Got an engagement ring (family heirloom with multiple different diamonds) “appraised” with the employees stating the ring was valued at retail for 600$. Interesting. We went to multiple different jewelers who individually determined the value to be 8-10k. They also determined the cut of the main diamond to be European. Went back to Haig’s and worker who gave us the original appraisal scribbled out her original handwriting where she confidently said the diamond was a round brilliant cut. No confirmation just scratched it out. We asked them for the VALUE of the ring not what they’d buy it for. Didn’t get the colors right, didn’t get the quality right, took 15 minutes and couldn’t tell the cuts of the diamonds, while the other jewelers did the entire process for free and took far less time. And we paid 50$ for this “service” where even the cleaning was less than the other places. To say I believe a refund is in order is the least. This experience was disheartening and embarrassing. Unfortunately we can confidently say we will not be back and can only hope other customers stay weary of their ridiculous markups and inaccurate “appraisals”.

I have been here a few times and always had a good experience. Today I came in and was greeted by two nice women. Then, the owner came and started talking to me about himself for at least 5 minutes. He then went to the employee area and proceeded to speak to the two women in a tone that I couldn’t believe. He talked to them like they were idiots and he was superior. He should be ashamed of himself for how he spoke to his staff. I will never return there and will tell everyone I know to never go there and support that man.

Great local shoe store with a highly knowledgeable owner. Something that is getting harder to find. No Jimmy Choo or Laboutins here..but great quality shoes that are great for your feet!

Small town business wish world class quality. I am a big fan of estate peices, they have a great assortment. They do custom work too and do a lot in the community.

If you are black DO NOT shop with this place or get anything appraised. If you come in there with an expensive item to get appraised, they will racial profile you and discriminate against you just like they did me and there gold reader cannot detect real gold or fake gold, so it is a strong possibility that they are selling fakes.

Yet another great experience at Haig’s.Without a doubt the most professional, friendly, knowledgeable and caring staff one could hope to meet. Would recommend this store to anyone. Also love their commitment to our local community. Great people. Absolutely the best. (Their canine ambassador Ruby is the sweetest dog ever and a bonus to visiting the store !)

I could not be happier with a custom ring they made. The process was easy, the staff was wonderful, especially Nova. The prices are fair. I now have a place I can refer as “my jewelry store”

Mr. Haig was an absolute pleasure to do business with. After thoroughly researching the right fit to entrust someone with appraising, and possibly purchasing my grandmother's natural, antique pearl necklace, I knew from the moment I sat down with Mr. Haig himself, his knowledge, the thoroughness and precision of his work, and his staff had me in the best hands. I cannot say enough about the whole experience. Not only did I walk away feeling so reassured, I also gained quite a bit of knowledge, and will definitely be back. If you'd also like to see one of the most architecturally stunning buildings in downtown Rochester, this is the place.
