I went here for all my oil changes, etc. from 1999-2010. Excellent and economical services *every single time*!
Then I changed jobs, wasn't in the neighborhood all the time, and stopped going there. Today, I went back there for an oil change and "Joe", or Mr. "Bass", was still managing the shop, hustling/working hard, and making certain his bright attitude shined on his customers...
I live about 15 minutes away, and inside I was kicking myself for not continuing to patronize his shop. Definately worth the short drive, I was thinking, or making it a thing when I'm in the 16/Harper area. So I'll continue going there, and encourage you to do the same...
Guess that's why I decided to write a mini-novel about an oil change shop. But hopefully, it'll convince at least one person to give it a try!

I ended up buying a new car last year and this was my second oil change. I couldn’t get a chance to get it to the dealership for their services and I didn’t want to wait a day for it to get done or however long it was for me. I ended up going to Uncle Ed’s for my oil change. Automatically, I was greeted and pulled in immediately to get everything started.
Terrance(the manager) was so chill and so nice and we had good conversation and laid everything out and how much it’ll be. There was a deal for a oil cleaner and a gas cleanser going on and I automatically said yes(new car, had fuel injectors cleaned on this thing once before..never want it to happen again.) so I figured I’d do it. Destiny, the other tech is so sweet and she and Terrance did everything for me.
I needed my cabin air filter and my normal air filter replaced. I thought my car was gonna be an easy “pop out glove compartment, maybe a few screws” situation but NOPE. They basically had to pull everything apart to get to it. Mind you, it’s hot af outside and everyone’s sweating and it’s a god awful humid day out, both of them fought with everything for a good minute to get everything to access my cabin air filter. I kept apologizing because I didn’t realize how much work it truly was, and they were so understanding and kept telling me it’s okay.
Destiny and Terrance, if you see this you have no idea how much I appreciate you guys. Thank you for being so sweet and understanding towards me, and thank you Destiny for fixing me back up again. You guys were struggling and you kept fighting. The dealership I went to was a little bit cheaper in the oil change price, but they lost my business. I will be coming here from now on to get everything they can do done. They’re honest and wonderful individuals, and I will gladly pay a little bit more because of what they did for me today.”

Truck broke down and had to choose a local repair shop. Found Big Jim’s was less than a mile away. I called to see if they could accommodate me. They referred me to a tow company who pulled me in. They called the next morning to inform me my truck was on the lift and how much the repair would be. Everything was put back together by the end of the day. They even fixed a couple bulbs that were popped. I was happy I was able to find an honest American owned company when this unplanned emergency came up. Losing a work truck for any amount of time can be a huge set back! Thanks, Jim and staff for the quick turn around.”

“I do most of my own mechanical work, but this place makes having your oil changed so convenient that I just don't do it myself.
While you get you filter/oil changed they check out the air filter, tire pressure, wipers, trans fluid, and top up your washer solvent. They're even nice to my dog (who just loves riding in the truck).
They do a great job at such a reasonable price, it just doesn't make sense to get your hands, garage floor, or your driveway dirty.”

“I was driving around trying to find a open place to get an oil change, this place was supposed to open at 8, he opened a little later. I pulled up around 8:25 and as I was about to pull off, they were pulling in. I thought that the oil change was a little pricey however the service overall was done in a professional way. I was shown a large damaged screw from a previous oil change somewhere else and since he had one he replaced it for free. The little things matter to me especially when it comes to service. I was in and out in no time.”
