I just got ripped off for over $5600 and MFCU will not reimburse me for my loss. They have told me that I gave out security information and there's nothing they can do. I DID NOT give out any security information for my account. YOUR MONEY IS NOT SAFE AT MICHIGAN FIRST CREDIT UNION.

I just closed my accounts from Michigan First Credit Union! I highly do not recommend banking with them. They’re not accommodating to their members and have piss poor customer service. This is highly disappointing because just like the comment before mines, I too was a member since high-school, well over 15 years and the customer service I’ve received over the passed 2-years has been harmful towards this organization’s reputation and has caused more stresses onto me than what was necessary. They continued to freeze my accounts without any update or warning. They did this for over a year, almost every month and every-time I call to speak with someone and ask why wasn’t I receiving a warning before deciding to cancel my cards they would always LIE and say that I opted-out of receiving calls and never would have record of my previous “recorded” conversations with the previous team members. After being late on my bills due to my accounts being frozen without knowledge, I had enough. I had a personal account, business account and an extra account for savings.Today let me know how little they valued a member of 15+ years. When I went to cancel I was never asked why, one the number one questions that should have been asked if you truly were customer service based. But based off the other numerous comments I’m confident I made the best choice.I would not recommend banking with them and I would suggest MFCU to hiring new team members and implement new strategies.Times are too fickle in this economy and unpredictable to bank with a bank/credit union that’s unethical with their members.

Sad to say this bank is bank is a only a shell of what it used to be, been a member for over 9 years and now it’s just a regular bank not the credit union that I joined in high school. Employees & customer service has fallen just not a good overall experience anymore. Closed my account and wouldn’t suggest you opening one if you’re looking for a customer focused credit union.

Worst bank ever they claim I made transactions that I did not make through apple. I only have a 10 dollar Apple Music subscription and my card was charged 70 in 5 different transactions in 1 week. They won’t dispute my money and they don’t protect your money and won’t give it back if something happens

Trying to be fair here, opening the business account was not an issue and was pleasant. But now we are 8 days later and I still don't have access to the money I deposited via checks. Because I'm a new business they are holding them 5 business days (not including sat or sunday) and now voting day. I have a fees and equipment/checks I need to purchase to get my business fully up and running. Already checked with my clients and their money is out of there accounts, just mfcu is just sitting on it? How is it in the digital age it takes 5 business days to verify a check?Just seems like they are stuck behind the times. Been with them for 11 years now (personal) and they always take the longest compared to others

Wouldn’t suggest this bank to anyone. The fees alone are absolutely ridiculous. This place only cares about bleeding you dry every chance they get.

As a longtime member of Michigan First Credit Union, it is with deep disappointment and frustration that I must express my dissatisfaction with the institution. Once regarded as a reliable and customer-centric credit union, Michigan First has devolved into a mere shell of its former self, demonstrating a lack of consideration and empathy towards its members. One of the most alarming aspects of my experience with Michigan First is the poor treatment I, along with many other long-time members, have received. The credit union seems to have lost sight of its mission to serve its members and prioritize their financial well-being. What was once a friendly and helpful staff has been replaced with an indifferent and unresponsive team that fails to address legitimate concerns and inquiries.Perhaps the most distressing issue is the credit union's negligence in handling poor charge procedures rom merchants. Despite repeated attempts to rectify the situation, Michigan First has allowed these merchants to repeatedly charge my account, essentially facilitating the theft of my hard-earned money by way of overdraft fees. The lack of security measures and the absence of adequate protection for members' funds are unacceptable and inexcusable for any financial institution. This is no slight to a few of the friendly and respectful members who tried the best to help me through the 365 customer service lines, I've mostly always had respectful and helpful feedback from then, they tried to help. But for those who made the decision as if it were justified, tried to appease by having me pay half the fees, mind you the merchant was out of line by repeatedly charging the account as much as 18+ times for the measly amount of $15 within the span of hours of a day, I didn't even know the source payment was set to Michigan First at the time of the original purchased and got no notification of any of this until I the time I checked my account and the fees reached to above $600+, instead of preventing the transactions to even allow that to happen. The only thing done for me was to settle for paying about half. In effort to make members feel like "well at least they did something" in turn revealed the truth of nasty business practices. It's the principle, from $15 to $300. Reducing it to 1 overdraft would've been fair. But instead, not caring to understand where their loyal longtime member was coming from they showed what bottomline truly mattered most, over a simple mistake. The Merchant is at fault too but you'd think your institution would protect you from things like this. Don't let your account be tied to anyone else's either, they will grab the money from theirs if they feel justified. As a result of these recurring issues and a notable decline in customer service, I am left with no choice but to advise against opening an account with Michigan First Credit Union. Entrusting your money with an institution that has lost its commitment to its members' best interests is a risky endeavor, and the potential financial harm and frustration far outweigh any perceived benefits.Michigan First Credit Union has significantly declined from its previous standing as a reputable financial institution. The poor treatment of loyal members, the failure to address harmful charges, make it impossible for me to recommend this credit union to anyone. For those seeking a secure and reliable banking experience, it would be wise to explore other alternatives and avoid the disappointment that comes with banking here.

I wish i could give 0 stars. No .1 they're mobil app you cant put decimals in for your checks so they make the deposit then months later they tell u via text the deposit didn't go through. I've banked with them for years and purchased a car they denied me. They said pay it down and come back. Mind you I had the same amount of bills 700 credit score and they denied me again. When I called to see about the checks they were not helpful but rude except the last person I talked to said they don't keep copies of deposit so there's nothing they can do unfortunately. This is bad banking and as soon as I can I'm moving my direct deposit. I would close but i have a credit card and its a huge part of my credit worthiness.

Michigan First Credit union is no longer an adequate financial institution. A year ago we had a representative threaten to cancel a pre-approval for a car loan because we wanted to read through the documents. I have attempted to travel with multiple inconveniences despite travel notices and communication that lead to additional costs and being stranded, no real help with needing a card replacement and today had a merchant say a purchase did not go through and after calling Michigan First to see if the card was declined for fraud they did not verify or catch this issue- the transaction posted and the representative made it clear they would again be little to no help. They also block howuch you can withdraw from a branch or access your liquidated funds. Do not risk your investments here. Find anywhere else to bank.

A merchant was supposed to send me a package which I NEVER RECEIVED so me thinking My Bank will have my back I wasn’t worried about it. All for me to go into the branch place a dispute then wait 10 business days !!! All for them to deny it!! Do better ! On top of no communication!!! They didn’t even say why it was denied. If it was more than 200 bucks I’d be livid !!! Definitely don’t recommend this bank they obviously don’t care for their clients that’s been taken advantage of from either the merchant or the neighborhood!

Happy to say I had a interview with MFCU and the staff was awesome during that time. The next day I received my offer letter was able to pick my schedule and was given a start date of June 5, 2023. Well on that Friday June 2,2023 I got a call from the recruiter (Aston Carter) telling me not to report to work, when I asked why she told me they did not tell her why. So I called and was able to speak to someone who let me know that I could not start work due to a felony on my record and that my application did not match. So I asked about the question on the application " HAVE YOU EVER BEEN CONVICTED OF A FELONY OR DID TIME BECAUSE OF A FELONY" and I answered NO because my charge was a misdemeanor so I did not lie. I did send out a email to HR, another staff member of MFCU, and Aston Carter,, no one ever responded to me just left me hanging not even a phone call to explain what was really wrong. I am a great person who has never been in trouble looking for a great job with a great friendly, family environment but I guess wasting my time was better.

I want to first start off by saying I have banked with Michigan First for a few years now and have had an okay experience. One of the reasons I decided to get with the account is because of my mom’s great experience with you all. Recently, I , who is in college, unfortunately was a victim of my account being wiped clean by a scammer. My mom and I immediately reached out to Michigan first to file a dispute against the charges that were made and filed a police report. The representatives at First were very understanding and said this should be taken care of with no issue. After a week of no update, we decided to call and they advised it was still processing. We waited an additional week and called again. This representative was extremely rude and told me that I should have known better, he showed no empathy and was rude the entire call. My mom asked the representative was there a data leak?? The scammer was able to spoof a phone call and act like a michigan first representative which indicates there is a confidentiality issue on the CU behalf. The representative continued to be snobby and unhelpful just to tell her the dispute denied! Im out of over $500 dollars and that includes my rent money and more. Then, the CU did nothing to help. I asked for manager, he advised that they was unavailable and will call us within 24 hours. This was on April 22nd, today is May 1st. Still nothing. l've extremely disappointed and will most likely be changing institutions as soon as possible. It's unfair to not take accountability of information being leaked which allows scammers to successfully steal.
