I've concluded my business with Midwest Power Equipment for good. Pretty much you can read between the lines. Concur with all those one stars.

I recently called to inquire about the general maintenance special and I spoke to a very rude young lady named Taya or tara....I've heard nothing but wonderful things about the service, but this person almost acted annoyed that I was even asking?? She had a rude tone and a bit of an attitude talking about "well ma'am we aren't able to get to you for at least a few weeks so do you want to go on the list or not?" And I couldn't believe how rude she was. When I asked to speak to a manager she quickly said he's in a meeting I can have him call you. I said no that's okay I'll go elsewhere. If a manager sees this, you need to watch that girl tara or Taya or whatever her name was because she's gonna drive people away very rude

Have been going here for decades. This new location is their 4th move in this area. Business has steadily grown over the yrs. Service & sales have always been excellent. They have now expanded to include a large spacious Ace Hardware franchise. Looked the new location over. They have a very large selection of hardware products. Appear to have also expanded their power equipment offerings. Have bought various power equipment over the yrs. Always recd very good sales & service. It's a very well managed business. Highly recommend them.

This summer they took three months to repair my riding mower. I really think they lost track of the order. Now they have our snowblower.. a belt.. three weeks and holding. Probably very capable repair people but a disastrous front office that can't track orders or communicate with customers.. done with this shop.an update to this review.. i spoke to the owner and think now that my two experiences were just at a bad moment in the history of the business. I'll come back for my next repair and hope that the front office problems are being repaired...

In the middle of getting my snow blower fixed. The prices for starter are inflated, I understand making a profit but for a carburetor for that machine is $10-$20. They are charging $80 which would be 4-8x profit margins. The price is a gouge for sure. But because of my inability to easily move this machine around I went with it currently. This is the part that really gives them a one star. I asked a person about "followup" for whatever reason this is a sin in Michigan. I said when is my blower going to have the part "not sure", okay, I'm going to need a little more than that so I kept pressing. I proceeded to ask, when will you followup "when it's done", no kidding? I wouldn't have guessed that. I said will you followup with an update at any point "we're just not sure when it will be done". it kind of goes on like that. The good news is my snow blower will be done some time in infinity with the promise and guarantee of absolutely no follow up what so ever within that time frame until it's complete. So as the customer I went above and beyond for this business and promised to get back to them every week until something is done, and if it's not done in two weeks I'm just taking my blower back and asking for half the "labor" if you can call it that, back. Since apparently I'm the one currently doing a majority of the work.If they manage to somehow recover from this I'd change my review, but it's unlikely.EDIT: On 01/15/24 spoke with owner or manager, they made an attempt to fix any service issues. However the service issues remained the same. Even after 01/15/24, no phone calls or texts were made as promised. Late afternoon on 01/16/24 I ended up calling them to make payment that way I could have someone help pick the snowblower up for me. I gave reasonable time for the call to take place on when to pick it up, but I think it was inevitably never going to happen.Someone else I know said after using a carburetor 4 times on a blower even with gasoline in the tank, would almost certainly after a little over one year would be very unlikely the carburetors "rusted out". He thinks it's more likely it was a floater. Likely was gouged for 150 in total at this point. On top of no service, it sounds like the team that services potentially lies to replace parts that aren't required, or have no idea what they are doing. I hope neither are the case, but I was skeptical of the carburetor going into this already, so it does make sense that it wasn't the carburetor. The part when he asked to inspect it was already thrown out (convenient).I could care less about the money, but bad business practice or lack of core values I don't tolerate. I wouldn't recommend a place like this, best taking your experience elsewhere.

The new location @ 7410 E Saginaw St, Haslett, MI 48840 is open! I’ve been driving past it for a few months anxiously waiting.Midwest Power + ACE = ConvenienceFriendly staff were as excited about the place being open as I was, which is refreshing. No more lengthy drive to run a simple hardware store / yard utility errand! They even inquired if there was something I was in need of that they didn’t carry, they would do their best to get it on order. Try getting that at Home Depot or Lowe’s, doubtful.

I was in the Lansing area and was looking for a good battery powered snow shovel for a reasonable price. Sherri helped me find a good toro snow shovel. I used it after about 4 inches of snow (I live up North) and the kids walked on it several times. It worked great! It threw snow up to about 30 feet and I can see my sidewalk again. Sherri was very helpful and the guys put it together for me for no extra cost. Thank you!

Jon and all the staff are great to work with. This year I replaced everything in preparation for retirement and I could not be happier with all the new equipment. Jon takes the time to help you select the right gear and to answer all of your questions. Their pricing and service cannot be beat, just call around. The service department did some work on my 20-year old equipment and had it running like new for a very reasonable charge. Jon actually took the time to contact me at the end of the season and ask me how everything was running and if I was happy…that says it all. Midwest Power Equipment has great staff, competitive pricing, and a showroom full of premium gear, what more could you look for in a business. Regards, Dave

I originally rated Midwest with a 1 star. Jon reached out to us to discuss our experience. We went in for a face to face discussion and talked through our concerns and issues. This is an owner who cares about his business and his customers. My negative opinion and experience ended with a positive outcome. I will go back in the future.

The people at Midwest Power Equipment are very helpful and not pushy. I came in last week with my dad to look at chainsaws and we end up purchasing one. The experience was wonderful. The guy we worked with knew alot about chainsaws and took his time to show us the different saws and the benefits of them.I will definitely be coming back again if I need help with anything else. I can't wait for their Ace to open for even more fun things to look at.
