Had some issues with Gary being very mean, but I spoke with Josh, and it got straightened out. Just don't deal with Gary, and you'll be fine.

Called for some information and was told I'd be called back. A week later I called again and they set up an appointment to check things out. They never showed up. If you're reading this and want to waste your time, that's all you.

my son applied called them over and over and over again and they never called him back when when the day came to start still no call then he had to call them to be told he wasn't hired because you hand to be able to lift 200lbs by yourself.... if that was the case why are you posting the job in a high school and saying anywhere from 14 and up can work??? they are really irresponsible to say the least I'll never recommend you to work there or do business with ppl that get a kids hopes up and then crush them it's ridiculous

I hired Dockmaster to take out 2 sections of dock, last fall. They were supposed to come back this spring and put them back in. On May 11th, the same day Dockmaster was scheduled, I had a brand new boat delivered. I tried calling several times that day, to verify what time instalation would be complete. The phone lines must have been down. I was unable to even get a ring tone. So around 530pm, I see the guys on the boat. I stop to ask about my dock, this is when they informed me, one of my stringers was broken. I asked if they could put one section in or do anything, so I could dock my boat. They were obviously ready to get home. The only thing they offered was to call the store and ask about getting a used section. My neighbors were kind enough to allow me to use their dock. I sent an email to Dockmaster that evening. I left phone messages Thursday, Friday and Monday. On Tuesday I finally spoke with someone. I asked for a solution. I said I have been ghosted for days and if the dock was broke, they should've told me last fall, when they pulled it out. I was still calm and at this point, I would've purchased a whole new dock. I was appalled by the response, I received. He informed me, they have 150 customers and don't have time to respond to me or provide me with a solution. Well today May, 22, 2022 I had a man drive from Hillsdale, MI and put the same dock in, all by himself! 1 man, 2 hours, the same dock they claimed couldn't be installed. I planned on purchasing a canopy but I would never hire Dockmaster for anything.Sue JonesLake Doster

Called about a specific bumper for my dock. Guy didn’t understand a simple explanation of what item I was in search of.Instead rattled off a price and description that was in not even close in description or price point. Tried to work with this, but was abruptly cut off and told to come show him what I wanted and he had other matters to deal with.I don’t normally leave reviews and very rarely bad ones, but if this is the kind of customer service this company wants to provide, I would rather go further and pay more than to support this negativity.Would not suggest them. Plenty of other places that are much more courteous!

We purchased a dock from Dock Masters a couple of years ago and since then have had them install the dock in the spring and remove it in the fall. The guys doing the installation and removal have done a very nice job! This year we called in early March to have the dock installed in April and then called back to delay it based on information from the drain commissioner concerning lake levels. Once we learned not much was coming from the drain commissioner, we called again, in early April, to get on the installation schedule and were told we were added and the dock would be installed by the end of April...sounded great!Yesterday, April 28, 2022, we called again to check on the status as the end of the month is near and the dock is not in. We were informed by Josh that since we had cancelled earlier we were not on the schedule. He further informed us that four of his crew had called in sick today and that the crew had already been to the 'DAM' lake sometime ago and would not be going back anytime soon, for efficiency sake. We were not allowed to schedule installation and were told they would get to it at some point in the future and would call a couple of days ahead of time. This guy was a total jerk to my wife and probably did not realize I too was on the phone. His customer service, as others have said, STINKS!He could have easily said, "There was a snafu with scheduling, looks like you didn't make the schedule, sorry, but we will put you on for a later date." Instead, he acted like he could care less about us or whether we ever did any business with them.My wife asked me this morning if I thought Josh would call and apologize and I said it was highly unlikely. Looks like I was correct, not a word...doesn't seem to care. The only reason I am giving them two stars instead of one star is because the installation crew has done a good job for us and deserves some credit.

I've been using Dockmaster for several years to install and remove my dock and boat lift. I agree with some of the other reviewers comments regarding Gary's unprofessional and rude customer service, but I overlooked it so I could continue using the same company each year. However, last fall when they removed my dock and lift, they removed my solar panel on my lift without telling me, they scattered my dock hardware across my lawn (never did find some pieces) and they failed to lower the legs on my dock for storage. I called Josh (Gary's helper) to report the issues and get resolution - he explained that they are now automatically storing peoples solar panels (for a fee), and they would take care of the other issues by sending a guy out. They sent a guy out to bring my solar panel back, but he also broke a hose clamp in the process..... none of the other issues were addressed. This spring, I call to have them install the boat lift and they tell me they won't be providing me with service any longer and I'd need to find another provider. This company makes me feel like I am being punished for expecting basic customer service and to do a complete job.Absolutely shameful! I do not recommend getting service from this place and am also disappointed in their rude and unprofessional customer service.

We have been customers of Dockmaster for the last 3 years to install and remove our boatlift each spring and fall and also to repair it. In total, we have paid them $3,658.68 for their services. I made an appointment a month ago for them to put the boatlift back in the water this spring again. I also just purchased a new dock from Captain's Choice in St. Johns Michigan. Dockmaster had told a neighbor that they could not come close to Captains Choice prices. Now, after a month, I get a vm message from Josh from Dockmaster that they are "canceling my appointment and won't have time, so best of luck!" I immediately called him back but no answer....twice. I called again and Gary (the owner) answers and tells me that since I purchased my new dock from Captains Choice, they weren't going to install my boatlift anymore. Others on our lake have had similar experience with them. They canceled me as a customer for my boatlift because I bought a dock despite being a good customer and paying them almost $4000 over the last 3 years! How's that for professionalism?! Don't walk, RUN from these guys (and check out Captains Choice for a quality dock at a decent price)!

There was a mistake and the person who was supposed to come give me an estimate didn't come to our appointment. I called and they sent someone else out right away and they were wonderful!

I’ve been a customer for 5 years bought all my dock and lifts from them had great service. This year the install crew was poor to say the least missing screws upside down boat bumper sticking 2ft into the air the other 3 mounted down to protect my boat… mid summer 2 more sections of dock were purchased $3k for both in addition to the 6 other sections and lifts I had purchased from them. They installed them again leaving out more screws again and this time failed to move a bumper from the shallow section to the new section resulting in several thousand dollars in damage to my boat on its first trip to the new dock…upon removal of my lifts they forgot where toPut them and put half of one on paver brick patio AFTER they bounced it off my flagpole. My family has spent well over 20 thousand dollars on docks and lifts and have used them exclusively for in and outs as well as tons of recommendations. Gary and Josh are nice people but I can’t continue to do business or refer people to them.

Didnt like I believe his name was Josh he was more worried about whether or not to run my charge card in case I wanted to return it. Should have taken the time to explain about my purchase. Because he lost a customer who was gonna buy a new boat lift this year and hydro sweep and aluminum dock next year. Bought a swim plat form last year another words a customer.
