There's been good, bad, and downright ugly moments with Hawthorne Appliance, which is apparently also ABC Warehouse. After countless hours researching the three appliances we needed for our kitchen, checking the actual appliances out at stores, we went to Hawthorne because their website said the items were in stock. Sales guy wanted to deal with my husband, not me. Never mind the fact that I, the wife, was the one who already had the model numbers selected before we got there. Sales guy wanted only to deal with my husband. Items arrived at the warehouse and thankfully were held for us free, for about seven weeks. That's the good. One item had slight damage. Delivery day, the crew called exactly at 6:00 am. In the morning. 6:00. They arrived at my home at 6:15 in the morning!!!!! They put the Bosch fridge in place, but would not level it or plug it in. Not their job. The Bosch range was put in place but not leveled. It wobbles. A lot. They said it wasn't their job to do that. I paid for it to be installed, they said they don't do it. They would not help. The Fisher & Paykel dishwasher was left in my living room until the installer could come. Sigh. Installer came, said he would only do the dishwasher. Not the fridge or range, not his job. He said delivery guys were supposed to do it. He also said I should not have bought that dishwasher, that it's not a good one. Thanks. A few days later my husband called Hawthorne because the dishwasher is askew, and we still needed the range and fridge leveled. The dishwasher installer called me a few nights later, and read me the riot act. He adamantly repeated that he knew better, he's been installing for 18 years, that he showed me that it was level. I listened to him scold me for seven minutes before I told him it was ASKEW. Level was not the issue. He wouldn't let me talk, told me the problem was my counters and cabinets, was downright condescending. I congratulated him for putting a woman in her place. He didn't appreciate that. We spent $11k on three appliances. I guess we should have spent more, because apparently we bought poor quality items and paying for installation means literally nothing. I don't know how much money is enough, but I guess be prepared to fork out a ton of money. And don't expect any courtesy, especially if you are a female. I will never shop at Hawthorne again. I'll drive to Ohio and buy something there and haul it myself before I do business with them again.

Poor delivery of my appliances. Several dates given without delivery. The installment service was aweful. I bought refrigerator, oven, cooktop, and dish wisher. All had installment issues. The refrigerator was left plastic sticking out in various places. The dishwasher has packaging hanging out the bottom. I asked the installer about this and he didn't have an answer. I'm left to just look at this! The cooktop measurements were done pre install but still had to cut opening on install day.My oven is not placed properly and I'm just suppose ignore this? If I need appliances again(hope not) NEVER will I buy or recommend it from Hawthorne!

They simply don’t stand behind the products they sell. $3000 15 month old GE bottom freezer refrigerator died and they offered ZERO assistance. “Call GE”. Buyer beware. Many better options to buy appliances.

Horrible service after the sale. 15 month old $3000 GE Profile they highly recommended died. Zero help when I called them. Told me to call GE. No kidding. Once they have your $$$ you are dead to them. Don't stand behind their products and don't deserve the one star I gave them.

We purchased a complete appliance group for our kitchen remodel from Hawthorn in Rochester Hills. We had Barry Thompson help us out through the process. Barry and his team were great. We got a great price and they were super flexible with delivery, installation, and support. We had a problem with the new GE Cafe Range and Barry made it right immediately. Delivered a brand new range. Will be a loyal customer to Hawthorn moving forward.

From TV's to kitchen appliances, Hawthorne was where we had shopped for more than forty years. So when our dishwasher quit, they were our first stop and we found one we liked. The price and delivery date were fine, but since our dishwasher was direct wired our salesman explained that the delivery crew would uncrate, examine for damage and place it in our kitchen and they would take away our old dishwasher. We would have to get an electrician to wire it We agreed, but that was not what happened! The delivery "crew" dropped the crated dishwasher in front of our garage and informed my wife that they only delivered! They didn't even uncrate and examine the product. We were to call the store and schedule an installer and when they were done we were to call to then schedule someone to pick up our old one. When we called we were informed that they could recommend an installer but that installation was not covered, we would and have to pay it. This is not the service were used to from this store. It turs out that what were told by the salesman and the pamphlet our recite was in were completely different. The stores new policy even explains that unless you identify damage to the product at time of delivery, they are not responsible. Since the delivery crew refused to uncrate the dishwasher that was not possible. Their new slogan ought to be "we sell, then you are on your own." Hello Home Depot! David Kibby

Came to buy a fridge with my mom but was hounded down immediately and couldn’t even breathe or think as the salesman was nonstop talking and following us and wouldn’t even let us properly see or shop the refrigerators. Horrible experience and my anxiety was thru the roof. Went next door and bought the fridge at homedepot

I purchased a washer and dryer from this place on 05/21/23 and I also paid for delivery and setup. Both items were delivered on 5/24/23 the driver installed the washer but not the gas dryer stating they don’t do that and I would have to hire someone separately for that, so I contacted the sales person and he confirmed what the driver said, so he gave me the phone number for a person that does the dryer installation at an additional cost of $120.00 dollars. This information should have been provided before the sale took place if I had known I would pay an extra fee to have the dryer installed I would have gone somewhere else. Other than that everything else went well with the delivery

Came in to purchase a dishwasher, Mohamed was the sales person who helped us to review the different brands and the features, I was greatly impressed with Mohamed knowledge of each unit and the feathers, without having to look any thing up in the computer. Of the different stores we went to Mohamed was the best sales person and the most knowledgeable about the products his company was selling. Since I am in sales I greatly appreciate a true professional that takes their job seriously. Unfortunately, due to the lack of inventory the unit we decided on was 3-4 weeks from delivery so we ended purchasing from a store that had one in stock.

Unfortunately I have to give a low rating based upon terrible customer service and washing machine problems.I purchased a Whirlpool washer and dryer at Hawthorne Appliances of ABC Warehouse in Rochester Hills on 12/31/22. The machines were delivered and installed on 1/7/23. I immediately found that the washing machine water would not get hot. My landlord who is a professional contractor came to check the machine and found that it was installed properly and hot water was available but the machine was not allowing hot water output. I called Hawthorne/ABC on 1/9/23 and reported the issue. The salesman tried to convince me that I didn’t need hot water to wash my clothes and proceeded to mansplain that I should only be washing whites on hot so I really didn't even need hot water. I told him that yes I did need hot water in my washing machine and I needed my brand new washing machine to work properly. I explained what was happening with the machine and even had my landlord explain the same thing to the man. Hawthorne/ABC sent the same two delivery men back on 1/9/23, who checked the valves, hoses, water temperature, and various cycles, and confirmed what me and my landlord had found- no hot water was coming out. I called Hawthorne/ABC to follow up. The salesman told me that the new washing machines don't get hot- that they have a sensor that won’t allow the water to get hot, and he denied that the delivery men found a problem with the machine. I explained the issue again, that the water would not even get warm and the machine was not working properly.A manager named Kurt attempted to help me, but the general manager Barry ultimately refused. Barry attempted to use the same manipulative tactics as the salesman- he denied that there was a problem, he said that the new washing machines have a sensor that won’t allow the water to get hot, dismissed my contractor landlord’s findings, and he denied that the delivery men found a problem with the machine as well. He refused to swap out the machine for one that worked properly and told me that I had to contact Whirlpool to schedule a service appointment. If I bought a product from a vendor (Hawthorne Appliances/ABC Warehouse) that was defective from the start, why should I be forced to keep a defective product and then seek repair services for it? Because that is how the store operates, apparently.Hours of my time were spent calling Hawthorne/ABC, Whirlpool, and Platinum (the repair service). I scheduled Platinum's earliest service appointment, which was on 1/16/23.FYI, Whirlpool confirmed that the machines do, in fact, get hot water, and that the temperature depends upon the temperature that your hot water is set at (from your hot water heater). They said there is no sensor issue. They referenced their manual, which also states that certain cycles have the hottest settings.I reported this back to Barry but again he refused to help and stated that he did not have “the authority” to replace or return machines that had not been serviced, so if I had further issue I would have to call the ABC customer hotline to talk to his boss Al. The next issue was that the washing machine would not fill up past 1/3 of the way full. The Platinum service repair man came to my home 3 TIMES until he ultimately had to replace the control panel on the washer, (model #WTW4955HW WH). Yes, the water gets hot now, and it fills up to a higher level of water.I had wanted to support a local business but I would not recommend Hawthorne Appliances/ABC Warehouse due to their business practices and toxic approach to customer relations.Telling [female] customers that the new washing machines do not allow the water to get hot is FALSE INFORMATION, and trying to convince a customer that their cold water is the hottest their brand new washing machine will get is a form of gaslighting.
