I went and got a couch and loveseat from this location. I told the store associate whose name is Josh to please set up my payments to whatever amount allowed me to pay it off in 6 months. He said he did just that. I made every payment on time and called around the 6-month mark to make sure my account reflected that I was nearing the end of payments. When I did this, I was informed that I was not and indeed had quite a bit of payments left. I informed that store associate that that was not what I was told by Josh when I first bought the furniture. I then received a phone call from Josh who stated it was his mistake and he entered or calculated wrong for my payments to reflect that it would be paid off in the 6 months. Due to this being his mistake he said that if I could just make x amount of payments to get it paid through what would've been the price had it been paid off in the correct time frame, that that would be good, and I'd be all set. As frustrating as that was because making those extra payments cut into my kids' Christmas, I did it anyway. Once I finished making those extra payments, I then called the store again and talked to Josh who said I was all set and removed my debit card information from the automatic payment system. A few weeks later I get a call for a missed payment. I explained the situation to whoever that store associate was and they said ok. Since then, they have been calling me almost every day with different associates saying I am behind on payments. The store manager named Roy also called and talked to me in circles explaining that I still owed a lot of money on the furniture, but he would take $250 and call it good. They are all a bunch of clueless scam artists trying to get money out of you any way they can, and I absolutely don't recommend coming to this place, especially this location!

Stole $140 from me, went in on December 22nd and put a deposit down on a ps5 but since we didn't have a copy of our lease, they wouldn't release the ps5 to us even after I paid the deposit. I called the next day to cancel that and get my $140 back, Josh has been the only one I've dealt with from the deposit to the phone calls up to the store. I called back on Jan 3rd because the money still hadn't come back, Josh said "Oh I'm so sorry it looks like it was never canceled". So Josh then canceled it after already telling me 10 days earlier that he canceled it then. It's been over another week and still haven't gotten my money back. I went to the store this morning and spoke with Josh he said when we talked on the 3rd he again forgot to cancel my deposit and refund my money. This is beyond infuriating, I just want my money back, we never got the ps5 from here we went somewhere else.

Self employment should not dictate how you pick and choose who you're willing to do business all because of my jobs not showing consistent and I could have proven bank statements and you guys didn't have any interest

I'm so disappointed with Rent-A-Center in portage mi. I've been with them for so many years and this time they stole from me. This is the reason why they said you need to be on autopay so they can steal from you so don't agree to autopay go into the store and pay cash. I will never get my stuff from them again

Our experience thus far has been pretty bad, they discriminate, and have false advertisement, they advertise 1¢ pays your first week, I paid it, then they turned around and said no two full payments are required to start.
