We had an extremely disappointing experience at Dykstra’s. My husband took his truck there for new tires and it was an absolute disaster. The truck was in perfect working order before the new tires, but after he got them installed, the truck started shaking when we were driving. He had to take it back four times to see if they could fix it and they couldn’t. They didn’t provide any solutions and they basically told us there was nothing they could do. They put the old tires back on and returned the truck in undriveable and unsafe conditions, which greatly impacted our holiday weekend camping plans (which we needed the truck for). We will never come back.

This place needs 5 more stars! 10 stars from me!
I had a tire pop off, a couple weeks ago, & had my car towed to Dykstra’s, & soon as I walked through the door, I got greeted, they smiled, & went over everything that needed to get fixed on my vehicle. Was very polite & very respectful & super friendly. Now, I’m a returning customer, & I’m glad with my decision! Just glad I can get back on the road & my kids can have a safe vehicle. I highly recommend Dykstra’s if you are looking for any kind of help with your car!

This was our second visit to Dykstra’s and we were just as pleased as with our first visit last April. When you have a 17 year-old vehicle that you love, you need a mechanic you trust and respect. Dykstra’s has earned both in just two visits.

Excellent service as always. I appreciate Mitch always contacting me to let me know of any issues that need immediate attention or that we should be planning in the future.

Do not trust these people. The transmission in my van went out on me and the closest shop was Dykstra. I am a woman and don't know a lot about vehicles and either Dykstra planned to take advantage of that, or they just try to screw everyone over. I have an extended power train warranty and I made sure Dykstra worked with my warranty company before leaving my van with them. When they looked at my van, this is nearly verbatim what they said to me, "Your transmission is definitely bad but the warranty company has pretty much agreed to pay out for it. There are also a lot of maintenance issues that need to be addressed. You need an oil change, front breaks, and new filters. That will cost you around $700." I let them know I was not at all interested in having those issues addressed as my fiancé can manage those issues for under $100. They said ok and moved on. The conversation continued as follows, "Warranty companies take a long time to pay out these claims, you're looking at months and they are going to give you the cheapest used transmission they can find. We recommend you buy one of our remaned transmissions. They run between $4,000 and $7,000." I explained that I am very poor and I just need whatever the warranty company will cover and anything else it requires to run. The mechanic said, "You are going to have out of pocket expenses no matter what you do. We need to buy a transmission and we don't sell parts to customers at cost. We need to mark all parts up 25%. You will need to pay that difference since the warranty company will only send us the cost of the cheapest transmission. You are looking at a minimumof $1,300 in parts and labor." I asked why they can't just take the parts my warranty company sends them and install them only charging for labor, which is covered in my warranty. If my warranty covers all parts and labor I didn't understand why I would need to pay so much out of pocket. I know there's usually some extra costs but that seemed like a lot. The mechanic said, "Your warranty company will not send us parts. They look up the cheapest parts and give us money to buy them." I was so confused. I might not know a lot about this stuff but that sounded wrong. So, I called the dealership that I bought my van from and they told me to call my warranty company to get all of the information. The man at my warranty company literally said, "The shop your van is at said they will not accept parts shipped from us and they will only accept money to buy their own parts." I immediately called my dealership back and made plans to get my van away from these crooks. I had my van towed 100 miles back to my dealership. My dealership worked with the warranty company and got a remaned transmission, a bunch of related parts, and labor covered. I paid nothing! My warranty covered it all and I didn't even have a deductible. Do not trust Dykstra Auto. I'm very fortunate I had the time and common sense to sort my situation out. Who knows how many people they have scammed.

Hansen, who was my mechanic, was great and more than accommodating, and if he was bothered by me watching him inspect my car and asking him questions he hid it well. I like that you can see them do the work unlike some other places ive went. I hate to say anything bad about the inspection because it was great customer service and respect the guy who did it. But it wasnt the best inspection. They failed to note the air in my brakes which you can feel when pressing the pedal. I brought it up when i scheduled the interview but they failed to note it (or anything i said besides that i want an inspection) and i forgot to bring it up when i arrived. And some reason they didnt feel like taking off the tires, which they would of seen my bad sway bar links, that another shop diagnosed, and who knows what else. They also said theres probably an oil leak somewhere but dont know where (based off oil stick not full). I know the car burns oil (ecotec engine problems). And wanted me to pay to use ink dye. So basically they do a basic inspection for a good price, but its not very in depth in spots theyre unsure about, and want you to pay more to further diagnose.
They did successfully diagnose the rumbling noise (bad wheel bearing on one side).
The people you talk to at the desk are efficient at what they do but pretty cold and were a little short with me. Was towards the end of the day and i can come off a little intense sometimes, so whatever, no biggie.
Im willing to give them another shot because i was impressed with the mechanic and the prices are pretty fair. I dont like the inspection process though.
