I Love Camp Living Waters. It was my favorite place to go when growing up. I had to pay my own way, so I saved my money all year and I'd try to go for as many weeks as I could. All my children went to camp there too, and they all took friends. And they all loved it too.My favorite memories were singing crazy songs in the dining hall at lunch. Titanic was my all time favorite. And the "counselor/food call battles...We want Moose Meat for Ellen Anderson, a TIC nicknamed Moose, We want Duck Soup for counselor Diane "Ducky" Drake, and We want Cherry Pie for Eric Cherry. (I don't remember what he was. I knew him as another camper. He might have been on work crew a different week. I enjoyed many of the games. The Paul Revere (kill the peanut butter sandwich) race was so much fun. (make a sandwich, someone stuffed it in their shirt while they ran, someone else had to swim, then bury it, then dig it up, climb a tree and leave it up there, then someone else had to bring it down, and so on...until the last person had to eat it and whistle Dixie.I learned to play soccer there, and to shoot a rifle. I even out shot the boys one week. We could never find Lost Lake, except for the summer I took Bird Watching and we got lost, but we found Lost Lake. And everyone learned to play Mancala in the lodge.I had some fabulous counselors. Papa TIC (Bob Kahley) was fabulous, and Linda Kahley was the head life guard. She'd call us out for "Morning Dippers" every morning before everyone else and we'd go dip in the lake. My dipping was a bit more. I was a swimmer, and we dove into the pool at 5am during season. So I always just went off the end of the dock...that dipping thing was ppttttt. I was given the Polar Bear Award.I made many many friends over the years. Wrote lots and lots of letters over the years. Back they we had to do it long hand via the post office. I still have many of those letters. And I accepted Christ at CLW. Along with all the fun and craziness and running around the woods, there is God and his teachings. You learned to go off and just be quiet and alone and with God. We did that every day. You read his word, you talk to him, you prey, your own way. Sure there was cabin devotions, and there was chapel time every night. I don't know why but quiet time was just my thing. Getting away from all the noise, and it just being me and God.There were alot of us from Eden UB that trecked up to CLW each summer, and then in winter for Winter Retreat. It was my favorite place on earth. I highly recommend going for a week or 3. Going to any of the retreats. Send your kids, and their friends. There is nothing else like it!Linda (Kerr) Hicok
