Never has availability. Literally have tried for months. I believe others when they say this shelter seeks a certain demographic. It's quite sad for those families in need.

Haven has shown me unwavering support and kindness. I am so grateful to their commitment to my safety and all the survivors I've met through their support services.

I called here because I need help. The lady on the phone put me on hold 5 times. When I finally did speak to someone, she made me feel like since my abuser doesn't have weapons(that I know of) and I have no physical marks, it's not a problem. After being put on hold the 5th time, I was told that the shelter was full and couldn't help me but she'd email me a list of resources I could try. I never received any email. I guess I'm supposed to just endure the daily verbal and financial abuse and hope that he beats me just to finally get help.

Haven has been lying about assisting woman in the intake crisis center for over two years. I called them two years ago and they advised they only take woman of domestic abuse or recovering addicts. They said my abuse wasn't recent enough like that makes sense it was not that long before like a month. Then I call for my sister this Morning and they said they do not take recovering addicts. Which is it Haven? Or do you lie to make it hard for these struggling woman?

I have received nothing but phenomenal support from the advocate that has constantly reassured me since the night I had to have to her wake up and run in for the exam, that I am not a bother or a nuisance even in moments I feel that way. Their therapists have reached out offering all types of services including individual, group, and medical. They cooperate with the police and anyone else you do not keep comfortable or strong enough to. The only minor con would be my experience with the forensic nurse i the interview and exam but to my knowledge had already been addressed. I cannot thank them enough for all they’ve done in such a short amount of time.

I have reason to believe the “crisis hotline” employees are using discriminative practices when deciding to let victims enter the shelter. I was told previously that black women called and were told there was no space, but they had room for Caucasians or other races. I decided to see for myself. I work with victims all the time and I gave a young black female the number in hopes that she could get assistance. She was told they didn’t have space and she called me right away to inform me. I called about 5 minutes later and I was told they had room and asked me what was the situation. I was shocked and didn’t want to get involved in a confrontation so I hung up. However, I will be filing a complaint. All victims deserve fair treatment and should be allowed the same information as the next. Shame on you Haven!!!

I was trying to privately seek counsel from Haven but this place is so disorganized that it is impossible. I spoke with the operator and was asked specifically what time I would be available to talk on the phone to which I responded Monday through Friday 9:00 am until 2:00pm. Well that was pointless to ask because the counselor called at 5:00pm when I was not comfortable having the conversation. So thanks a lot Haven. And ladies if your life is truly in danger call somewhere else.
