Absolutely terrible experience with almost no resolution.Prepaid 1-Month for a vehicle to drive my family down to Florida from Michigan. The 1st time the vehicle broke down was 15 minutes after picking it up... Drove it home(8min away) to start packing up, shut it off, opened the rear hatch door and went inside for the first load, promptly returning with said luggage. I realized we had a TON of space(they upgraded us to a extended SUV, we were very excited) and ecstatically ran to get my golfclubs. Returning quickly I loaded the clubs and realized it was freezing out(10 °f) so I went to start the vehicle to help keep me warm..... the rest of this story is very different than the gleeful one above. The vehicle would not start, it would flick on and then slam the brake pedal back out at your foot, the system would then reboot but began flashing every emergency alarm ot could; Emergency Brake System Failure, Airbag System Disabled, Transmission Failure, Ect.I purchased the insurance, so I wasn't that worried about the issue, I rent with Enterprise for work all the time and have never had an issue with getting a replacement vehicle if necessary.I was a bit worried about time, we have a 6 month old whom we were hoping would be going to bed just as we left for our drive though the night.I call the rental location I got the vehicle from, explained the situation, but was repeatedly just told back that "the vehicle is brand new, there shouldn't be any issues". After hearing it a few times I asked what can be done because there WAS an issue. I was placed on hold for 5 minutes, the employee returned but asked me to wait again, 5 minutes later they return and said "you're gonna have to call roadside, the number is on the keys" and hung up.So i call roadside. After the 10 minute charade of entering all the same rental information multiple times and confirming accuracy with robots, I'm speaking with a representative. I explain the situation and the immediately start telling me to confirm it will be $150 to have someone come out for a jumpstart... I explain I paid for the insurance and that we are not sure if it is a battery issue, they say to take up the costs with the rental location we got the vehicle from, not knowing if there will be a cost I say I will call back. I call the origional rental place who assured me there would be no cost for roadside, and now suggest having the vehicle towed to the nearest main Avis hub(50min away) since we're not sure if it's a battery issue. I unhappily agree to this solution. Call roadside, 10min robots confirming info and holding and we get the tow truck scheduled, we've reached the ideal time we planned on leaving for our 20hr drive, unfortunately nowhere near ready.1hr 20 minutes later the tow truck arrives. They check out the vehicle and say "Everything is good, just a dead battery, was probably sitting awhile at the rental lot and in the cold the battery can drain". Amazing news!! They jump start the car and I leave it running, load us up and we're out the door, 2.5 hrs late but all is good.5.5hrs later, outside Lexington 2:30am, she wakes up. I pull into a gas station, shut the vehicle off and fill up the gas tank. I went inside to use the restroom and get coffee. Returning, at most, 10 minutes later I get in the vehicle to move it up by the door for my wife to go inside, the vehicle doesn't start. Again with the system reboot and warning signs... ok battery. I flag down another gas station patron for a jump who helps me out while me wife uses the restroom.Alright... vehicles running, 2:30am so the rental return hoop jumping doesn't seem wise with a fully loaded vehicle and a now again sleeping baby... and off we went, never turning the vehicle off until we reached our destination in Florida late that evening... we made it.Somehow, it started the next morning but broke down again after going out for lunch.Got a replacement vehicle that reeked of smoke, and was much smaller...golfclubs didn't fit, and a suitca

I had a reservation for a 5 seater vehicle to be rented for 11/5/23 @ 12 30pm... I arrived to pick up the vehicle and was advised by the clerk Hiba at the counter, that there wasn't a vehicle available in that size and I would have to rent the next size with a price increase. I advised that when I booked the vehicle, it reserved and confirmed my reservation. She advised that it was booked under 24hrs so it's not a guarantee. I asked her to show me that policy, she refused. I advised that it reserved and if the vehicle isn't available then I get the vehicle at the price it was reserved and confirmed at. She refused and told me I can go to another location. I asked for policy information to be shown to the customer, she refused again and told me she has other things to do and book at the rate that she's offering, or go to another one..I mean how rude. I've booked a car every week with you all for over a month as well as refered several other co workers to this location. Is this normal practice at your location for employees to act and speak in this manner to a customer??? If a customer ask to be shown a policy in writting or on the site, is it OK to refuse the customer this information???? I would really like a response so I can be sure to let others know this is your practice at your location, refusal to customers for company policy information, or any other infirmation that a customer is asking for that an employee is saying is a policy.. I asked for a manager, she said she was the manager, so I figured the qualifications for that management position comes with being rude... Are these standard practices and attitudes at this location??Sent from Yahoo Mail on Android

Horrible. Poor service, filthy vehicle, change oil light stayed on, tire pressure warnings. Tires at 28, 24, 27, 21 psi. I corrected them all at service stations - at my expense. Never again

1st I want to be clear I've rented from this Avis before and I'd recommend going here over the airport any day. However, my issue is Avis. They encourage you to Prepay to lock in rate and vehicle which I did. Yet, had something come up returned a day early and I mentioned this at the location I was told to contact Avis. Next day I did and guess what Avis has a no refund policy. So I'm never pre-paying again. I was told by rep on phone they have a "No Refund" policy. So you prepay. Something can happen and you just out that charge.

It was a bit meh this time but I've experienced better before. The vehicle (Chevy Equinox) was the smallest of the group of Standard SUV's and the trim was a bit on the barebones side compared to prior rentals. Not horrible, just not wowed this time is all.

This place is awesome and the two agents are both professional and pleasant. I will only rent my vehicle this Avis. You won't be disappointed if you stop by Avis in Livonia Mi

Absolutely never again. When we arrived to pick up our car we were told that they gave away our car, gave us no option for a vehicle in the same price range as the one we reserved which forced us into an upgrade and after reading other reviews that seems like quite the trend. We were driving cross country with the car and halfway through we realized that the car needed an oil change, checked the oil ourselves to only see a dry dipstick, we then bought oil and now they are giving us a hard time on reimbursement for it. The car had a serious alignment problem and needed new windshield wipers considering the amount of money spent you’d expect to have a well maintained reliable vehicle but that is not what you get at all. customer service sucks no matter who you’re dealing with at avis, it seems like no one understood their “company policies” as if you have a problem you will get 20 different answers between each location and their 800 number. you have better luck going through a different rental company as the problems you will encounter here aren’t even worth it.

Don’t go here! I was hit with a surprise cleaning fee, ($450), that was nearly 50% of the total rental price. There was some sand on the floor from when we were at the dunes and beach, nothing else. This was after I bought an insurance policy where I was told it covered everything bumper to bumper and I would have no additional concerns. The vehicle was in the same shape, (see picture), as when I picked it up! Very disappointing business practices!

I would give 5 stars, but I had to clean the inside windows myself and the floor needed a vacuum. Outside of that, the vehicle was better than expected. The rate was very reasonable for the number of days I needed. Checkout/checkin was a breeze! I sent someone there to rent, as soon as I returned, for their needs and they had the same experience.

HORRIBLE!!! I couldn’t make the review without choosing a star that’s why I chose one… my daughter made a reservation 2 days ago . We arrive the car is not available. She says you must upgrade but pay for the upgrade .. you can’t use your credit card because the machine wouldn’t accept the swipe.. I asked can’t you enter manually? Then I said it’s ok I will use mine.. she said if you use yours we can’t use your daughter discount . I said this is unacceptable . Do you have a manager she states she is the manager . She has on half tank top. Sweat pants and flip flops . Needless to say we left . I WILL not continue to support businesses that are not professional or honor what they originally offered . The owner need to be aware of what’s happening . .. please do better by your consumers ..

Horrible! I got a smaller car than I was expecting and the oil and windshield washer fluids were low when I got the car. I had to buy oil to add to the car. Avis needs to pay a little extra to have basic safety features like blind spot mirrors!
