My favorite gym in the area, the only reason I've ever stopped my membership is because of relocation. I moved back to the area and rejoined right away!

The facility is well kept and incredibly clean however the owner is rather rude especially if your membership is through a gym pass program. Friends who are outright members have had a way better experience than those through the franchise required participation in the gympass programs. With the program I have, the memberships are to remain active as long as I pay my monthly fee. They deactivated mine and then wouldn’t reactivate until I came in as guest 8 times in a month during staffed hours to prove I would use the membership.

Been going here for almost two years now (started at the Troy location, but prefer the Madison heights location) and it’s the best gym I’ve ever been a member of. I’ve been into fitness for 7 years and out of all the gyms I’ve tried this powerhouse location is by far my favorite. I’ve been a member at planet fitness, crunch fitness, anytime fitness, LA fitness, lifetime fitness, tried the edge, had memberships at college and at high school gyms. Heck I’ve even been to the powerhouse in East lansing and I don’t recall it giving nearly the same vibes as this gym. I’ve been to big gyms, fancy gyms, and immaculate gyms but none of them beat this gym. By no means is it a big location and it does get busy like every gym does but I always find a way to finish my workout on time. I never find that it’s too busy that I frequently can’t get a machine. The people here are insanely friendly. Frank (the owner, I believe) is incredibly kind and friendly to me every time I walk in the door. I can’t recommend this gym enough!!! When I move eventually I will be very sad to leave. This gym has become a second home to me.

the owner frank would F your mom in front of you for an extra $5, all he cares about is money and nothing else, he’s extremely rude and also this isn’t like other powerhouse gyms you literally can’t make any noise here when doing your workouts, forget about deadlifting squatting benching if you wanna come here. go somewhere else for a better deal, you will regret signing up here, avoid his brothers location in troy as well, it’s just as bad.

I am a member of the Blue Cross program where I pay $30 a month to them and they pay for me to go to any Power House, Crunch, or Anytime of my choosing. Crunch, Anytime and any other Power House has allowed me to sign up for a membership and come and go whenever I’d like. When I signed up for this Power House, I felt like I was back in elementary school going over each of the rules with Mari. Which, I was fine with. I understand everyone has their rules and regulations. Then, I thought I would try and come back a couple of weeks ago and my card wasn’t working. Mari greeted me at the door and looked up my membership and said that I was one of their “silver sneakers” members and that the gym has been losing money on my membership by me not coming on a regular basis, which I know isn’t true because none of the other gyms all over the United States have never mentioned such a thing to me. Then, the manager or owner (can’t remember his name) came over and advised he would handle it. Mari told me I had to go to THAT gym for at LEAST ten times a month or they would shut my membership off again. I was NEVER told this was a stipulation of me having a membership here and was very embarrassed and won’t be back. I did workout that day and felt watched by her and very intimidated because of the situation.Do yourself a favor and go to any other gym but this one if you don’t want to be humiliated, babysat, and harassed over rules that you were never advised of.

I left this gym towards the end of 2023. My time at this gym was great, however the cancellation process left a sour taste in my mouth and therefore the overall experience gets a 1 star. Such a shame, but I don't and will never support shady business practices. To anyone looking to join this gym, be careful if you ever need to cancel. The contract you sign upon joining the gym states that you need to give 30 days notice, which is typical of most gyms and was not the problem. What the business owner does not tell you is that you need to give 30 days notice prior to your final payment (you pay first & last month of dues upon signing). Therefore, when you cancel you have two months left to use the gym. As I was relocating, I no longer had any need to use the gym for an additional two months. Additionally, the business owner failed to inform me that I had an additional month left to use. I think he does this knowing most people forget that you have paid first and last month's dues upon joining. Just really shady. At the end of the day, the cost of the one extra month to not use the gym was not that big of a deal to me, it was more just the principle behind this that really made me angry. The owner is really trying to get every dime out of you and I will never understand why doing this is worth it to him. Maybe he has gotten away with it and most people don't realize this upon cancellation. It really is such a shame because I honestly really liked this gym, but will never support shady business practices. When I come back to visit, I will be looking for day passes elsewhere.

Attended today for a day pass. Frank, the owner, said sign the waiver and read the rules. So I did and said I was all set...he said no, you didn't read the rules and proceeded to read them off to me. Then he would come to the area where I was working out every 5-10 minutes to make sure I was following the rules... specifically no gym bags or sweatshirts on the equipment. 0/10 will never come here again.

This is a great gym. Big enough where you have all the amenities you would need but small enough that people’s faces become familiar if you go regularly. The owner is amazing and takes pride in his gym. It is always clean and the staff is friendly. If I work late I feel comfortable coming alone at night if I so choose. The entrance is well lit and there are cameras around the gym giving me an added sense of security. They have new saunas in the locker rooms that my husband and I love! 10/10Would recommend joining this location.

My wife and I just went tonight to Powerhouse to register for new memberships through an insurance program. Frank was quick to greet us at the door and get us all set up with our memberships! He clearly explained all the rules and made sure we knew how to open the doors beyond staff hours. Frank is passionate about his business and it shows through the care he delivers to people he's never even met before.

The owner is very rude and unprofessionalI went there and asked him to get month to month membership, Frank told me that i have to pay in front first month and last month plus $100 down payment, I asked him a simple question, if possible to wave the $100, He just throwback my ID and said have a nice day! He was could answer my question nicely way.

If your max bench is 135, squat is 225, and deadlift is 225 this is the gym for you! Just make sure you don’t make any noise at all strictly silent gym! Not the place for serious lifters which is unfortunately cause all other Powerhouse gyms I’ve been to have been great. The staff is nice but the rules of this gym are akin to a Planet fitness. I took my knee sleeves off after squatting and moved to another machine, staff told me things weren’t allowed on the ground and that I needed to put them in the locker zzz. Anyways good staff but this is an expensive planet fitness don’t recommend.
