I went to two other pharmacies who told me it was illegal for them to fill because it was a controlled medication. In fact, that is a lie. They made me feel almost criminal. I am a 72 year old retired executive, but they showed neither compassion nor care. I called HomeTown Pharmacy on Whitehall Rd in N Muskegon. They were a God send in my time of need and filled my prescription without hesitation. In fact they had done it so quickly I couldn't believe the level of service I was provided. I'm in the process of moving to Muskegon to be closer to my son. HomeTown Pharmacy will become my regular pharmacy when I move.”
“Over the years, my husband and I have used multiple pharmacies in Muskegon. We used Walgreen's at Henry and Sherman for a long time. Then, after we moved closer to the one on Apple, we used that one. We really liked them, but they ended their contract with our insurance or some such thing, so we had to change.
We started out with the pharmacy at Walmart on Sherman. Well, they were clueless (I could say worse, but I'm a lady ?), so we switched to CVS on Apple. They were just okay, but nothing happened that would cause us to switch, and they were close to home, so we stayed with them. That is, until one time, when they were out of one one of my regular medications.
As it turned out, several pharmacies around town were out of it. Eventually, I contacted Rite Aid in North Muskegon. They didn't have it either, but they bent over backward to find a solution for me. That goes a long way in our book, so even though they are out of our way and we have several pharmacies that are closer to us, we switched to Rite Aid.
It was well over 5 years when that happened, and we haven't regretted our decision once! The employees know us by sight, even some who don't work in the pharmacy area, and they're all always very friendly, yet professional. It's almost like the small, hometown pharmacies from days gone by, and we plan to remain with them as long as it's within our power to do so!
UPDATE: Well, it's no longer within our power to stay with Rite Aid. They up and went out of business without even telling us. ? A week ago Friday, I got an antibiotic from there for a tooth infection. Monday, after calling our doctor's office to request refills of our regular prescriptions, they called back to say Rite Aid is closed!
When I asked if it was temporary closure or a permanent one, I was told that it's permanent! I was shocked, to say the least.
So, a little while ago, I called Rite Aid's number, just to double check (I guess I am in denial ?). I got a recording saying, "Thank you for calling Walgreen's!" Looks like we'll be going back to Walgreen's (yes, I called to verify that they are taking our insurance again).
We'll miss you, Rite Aid!”

1771 Holton Rd, North Muskegon“I read several poor reviews. I am a senior who had a special request for an order, my experience was good. Spoke with a manager to make a special order who did so in a timely manor. That manager even told me about the discount on the first Tuesday of the month. I was called the Monday prior, that my order was ready. My personal experience at this location was very pleasant. All of the staff I spoke with that day was very nice and helpful.”
“I had a huge ordeal with my son’s insurance today. Justin was such a help! He went above and beyond. He made sure things were taken care of. He fixed the issue! He was patient with me as I had to make multiple phone calls to the insurance companies. I’ll sign a petition to get Justin a raise!”
“This is hands down the best Meijer in our town. Freshest produce, full shelves and the greatest customer service. Shout out to the guys in the meat dept. for being extra kind to me on Mother's Day. It is noticed!”
