To whom it may concern, I want to start out by saying that I absolutely love Ace Hardware; however, my experience at the Ace Hardware in Berkley, Michigan (stores closest crossroads are Greenfield and 12 Mile). Although all the employees were genuinely nice and all following the appropriate COVID protocols set up in Michigan, one employee (taller gentlemen with longish brown/black hair) was NOT wearing a mast, NOT maintaining a 6-foot social distancing and talking to customers, me included, with no prompting other than to -what seemed like- to get close and chat to them. I have been to the Ace Hardware in Oak Park (on 9 Mile) and have had absolutely no issues. My main issue is that you have signs posted everywhere about masks and spots on the floor to maintain the social distancing- which in my experience- employees and customers are generally following. Maybe a discussion with the Berkley, Michigan store regarding safety protocols would be an effective solution to this issue. During these unprecedented time, stores -Ace Hardware included- should be following all of the COVID safety guidelines to give a sense of security to their customers and keep them coming back. Thank you and feel free to reach out if you find it necessary.

I'm so disappointed to see that no employees in this store are wearing masks. Not only that, when I went in to look for paint in an empty aisle, an unmasked employee entered the aisle I was in and proceeded to have a coughing fit. I left and will be seeking out paint elsewhere.

I was first said that East took over a cold, but not after I'd been here many times. This is my go to for any last-second items I need for repair in the house. We had a screw, caulk for the sink or bathrooms. Lightbulbs, paint or even Christmas lights during the holidays. I bought some non- brand-named tools here for a quick repair as well. They have everything from lower and mid-branded items tools. It's essentially a mini Home Depot or Lowe's. It's so quick and convenient since it's only two blocks away from my house. The prices seem a little cheaper than the hardware store on gardenia. They also have paint and other random household items that you might have thought you didn't need. They even have some basic kitchen utensils as well. They have storage bins and the perfect fitting filter for our small compact furnace (14x15x1). Before you make your trip all the way to a Home Depot or to Lowe's, check this place out first.

Nice small hardware store on 4th St in Royal Oak that meets many of my project needs. When I am in a hurry and don't want to drive to Home Depot/Lowes/Menards that are farther away, this store almost always meets my needs and saves me time and gas. Relative to the store, it has all the basic stuff you would expect from a hardware store like Hardware, electrical, paint, plumbing, tools, ... etc and also offers some unique stuff Like Traegger smoker Grilles/supplies/pellets, Craftsman tools and a full assortment of lawn care products. Ace also has a free rewards program where you get periodic cash awards for use with purchases at their store and has some great sales prices to boot. I just received two $5 rewards cards that I will be using at my next trip to this store to buy some Traegger cherry wood pellets for the same cost as on line and avoided the shipping cost. The $5 savings card will be on top of the already low price making the savings on this product a great deal $$$kaching! Overall this store is a good alternative to the big chain stores for smaller projects especially if closer to your home.

I remember when this hardware store was actually built which at that time was ACO hardware store and when ACO went defunct it was under new ownership as Great Lakes Ace Hardware. I love walking throughout the entire store

No longer taking me in store this fantastic hardware store located on fourth Street in downtown Royal Oak is like no other you will find. Since they changed over they have added all kinds of hardware accessories items and it become a true hardware store. Also they are not filled with lay-folk like we are used to atHome Depot and Lowe's. The selection is very great and diverse offering many types of the same item. They even carry old style door latches knobs and what not which is very convenient and City of Royal Oak were most of the older homes are 100 years plus in age. If you live in the City of Royal Oak in the dirt and fertilizer, seed, or just about anything else in hardware Ace is the place. I am at Rimbold I recommend the store. They also have a very good hours. Good stuff have a good day

They recently did a store renovation (within the past year). A medium sized hardware store with a good selection, it's easier to get into and out of quickly when you need to get back to your project compared to the big box stores. I didn't realize this until recently but it is also a cooperative. They are currently doing a promotion (not sure if it's permanent or temporary) where businesses can sign up and get 7% off of every item all the time. I pretty much stick to this place and Frentz and Sons (which still has the most knowledgeable staff of any hardware store around).

Would give zero for today's experience. Previously have had positive experiences, so I'll average my rating. I went to purchase a furnace filter, store brand $4.99. Previously, there had been a sale buy two get one free, but I was pretty sure I missed it. Lo and behold, I walked in the front door and the advertisement was there on the door. I was quite happy that I didn't miss the sale. When I went to check out, the cashier couldn't get it to ring the sale price. I told her the sale was on the front door, she confirmed this and called the manager, the ever helpful Lewis, who would NOT honor the sale even though it was posted on the front door as you entered the store. He reasoning; the expiration was clearly posted and there were no ads by the item.

We pulled into the parking lot right before closing after driving all the way across town. The store was not closed yet and the doors were not locked but as we went to run in to get one bolt we needed the manager ran to the door and said they were already closed and had started a store meeting. I understand if it had been 6pm when they close but it was not yet and they clearly had closed a few minutes early and started the store meeting. If you want to close at 5:55 you should post your new store hours online. Thanks for nothing Ace.

Showed up close to closing and really needed a tool. The Manager didn't let me in even though it would have taken me give minutes to buy what I needed. Hours that were advertised online were incorrect as well.
