Very quaint, excellent service from the owner when we had to call for a broken carbon monoxide alarm. We loved having the option of a full kitchen that included utensils/pots and pans/dishes. Full sized appliances were great, including fridge, washer/dryer, stove. Cold AC, warm heat. Great water pressure on the faucets and shower. The sitting area on the enclosed front porch was very private and comfortable. The tan house has the bedrooms up stairs, but room in the laundry area to set up a queen sized air mattress if needed for accessibility. Comfortable beds. I'd happily stay again, we loved being right on the water and sitting in the chairs that were already set up.
Rooms: 2 queens and a full. First queen was really nicely sized, second queen was okay but a little on the smaller side, and the full room was probably large enough for a single kid but not an adult with full sized luggage.
Safety: 2 smoke alarms and a carbon monoxide alarm
Food & drinks: Has snacks available for purchase at the check in desk, breakfast leaves something to be desired (but it is free).
Noteworthy details: All 3 bedrooms of the tan Bay house are up some slightly steep stairs.

Hardest bed and tiniest bedroom and bathroom I've ever seen! My husband and I both awoke with sore hips and backs. Neither of us slept well the 2 nights we stayed. The bathroom would not accommodate anyone who is of larger stature as I am thin and could barely maneuver in the tiny bedroom and bathroom. That being said, the location is wonderful, close to downtown Munising and all its ameneties. It's also close to many falls and the Pictured Rocks Cruise company. The views from this motel are beautiful as every room has a waterfront view. The room has a small kitchenette and eating area which is nice, but the chairs are very uncomfortable, as are all the outdoor chairs. Needs some updating and new mattresses. (Dining options in Munising in October leave something to be desired)

Good setting and good price. Extremely outdated and almost run down. Seems like a family ran place that just quit caring about their place.

This is a great old fashioned motel! The rooms are clean, and uniquely designed. We had a great view of Lake Superior from our window, and the lawn had lovely lawn chairs for sitting/viewing the lake. Our room included a frig, microwave, and coffee maker. My Mom is a wheelchair, and the handicapped rooms were booked, so we had a regular room. It was a tight squeeze with the transport chair. A regular wheelchair would not have fit.The lady helping me book the rooms was a true gem. She did everything possible to make sure the room would work. We were treated very respectfully and cheerfully upon check-in.Checking out Sunday morning was less friendly. Kinda ended the weekend stay on a sour note ?

Any price too much no matter what the view. Poorly maintained steps and decking, unlit at night!!, bathroom no fan, mini air cond in bedroom only, filthy coffee pot, no dish towel or dish cloths, breakfast options poor...sad for price.Safety: Unlit steps I almost slipped down, when I mentioned response was",well it's been that way since the 50s". I saw broken lights on stairs that appear to have broken for a long tome.

10++++++ location , the room was extremely clean. No frills, but you don't need them with the view and location! The lady at the desk was so helpful and friendly.Highly recommend unless you're wanting all the frills.

Absolute beautiful place. We loved Sherri who worked the front desk. Rooms and service are beyond the 5 stars! This will hopefully be the only place we stay from now on.Rooms: The rooms are super clean and beyond what I was expecting to get.Nearby activities: So many activities to do within minutes from the motel.Food & drinks: Great food all close by.

Great view but disappointing accommodations. A hotel/motel in Maquette 35 minutes away is s much better option. Room was dated early 1970's era, bathtub was scary (I skipped a shower), comforter was dirty (had to remove from bed) and the entire room smelled musty (had to buy air freshener spray and scented candles). Over priced and not worth the stay. Sorry Sunset Motel, it is what it is.

The motel was a big disappointment. While the view was fantastic, the room was not clean. There was mold and peeling paint in the bathroom. The bottom of the tub was filthy and there was a clear ring around the toilet bowl. I question whether the room was cleaned at all prior to our arrival. For the price paid, the room should have been tidy. We complained during check-out, but there was no response other than a note taken down on a post-it.

This was not an inexpensive motel but the location warranted it. We stayed over Independence Day and the fireworks were right in front of us and Munising didn't disappoint.
