I attempted to rent a storage unit on a Sunday. I needed to store items from my recently deceases father and was working under a tight timeline. Unfortunately, I decided to rent from Richland Self Storage. Their website is great for getting payment, however, there is nothing about how to access your paid for unit. Additionally, the lease agreement just states that you will lose possessions if you are 16 days late, nothing more.I went through the process of setting up an account, entering payment information, being charged for my unit and receiving a receipt indicating I had a move in date for Sunday. However, nowhere on the website does it say how to access the unit, how to set up a gate pin, or what to do if you have problems.I called the number listed and received a recorded message indicating their office hours are 8-5 M-F. I left a voicemail message, however, after over an hour of waiting, I made other emergency arrangements for the items on my truck and trailer.I would recommend not having a web registration and payment system if it is this poor. Additionally, you should have someone who responds to emergency calls.

I've had a lot of storage lockers/units over the years. I think I'm pretty familiar with the norms of how they work. I suppose this place deserves a little credit for picking up the phone - more than some other places can manage - but the conversation I had with the woman who answered was frustrating and insulting. The website asks you to create a gate code, but they have no gate. Only an idiot would be confused, right? No. Also - no gate??
