“A Small Shop with a Big Heart

Our family does not own a car, and it costs us nearly $30 round trip to go to Merts Meat. It might seem like a trivial amount to some, but I am being honest. Going twice a week means $60, which is a significant amount for us.

Still, we have been customers of this butcher shop for eight years. We were supported by a kind delivery man who always brought our orders (he even gave us small flags on the 4th of July). During the COVID-19 pandemic, when we couldn't get anything from the supermarkets and were really struggling, the delicious meat from this butcher shop truly saved our family, and we are immensely grateful.

Thanks to him, my wife discovered the joy of cooking various dishes using Merts' fresh meat, a wide variety of seasonings, and delicious vegetables. Our dining table often became a place of rich and happy meals.

Today, when I tried to place an order, I was informed that they no longer do deliveries. The reason is that the delivery man fell ill and passed away, and there is no one to replace him.
We had our orders delivered by him even about ten days before he passed away. Before that, he had just been discharged from the hospital. Merts'meat kindly contacted us when he passed away, and their thoughtful handling made us realize that Merts Meat is a company that truly values its employees.At the time, they mentioned that they wanted to continue deliveries, but after I hung up the phone today, I had a thought.
Perhaps, we were the only family requesting deliveries.
Maybe, after the pandemic ended, they didn't have to continue the delivery service, but they kept delivering to us out of kindness.
If that was the case, I want to express my gratitude through this review.

We might only be able to visit every three to six months from now on, but Merts Meat will always remain one of our favorite shops.
And someday, if deliveries resume, I would like to be the one handing out flags on the 4th of July.
