Lobby is very nice. Nice selections for breakfast. My room was in need of an update, but still a decent room. Thankfully it was pretty quiet.Rooms: They are in the process of renovating. I did not have a new room. I was not bad but it definitely needs some updating. When I shut the door stuff fell off the ceiling into the tub.

This wasn't what I expected from a Hampton Inn. The rooms were much smaller than normal and really narrow (only 2 feet between the end of the bed and the dresser), no closet to hang my dress for a wedding, a very small bathroom counter, and multiple maintenance and mechanical issues.Rooms: We had multiple rooms and one person changed rooms due to a mechanical hum from the bathroom ventilation system, then the following happened with the new room. The room heater would alternate between heat and blasting cold air, there was no shower gel, and as the final straw, the battery for the door lock depleted and the staff had to put a charger on the door lock so she could get into her room. She couldn't leave the room the rest of the evening because the door wouldn't unlock again. In our room, I found a toenail on the bathroom floor when we arrived and the grimiest wall switch I have seen in years. So even though the room had been updated, no one looked at the little things. Aside from the mechanical issues, I was disappointed with other aspects of the rooms. They were very narrow and it was hard to walk past the bed because the distance between the bed and the dresser was only 2 feet. There was no closet in the room, only an Ikea like cabinet. The hanging bar was low and only a suit for dress shirt would fit. My dress and coat didn't fit. In addition, there was no full length mirror.

Under construction but they tell you in the booking part when you book through the app. The pool was closed. I didn’t like the small rooms, the smell of 420 throughout the whole hotel. Not much outdoor seating.

Though there were renovations going on, our room was fairly quiet, and very clean! I would highly recommend.

The hotel is under construction. We have stayed there twice this fall. The first time the room and hallways were filthy. As though they stopped cleaning while under renovation. Last weekend we stayed in a "renovated" room. There were no blinds on the windows, no hot water and the Wi-Fi didn't work. We have stayed here many times over the past few years (great staff and usually clean) but would definitely not recommend now. We talked to the General Manager who gave excuses but no solutions.

Worst experience! The carpet was soaking wet from a broken A/C unit and the pool has been closed since June but they advertised with pool amenities!! The told us to go find a room at a different hotel if we didn’t like their choices!

Under renovation in August 2023. Workers going at it until after 8 each night with no noticeable progress, and a lot of mess. Open areas of the hotel affected the effectiveness of the AC could not get the rooms below 72 even when set to 59 on the 3rd or fourth floor lobby was typically 75+ often cooler outside. Water pressure was low, no curtains was a bit annoying. Will not be back while renovations are underway. Breakfast was below Hilton standard overcooked eggs potatoes were awful. Rotten hardboiled egg. Pillows were uncomfortable and had the feel of 10 years old mush no firmness.

Upon check-in, we learned that the pool is closed, and despite the sign saying that it is closed for a few days, it turns out that the pool has been closed for as long as any of the employees could remember. The website for the hotel mentions that there is renovation construction going on, but makes no mention of the pool closure and still lists an outdoor pool among its amenities. This is infuriating. The ONLY reason that we stayed here was for the pool. Now, instead we're stuck in a dinky hotel room with a literal hammer drill going all day in the room next door. Rather than relaxing by the pool enjoying a pizza, I now have to either go out on a busy Friday night and battle the crowds with my husband and autistic son (and also spend a considerable amount more on our meal than we had planned), or sit in bed eating pizza and watching TV, and then repeat this on Saturday. Neither of these options seem like an especially appealing way to spend my BIRTHDAY weekend.Because I booked my room through Priceline, I was told that the best compensation that I can expect is a discount for a future stay, though I can't imagine that I would stay again.Despite all of this, the staff was very friendly, and the room, though rather small, was clean.UPDATE 8/27/23Though the hotel responded quickly to this review, I have heard NOTHING back after contacting them via their website as they suggested. My one star review stands.

Overall pretty good location. Room was clean. Basic complementary breakfast but better than nothing which seems to be norm nowadays. The hotel was under construction.

We're retired & travel all over the country and have become fans of Hampton Inns for their decent breakfast and consistent cleanliness. Typically we look for a Hampton Inn wherever we land. As "Diamond" level members in Hilton's rewards program, we enjoy a few perks like front door parking and a bag of goodies at check in. Five months prior to a trip to our yearly trip to Livonia Michigan's Highland Games (Aug. 4 & 5, 2023) we booked a room with two queen beds at the North Ville Hampton Inn. This Hampton also has a pool, necessary when traveling with our 8 year old granddaughter. We booked our room through the hotel website and got an immediate confirmation. This Hampton Inn is one of two hotels RECOMMENDED by the Detroit Scottish Society for out of town visitors & participants to the games. After a 4 hour drive, we arrived at our room & found not the two queen beds we'd reserved, but a king bed & a small sofa bed. We return to the front desk where the same clerk informs us:1) there are no rooms available to exchange and 2) "the computer automatically assigns another room." In a nutshell, at some point our 2 queen bed room became "unavailable". We were never given an explanation of WHEN or WHY our reserved room became unavailable, and that when a room becomes unavailable, Hampton's computer is programmed to automatically assign a DIFFERENT type of room without notification or explanation to the customer. We had our 8 year old granddaughter with us & she asked the clerk where the pool was located, to which the clerk responded, " the pool is not open."While we were at the front desk. another guest approached the desk and complained about the very same switch. He was an adult male who had booked a room with 2 queen beds to share with another adult male, and he emphasized, "we are NOT a "couple". He was understandably angry, but there weren't any 2 queen bed rooms for him either. About a week ahead of our trip, Hampton sent a standard email CONFIRMING our room for TWO QUEEN BEDS. That email also notified that the hotel was experiencing construction. No details about the kind of construction or that our room had been or might be changed and nothing about the pool being closed. My husband asked to speak with a supervisor, to which the clerk replied. "The manager will be here in the morning." Since when does a big chain hotel not have a night manager? We searched other Livonia hotels, but there weren't any 2 Queen rooms available anywhere, so we stayed put. During our stay, we found the ground level pool and saw that it was was filled with water, but covered with a tarp. We also noted that the windows of the rooms on the four floors above the pool were covered in plastic. It was clear half the hotel was under construction and out of commission. Was this construction actually a planned remodeling & something guests should've been informed of when they booked, and not upon arrival? The computer hadn't gone awol, it was programmed by someone, and that someone had programmed it to perform a room switch without informing customers with reservations so they didn't lose out on the big money the games brought in.It' reminds me of a crime called "bait & switch". It is both disgusting and possibly illegal for a hotel to do this and unfair to the customers spending their hard earned money to stay here. What's the point of reserving a specific type of room that the hotel can switch without notifying the reserving guest?? Finally, it's highly disrespectful to the Detroit Scots whose Highland Games event brings in a big crowd and business for them & who recommended the Hampton in good faith. I do intend to contact Hampton corporate on this matter.

Old hotel; uncomfortable bed; no slippers at all; same moldy smell in the room even if we were arranged another one; windows all locked so no way for odors going out; below standard breakfast; the location was also not that good if you were a tourist.

Location and rooms looks dated. However, construction is going on to update outside. Breakfast was fine, typical for Hampton.

This hotel isn't the grandest the rooms are small and dated. The hotel itself very dated I get it there going through renovation at the moment, but I'm sorry this place is not great.
