Bought an Interstate battery there this past month and it is fantastic! They have a massive parts store and the technicians and people who work there are SUPER nice! Going to take my little car there for repairs in the future for sure!

My situation was a bit of an emergency. They were able to get me in early the day after I called them. Fast, courteous, and well-humored, the staff at Higher Standards Automotive were sure to keep me in the loop about what was happening with my car, any news about price changes as it got fixed, and were sure to inform me about other issues my car was facing while educating me about how to overcome them. After a few hours, I had my car back, and I was safe to be on the road again. (Thank you, Rayman!)

Called to get a quote for a battery. The young girl who picked up was too busy giggling with co-workers to hear anything I said. Then put me on hold, to then take me off hold just to ask if I would be the one supplying a battery...
Professionalism goes a long way. I didn't recieve any.

I've been to HSA a few times over the years and I use to think they were a fine shop, but the last couple experiences for me have not been good. A couple years back, when I had them install a new fuel pump in my pickup, the tech tried to tell me my fuel gauge needed to also be replaced (it worked when I brought it there.) They did end up fixing the issue (because it was not working due to improper fuel pump installation,) but the tech didn't even admit he was wrong or apologize for trying to have me start a service order on something that wasn't broken. When I tried to talk to the owner about the situation, he wouldn't talk to me.
Fast forward to a week ago, I decided to give them another chance because they're close to home and I took my car there with a broken exhaust pipe. They charged me $75 for diagnostics, which I thought was a lot considering I knew exactly what was wrong--it was clear as day, my exhaust pipe was broken! Then, the estimate they gave me to fix the exhaust was $2500! I decided to take it elsewhere which gave me a free estimate, and fixed it for $300 within about 45 minutes.

The issue with my car was there was too much air and not enough fuel getting to the engine, causing engine misfires, gas consumption and a hard idle. Something to know is that before going to Higher Standards, I took my car to another mechanic (who I will not name). The other mechanic I started with would replace a car component, my car would run fine for a week and then the issues would return. Wash, rinse, repeat for 2 MONTHS at this place. It drove me nuts. I went to Higher Standards due to a lack of confidence in the place I was going to and to get a fresh pair of eyes to look at my car. I felt welcomed from the first initial call asking to bring my car in. When you're a woman going to the mechanic's alone, you can feel like you're being talked down to or being scammed but I never felt that at Higher Standards. It was great to know they took my car on a test drive. Thankfully my car did misfire and they were able to see what I was actually talking about. All within a single day they tested my car, figured out what was wrong and replaced the part needed, all at what I thought was a pretty reasonable price. Now, its been 3 weeks since and I've had no issues! Its the longest stretch of time I've gone with my car not acting up on me. It's taken some time to feel confident in my car again but I'm slowly learning to trust my car again. I was very impressed by Higher Standards work. Speedy and confident in what they were doing.
