I have had my taxes completed by Margaret Schlaud in the past for years and was saddened to hear of her passing. She was excellent at what she did. Virgil stepped up for my appointment and didn't miss a beat. He was thorough and triple checked everything. Kudos to the H \u0026 R staff.

Overall terrible experience, not recommended. When I first walked into this place I had no clue what to do, I didn't even know if anyone was there. So I sat there for 15 minutes in silence wondering if I should leave and I should have. These people messed everything up. First they put my stimulus on my 2021 so the IRS took longer and I got less than I expected (I told them I already got it). They spelled my email wrong so I wouldn't get any email updates. For some reason on my 2020 the amount I'm getting back is more than I even made and nothing is showing up for my 2020 after a whole month, there's still no record of it!!! I'm going to have to call the IRS and see what else they messed up. Remind you, this is after I confirmed everything on the screen was correct, which it was, I always triple check info for everything. So they had to of went back in and messed with things to be getting everything wrong. Overall this was a terrible experience and I will not be using them again!!!!

I had a missing document which required a second appointment (on Tax Day). When I arrived at the office for the second appointment, I still didn't have that document! Jerry not only held my appointment, but Nancy actually suggested that I go to Office Depot to print the document. I ended up needing an extra hour to print it, and I walked out with my return completely done! I would definitely recommend.

Was into pick up taxes Jammie at desk very rude. I will need to have taxes done over again because they are not accurate. I waited to pick up until after vacation but asked how much was owed before and was not even told an accurate amount. We plan to pay every year so that is not the issue but when you are told one thing and find out something else it is frustrating. My husband also does A significant amount of work in the Detroit area but we have e never had to pay Detroit taxes always break even and actually this year probably worked less in Detroit than in years past and he has us owing so needless to say I will be sending in my return to not get penalized but have a appointment with my old tax man down state that I should have just gone to in the first place.

I had a horrible experience. My taxes are relatively easy so I usually just go to h and r block. My taxes were done correctly but the run around of payment made me crazy. I recently moved back from out of state. I filed my taxes as soon as I got here knowing I'd need the money as I was switching jobs and moving and having enough problems as it is my taxes were the last thing I needed issues with.After waiting 3 weeks I called to see why my funds have been held up being deposited onto my emerald card. The front desk told me things maybe taking a little longer due to IRS having pandemic related issues. Okay no worries.Another week later I received a call saying my tax money was being withheld pending payment. I paid on a debit card. So I'm thinking h and r block is withholding my taxes because of whatever mess up on their end. I guess the computer system messed up and never took the payment out of my account. I saw the pending charge on my online banking and assumed it just came out. I guess that wasn't the case. And also...why wasn't this looked into when i called and to see what the problem was a week ago? Now I'm on two doubles and don't have time to deal with the issue from work.Already annoyed, come to find out they haven't even FILED my return. After a TON of back and forth and a TON of attitude from everyone I spoke with. Stephanie, Kelly, and Margaret. They told me they had been trying to contact me for weeks and when I said I received no calls or messages they basically said well that's not our problem. Turns out they were calling the WRONG contact information. Anyway...feeling extremely annoyed and angry with the whole situation I finally came in to pay cash and was sure to keep the receipt. The front desk assured me my taxes would be filed that day. When I spoke with Kelly I explained the entire situation and my frustration with how the situation was handled. She assured me they would either get me a refund or a discount on next years filing. Nothing.Literally 3 days later I received another call from Kelly stating my taxes had yet to be filed PENDING payment. Turns out Margaret told her I didn't pay for my return to be filed that day (though I did and had proof with my receipt) so what nobody filed them? I also told Kelly I didn't want Margaret to have anything to do with my taxes after the whole problem occurred. Clearly that went right out the window. After 5 weeks I am still waiting for my return to be filed due to mistakes and lack of communication in the office. I called her back and asked if there was a director I could reach out to wanting a refund because I really felt I shouldn't be paying for my return to be filed due to all of the miscommunication and errors on the other end. She assured me there was no need and she would have them contact me. It's been three weeks Finally I have received my tax money on my emerald card. No director has ever reached out to me. No one has tried to reach out to make things right. The lack of customer service during such hard times is absolutely appalling.My hope is that somebody outside of the Lapeer office will read this and contact me. Apparently I and 4 other people had the same issue is what I was informed and I feel so sorry for anyone else who had to go threw what I went threw. I will never return to h and r block. I understand mistakes get made and sometimes things happen but they need to be handled with care and empathy. Not blame and accusations. Especially when the problem is on the businesses end.

I was given no information as to the price it was going to cost to do my taxes. Was sent up from and found that my taxes were 300$ to do, and I could have easily done them myself on Turbo Tax like I have in the past years. Will not go again. I had 2 W2, a school form and my insurance form.
