Loved, loved, loved the garlic pasta! Amazing! However, the times listed they are open is not accurate, we drove from Port Huron last Sunday and it was closed. ? I was SO looking forward to that delicious pasta! We were going to drive up again this past Saturday, but couldn't get an answer on my cell phone by calling the resturant or motel.?♀️. If they are closed for the season, it should be listed, and ANY changes in their hours should be updated...daily!

Items on online menu are non existent in reality. No brisket, ribs etc. ( They are highlighted on their online menu)! Extremely limited menu. Food was only marginal and overpriced. Beer was cold but overpriced also. Very disappointed. We won't be back.

Food is beyond bland, service nonexistent. Literally shrimp chunks on a hot dog bun with a tiny bit of butter and a few green onions chopped on top. The salad had no taste either, no dressing just arugula and like four tiny apple pieces sliced super thin. Had to wait forever for the bill, no one asked how dinner was, had to ask bus boy for check, the experience was all about waiting and bland food.

NO MORE BBQ, and so disappointed. Yelp should remove this as "one of the best BBQ restaurants" on their list. It used to be. Now it has "small plates" and menu that looks "ok" . Sorry to say.... we were seated, and received menus and after seeing the menu, we called the host over and asked about BBQ. He said, "Nope, not doing that anymore." We left. There really is no real good BBQ place near Port Austin in my opinion. Maybe this place will go back to BBQ again-It was pretty slow for a Friday night, maybe that is why, the new menu.

Port Austin is our favorite family trip. Second time staying here at Dark Sky and loved it. Swam in the heated pool, hiked, walked to the beach, ate delicious food while listening to live music one night Karaoke the next(so fun)! Enjoyed the star gazing at night. Exhausted every night and thankful to a soft cozy bed.Rooms: We had room 1. Loved the vintage motel vibe with an actual room key. Very clean. Bed was so comfortable and cozy. Loved the giant photo on the wall. Big clean bathroom. It was so cool to have a bird watching book, binoculars, and a hammock to borrow.Nearby activities: Great location to the beach, had a great bar and restaurant attached. Enjoyed the Farm restaurant down the road. Port Austin town was just down the road. We kayaked to Turnip Rock, walked on the break wall. People we’re fishing off. Farmers market, golf, horseback riding, lavender fields, mini golf, giant ice cream serving, butterfly garden, rented e bikes in town. Canoed the pinnebog river. Raced cars at the mini track. Listened to live music at PAks and shopped. Very full week.Walkability: State park trail next to motel. easy hike to a beautiful sandy Lake Huron beach. Many other trails to hike around the area.Food & drinks: Excellent beer and drink selection. Food was delicious.Noteworthy details: Great pool, loved the star gazing at night!

Stayed 2 nights at Dark Sky Lodge. They have turned this old road side motel into a gem. Very nice rooms, extremely clean and nice decor. Only 5 rooms so it is a quaint, quiet motel. The pool area is awesome and you pretty much have it to yourself. Temp on pool was 84degrees, very nice. Hiking trails in Crescent State Park are walking distance. Definitely will be back, price was very reasonable. Ate at the restaurant and it was very good, BBQ shrimp was excellent! There was also a one man band on the patio that was very entertaining. Loved our stay.

First and last time we will come to this restaurant. Since they opened a year ago, everyone has bragged up their smoked BBQ menu.... Well they have changed it to a few sandwiches and pasta dishes. We were told by waitress that they had a new chef and menu, that everything was made from scratch...... I had the ham and cheese sandwich. It was on a very dry ( much more than a day old) bun. The shaved ham was a glob of folded lunch meat in the middle of the rectangle bun. I'm not sure how they managed to melt the cheese, but middle of ham glob was cold. My husband had the chicken sandwich topped with slaw, it was nothing special and definitely not " made from scratch". The breaded chicken patty looked like the ones you get in the freezer case at Aldi's grocery. He also said it was very dry. Both sandwiches seemed like premade microwave type sandwiches. Also, these sandwiches were on the menu as " Large plate entrees". The plates were more like 8" luncheon plates. There was no pickle or chips on plate...just sandwich.

Stopped by and had brunch with my wife. First time visiting and we shared the fried egg sandwich and shrimp and grits. Both dishes were excellent and worthy to lick the plate. Staff was friendly and attentive. Will visit again to try the dinner menu. Excellent and great value.

This place is a hidden gem. We flew in from Oregon not expecting much and we're happily surprised when we checked in. The rooms were very clean and updated with all sorts of fun amenities. I'm talking about eno hammocks to take to the beach. New binoculars. Water proof bags for cell phones and.....a really sick pool out back with New lounge chairs and hammocks to lounge in. The beach is waking distance down a little path with a fun bridge to cross. The owner is very hands on and very helpful and friendly. I'm looking for a reason to come back as soon as possible. Almost forgot to mention how delicious the food is. 6 out of 5 stars. There are only 5 rooms so book one while you can!!!Rooms: Very clean and updatedWalkability: Only a short walk to the beach from the lodgeFood & drinks: Great menu and beer selection

Meals were delicious. I had the angel hair pasta, my husband had the ham and cheese, we shared the arugula salad with apples. Service was great, very friendly and efficient!

The motel description was quite misleading - "nestled in Port Crescent State Park" actually meant next to the park right on M25. Our front door was about 30ft from the road, which meant sitting on the little patio included all traffic noise from the highway. Not what I expected. The room was pleasant and the park was an easy walking distance, but I was most definitely disappointed in the atmosphere.

Love the atmosphere, location, and staff. My only issue is really the pre main dish process and this review is meant only to provide feedback for a rebooting restaurants success. D.S. stear away from basic coffee and cup creamers- a good cup of coffee with actual cream goes a long way especially when waiting awhile for brunch. Biscuits need to be fresh and hot, a cold biscuit under gravy is off, seemed like it was not maintained under a warmer. Shrimp roll was lacking style points, needed to be chopped and loaded with butter a simple binder on a buttered and toasted bun. Mine was large shrimp large chopped on a cold hot dog bun. Shrimp were good if you wanted steamed cocktail shrimp. I ate them but it was not the shrimp roll experience that I was wishing for, very plain, basically allot of good quality shrimp chopped on a bun. Points for the shrimp but needs the shrimp roll flair. My salad was all arugula with very little dressing, 3 people ordered salad and no one finished it. A salad should be neutral with flavor pops- less sharp arugula flavor maybe a house Michigan cherry or cucumber dressing, local vegies. Like the coffee, first impressions set the mood, nobody is critical when waiting for a main course when happy with the initial drink, coffee, app or salad. Appetizer was the brussel sprouts, I'm thinking air fried to audente. Crisp and hot but almost raw so very sharp in flavor- not finished by a table of six, maybe a sweet balsamic vinegarette to top and a few more minutes to cook. Now to the great- amazing fried chicken, pasta dishes were all amazing and plates cleaned, drinks were great, eggs perfect- the main dinner dishes were spot on. If D.S. can get some small first dish issues tweaked then they will rock that place. Wishing them the best and want this place to succeed! P.S. staff are great!
