“I had a slow leak in one of my car tires, and took it into River Valley Auto just now. Luckily, it ended up being just a nail I had run over, that they removed from sticking out of the tire, and only charged me $20 for it (this was Oct 2025). I'm so glad I didn't have to buy a whole new tire, but next time I do need a new set of tires for my car, I'll be sure to check out River Valley Auto first. Friendly, professional, quick - and they're local too! Highly recommended.”

“I needed a Flatbed tow recently from Rockford to Detroit, to get my vehicle to a performance shop for an engine replacement. I called and spoke to Krista for a quote and scheduling, and she was extremely helpful in communicating between myself and the driver to set up a day/time-frame.The driver showed up on time, was careful loading and securing my car, and made sure to confirm with me that someone would be at the delivery location to receive/unload it. He even went above and beyond to make sure that the shop owner knew that I was going to be there a bit later in the day to sign paperwork (I had made initial arrangements to meet him in Detroit to unload the vehicle, but had to change plans last minute due to a work meeting).I'm very appreciative that Nelson's carefully and securely transported my vehicle over such a distance. I highly recommend Nelson's to anyone looking for a tow in the Rockford area, and will definitely be using them again should I need a tow in the future!”

“I could go on and on about this place. Honest, fair, and skilled in all of your vehicles needs. From body work to engines and electrical, to oil changes and simple maintenance work and tire rotations and brake replacements and such, You name it. They do it. And if they can’t do it or get you in, then best believe they know of someone or place that is trustworthy and fair priced. They’ll find a way to take care of you or ease your worry. You’d be surprised how much extra time and care that they spend with your vehicles that they won’t take credit for, especially if you’re a loyal customer. No mess left and no issue goes unnoticed, and your car drives better than when you bought it. If they have concerns about other things that don’t concern you in the moment, they’re honest and transparent about it and will welcome you back. They inform you of everything possible, and leave the decision to fix it up to you, if you please. They never take advantage. I can’t appreciate this place enough for everything they’ve done for me as a car owner and a human being, and how many times they’ve saved my butt and my car. From battery replacement, sensors, and normal maintenance, changing my headlights, and even replacing my hood when I was in a pinch after hitting a deer. They even color matched my paint. They didn’t let me drive away two-toned lol. Todd and his employees took care of me like no other! They never let a vehicle leave the lot without making sure its road-ready and safe. Simply because they’re just good people with families of their own, making a solid living too. They won’t let you drive it away if it’s not safe for you and your family. The boss man and his lead mechanic (son) know what every knock, rattle and shake your vehicle makes and what it means, and knows exactly how to get the problem solved within the same day, and don’t stop til it’s done. And They are always striving to learn more, to give you an even wider range of services. You get what you pay for and drive away satisfied and feeling like you have a brand new car again. never below expectations, always above in my opinion. I can’t appreciate these men enough for all they’ve done for me and my trusty, rusty car. Appreciate your mechanics. They keep the wheels of this world moving. Without them, we’d be stranded!”
