Terrible customer service! Don’t waste your time here, plenty of other local consignment shops. I had called yesterday seeing how I’ve never used this shop. I was walked through the process at clothes mentor. The person I spoke with was nice and informative but did not tell me about any “specific” times.
Context: I’m a single dad and my son’s birthday is in a week, spent a little too much on his special day and thought I’d offload some older nice items I have. With the little free time I have.
So around 4pm today I head out to clothes mentor in Rochester. Which is almost an hour drive from my house. Knowing they close at 7.
I walk in with my 3 items and say hi. I’m responded not with a “hi” or a “welcome” but we stopped buying at 4pm. My jaw dropped and I was kinda shocked seeing how I just drove so far. Frustrated I accept it and leave.
I start walking back towards my car and it dawns on me, this 4pm stop buying time was never mentioned on my phone call from yesterday. I turn around with a persistent mindset and hopefully I can talk to a “reasonable… understanding” manager who could help a brother out.
Well the manager happened to be the first person I talked to, that was so quick to tell me they are not buying.
Context: there are currently about 4-5 employees working and no customers. This “manager” is just leaning on the register, day dreaming.
I kindly express my phone call yesterday and gently plead that I’ve driven all this way and if someone could please just look at my 3 items. It was a solid NO, with zero empathy or understanding. She also let me know they’ve been buying ALL DAY LONG. Implying she was exhausted and didn’t want to do anymore.
Customer service is a standard that is so far lost these days… and this place has none of it. Especially the manager working on 9/20/24 at 5pm.

This is the most poorly run location I have ever been to. Buying hours? Never heard of it until now. And what is the point of having buying hours if you don’t honor them? Shameful…

I have spent several years looking for a very specific Chanel bag that was only made for one year. I found it doing a google lens search at this shop. I ordered it on Wednesday morning and it arrived Saturday morning. It was packaged perfectly and in even better shape than the description and pictures showed. The price was very fair and they shipped it for free. They emailed all the way through the process. Email to confirm my order, another one when they had it packed and ready for pick up, another when it was picked up, another with tracking, and finally an email when it was delivered. It was a great buying experience. I'll definitely check their website in the future and if I end up in Michigan I'll absolutely visit the store.

I would try to avoid this place if you're trying to sell your clothes. Unless you want to donate them then yes this is the place because they literally give you almost nothing for your brand name clothes. Took in mostly lululemon, banana republic, Ann Taylor and Nike, they took 13 items for $104!! Like are you serious? While they looked at my clothes I shopped around and saw what they charging for their clothes and lululemon bottoms go from $39-$55! But yet they gave me under $10 for my Lululemon bottoms! A absolute rip off. Also gave them my Nike blazers like new condition, a couple Ann Taylor dresses with tags on, I mean just ridiculous! They offered $135 for store credit but if you want cash that offer drops a lot! In my case to $104 from $135. Their resale items are pretty high priced for being used clothes/bags like a Louis Vuitton bag was priced at $1000 when I know the new version of that is $1200! And I'm sure they offered the seller around $300 for that bag.Stay clear as I said, they rip you off, try poshmark or maybe even style encore.

Do not shop here. I purchased a formal dress for a family member and was taking a chance on the size so asked the return policy at the time of checkout. I was told with receipt, tags and within 7 days. I tried to return the dress 3 days later with tags and receipt and was told that I could not return the item because it was discounted. Had the employee communicated this properly I would have never made the purchase. They chose not to make this right with me and I will not shop here again and will make sure nobody else I know does! Terrible customer experience!

Not the place to sell pre-loved. You are much better off doing it online with Rebag, 1st Dibs, or RealReal. Pennies on the dollar. I was offered $80 for Balenciaga bag. Today, I sold it to Bag Borrow or Steal for $440.

The last couple of times I've been in there, everything looked real tired. I haven't been able to find anything I liked.

Happened upon this store not knowing it was going to be full of such great second hand clothing. It's all gently used and many new with tag items. There are high end designer, LV, Chanel, Tom Ford. There is en entire rack of Lululemon and Lily Pulitzer. Clothes, shoes, purses, sunglasses, they're have it all. I love shopping here!

Dropping off clothes for my wife initially they were fine. They asked if my wife was deceased I said no. Then asked if she had been there before , I said no. She said she couldn't accept it because of a city ordinance. I don't quite get that but but this older lady with curly gray hair jumped in and was so rude to me. Ok I get if there is a stupid ordinance but just be nice or at least cordial.. I will never go back there and we had nice stuff. I would rather donate to Goodwill than walk in there again.RS

my mom and I went shopping here, we are from two different generations and don’t always find fun shops we both can shop at. Well, here we can! It was a great experience. Kia, at Rochester location, was so knowledgeable and helpful. We are so excited to go back.

I have bought and sold here.. I can’t give my review about anything but designer products, customer service and organization of the company. If selling designer, i personally don’t recommend it at all. You won’t receive a good offer at all. If you’re in need of fast cash and has to sell, it’ll be a smooth process along with great customer service. The turn around is usually 60-90 mins. The employees are pretty nice and helpful, and so is the owner. If pricing on designer was better, id give this place 5 stars easily.

Worst resale shop. Overpriced and they don't buy anything from you. I will definitely always recommend Plato's closet over this place. So stupid.

First time selling women's clothing to a resale shop and wasn't sure what to expect. This store was very well organized and had very attractive merchandise. My drop off was hassle-free, the wait was about an hour, and I left with money in my pocket. I will definitely be back to sell and buy.
