inside of a rancid dumpster in the sun on a summer day. Absolutely HORRID stench!
There are puddles of sticky standing water all over the floor. Walk carefully in there because you’re bound to splash this noxious stinky syrup water all over yourself. Don’t wear shoes you actually like, they’re gonna get filthy and sticky the moment you walk in.
There are visible sticky drips running down nearly every square inch of every wall. It feels like it’s literally NEVER been wiped down. That many drips take a LONG time to accumulate, this didn’t happen overnight!
When you leave the bottle room, your feet will stick to the floor the rest of the time you’re in the store. There are nasty black footprints going 20+ feet in every direction out the bottle room door because of the FILTH they force their customers to wade through.
And maybe the worst part is that the bottle room is adjacent to the doors leading to the back stock room. They absolutely KNOW how putrid the place is because every single employee coming and going from the back room walks right through the choking stench and across the sticky black floor multiple times a day.
This tells me… THEY JUST DON’T CARE. They absolutely disregard their disgusting health hazard. Not a single person who works there can be bothered to fix this ongoing and completely unacceptable issue.
Kroger’s bottle area isn’t like this. Walmart’s bottle area isn’t like this. So why does this Meijer location have a complete inability to do BASIC CLEANING??
You feel like you need a gas mask the whole time you’re in there and you leave feeling like you need a shower and some vaccinations. Gross, gross, absolutely unacceptably gross.

Do not work here they will change your schedule without notifying you and even if you have FMLA processing they'll fire you even if your significant other is going through personal medical issues not to mention mary likes aggressively grab employees by the arm and treat them like they did wrong when they report and issue #downwithmeijer

Do not place orders for pick up or delivery. I've tried several times. Pick up, the last 3 times I showed up and things were wrong. Once they gave me the wrong order and the next 2 times they didn't have it ready and said I had to do my own shopping. Then they charged me for the pick up order I never got.
Ordering delivery is slightly better but only slightly. The last 2 times I've not gotten what I've ordered and no communication from the shopper. I'm currently waiting for my shopper who told me something wasn't in stock over 50 minutes ago and didn't respond to my text back. The next message I got was that the order was done 30 minutes ago. When I sent another text asking about substitutions I received a text "sorry, i'll be there in 10 minutes". This was 20 minutes ago.
The store is ok. Not the nicest Meijer I've been in, not terrible. Not happy with the customer service I got about being charged twice. I was told it was my bank's problem not theirs. No apology.
I get it. Low pay, probably asking a lot from their employees but it sucks for us.
...Still waiting for my order.
