We brought one of our pups here because they could get her in quickly. We had to make the decision to send her over the rainbow bridge at that time. The staff was amazing and did everything to comfort us. When we had our second senior dog that we had to make the same decision for, there was no question that we were coming here.

As someone who has experienced this hospital inside and out first hand, who has received improper diagnoses from this hospital for their own pets and who has had numerous colleagues, clients and friends disappointed by this hospital repeatedly…I cannot, in good conscience, recommend taking your pet here. You don’t tell owners of a dying dog requesting euthanasia that they have to wait 3 hours! I don’t care how busy any ER or any clinic is…emergency euthanasia IS A PRIORITY. Thank God there are other options in our area and they have a friend in vet med to tell them they should’ve never called this hospital in the first place!

My cat murph recently had to have emergent surgery here & everyone was amazing. The nurses, doctors, and front desk people were all so kind. Having your fur baby have issues is scary in itself but everyone made it a positive experience. Thank you!

If you EVER have any sort of emergency please do yourself and your pet a huge favor and take them here. Last night I had to take my rabbit in for gut stasis. Not only were we taken into a room very promptly but the technician, Maureen, started the appointment off by putting my completely at ease. She was so sweet, caring and compassionate. She explained everything they were going to do for him very thoroughly and at the end she went over an optional more budget friendly outpatient plan with me, since emergency vet visits can be extremely expensive. I very much appreciated that. He is now relaxing at home and I have everything I need to help him recover. The doctor we saw was also a very smart, sweet young woman. Hopefully I wont need to make another emergency visit, but if I do I won’t even consider going anywhere else. Thank you so much, AEC. Keep up the good work.

I recently had to take my dog Dixie in for what I thought was bloat - turns out it is heart disease. She was in the early stages of heart failure, and they got her in immediately upon our arrival. The doctor was very gentle in breaking the news to us, giving us an 6-month prognosis and allowing us some time to alone in the room to process this information. They were very quick in letting us know the estimate of the charges before beginning her treatment. They allowed us ample time to decide how we wanted to proceed, and to say goodbye, before keeping Dixie for the night for treatment and monitoring. We received regular calls at shift changes of how she was doing and were assured that she wouldn’t be alone, which a friend of mine who worked closely with them at another local vet confirmed. They also assured me I could call at anytime to check up on her.I also received a detailed phone call from the cardiologist after Dixie’s ECG. She answered all of my questions with compassion, and I never felt like I was being rushed off of the phone.Upon picking Dixie up, they gave us a detailed rundown of her treatment going forward. They started her off with free donated meds, and told us where we could get her heart monitor and meds for potentially cheaper than through them. They said to send the cardiologist regular updates of her heart reports, and to call if I ever have any questions or inkling of something being wrong in the future.Dixie is not the greatest with strangers, but they told me that she really liked her caretaker Olivia, and she was being a champ with their probing and treatment. I know my girl well; she would have put up a fight if they were not being gentle with her. This place *truly* cares - they’re not all about the money.I feel confident going back in here when Dixie starts to decline from her disease; I know they will prioritize her comfort. As hard is it will be to let her go, I know they will make the process as smooth as it can be.Thank you to all the staff at AEC.

Can't speak highly enough of the staff and doctors here. They helped us navigate a very difficult situation with kindness, compassion, and patience. All of the employees we interacted with were knowledgeable, respectful, direct and clear with communication. Even though we did not have a good outcome for our pet, it was such a relief to have caregivers we could trust to do the best thing for our little guy. Thank you so much for all that you do.

We lost our 15 year old dog a few weeks ago after a late night emergency visit to this clinic. While it was an extremely emotional, difficult time in our lives, we were incredibly touched by the staff who worked here. Everyone was very patient, gentle, and understanding, especially the doctor that walked us through what was happening. We were also brought to tears by the handwritten card we received with personal notes by every staff member. I know they do this all the time, but in our moment of grieving, it helped us feel less alone. The respect they gave our sweet old man will never be forgotten and I am glad he received his end of life care there.

Never bring your animal here. My wife and I waited for over 2 hours without being seen and decided to walk out of the building. We took our dog to another ER on a Sunday morning and was told she had hours to live due to a punctured lung. Our pup is in recovery but still not make it. Every second counts and this place isn’t the one you want to make them count at.

Very thankful for the compassionate staff & doctor that were working the night of Nov 17/18th when we rushed our 3 year old Aussie Murphy there with seizures. Unfortunately we lost our buddy and it was very emotional for our family, they were very kind. They are special people because I could not do their job…. I am sure it’s tough to see people go through loss & see the loss of animals themselves. We were surprised with a box from them with our dogs footprint for a keepsake. ?? So kind & thoughtful!!

Brought our families very sick hedgehog in as an emergency visit. The staff was through, kind, and helpful. They clearly discussed all options available, and did the necessary tests to diagnose the problem. They gave her antibiotics and a week later our little hedgehog is back to her happy and healthy self.

Bird owners beware! Dr. Hughes and staff killed my Umbrella Cockatoo. Took her there as she was having difficulty laying an egg. They sedated, x-rayed, gave her pain medicine, antibiotics, and medicine to help her pass the egg. The Dr. suggested I take her home. She never recovered from the sedation/medicine. I called 6 hours after leaving the office concerned about how she was not recovering from the sedation. I was assured it was normal and could take 8-12 hours. By 11 hours after leaving the office she was dead. Do not take you bird there.

AEC made a terrible experience even worse! The "time" (to euthanize) our senior dog unfortunately came after hours, and this was the closest place open. We called ahead to get a room and make sure they were prepared so our baby didn't have to continue to suffer. They were so rude and made us wait to fill out paperwork with complete disregard for our dog. Then, we waited and waited for the vet to come in, and when we expressed how unhappy we were that our dog couldn't breath and was suffering, the vet said "your dog is NOT dying, she's in distress just like you!" We knew better (and so did our regular vet) and we followed through with our plan to euthanize. They were all about the money, and not one person in that building consoled us or even opened the door on our way out! EXTREMELY RUDE & ZERO COMPASSION FOR OUR DOG OR US!!!

? perfect emergency vet! My Australian shepherd fell out of the truck as I was getting out to get unloaded after he saw his favorite forklift driver that gives him a slimjim.....he broke his toe nail clear off, I got the bleeding to stop but it restarted as I drove. I got him here and was greeted right away, got top notch service and rev was back on the highway in less then 2 hours....it Strikes me odd on the bad reviews here as the 2 young ladies up front are working with not only me but many other guest, and for alot of people here that are leaving them bad reviews is amazing! The world didn't revolve just for 1 customer, I'd say there is maybe 12 if not more animals here at once, if they put you on hold or she walks away....dang she will come back! And as for price, maybe some of you may want to get a robotic dog or cat, cause to be shocked on price is another thing.....most of the medical machines inside this place is worth more then the cars we drive! If you think 500.00 to 4,000.00 is to much then don't have a live pet....I was in the hospital for 2 days and it was 27,000.00.....so does this mean I should leave the hospital a bad review????? Everyone that keeps Novi running please keep up the great service!

Our puppy Mila got into some known/unknown foreign objects on Labor Day evening and we had to take our little girl in for an emergency visit. The team was professional from our initial call to the moment we left with a healthy pup! We are so grateful for your staff and for saving our Mila! THANK-YOU, AEC Novi!
