Chow Hound Pet Supplies
5097 Century Ave Suite A, KalamazooI came in tonight because two cans of Intuition cat food had black spots all over it. I was worried it was mold so I asked to talk to a supervisor. Ethan came right up and we chatted for a second. He explained that this was actually a chemical reaction but still provided different cans for me to take home.
After doing my research, he is correct!
He handled the situation very well and had another employee, Hailey, there with him.
Both were very, very kind and understanding.
High praises as I am a manager myself.
Kudos to the whole team for keeping the atmosphere very light and welcoming.
Ethan still took pictures to talk to his manager about them so the accountability part was there too. (Ps. Hailey had the most adorable pup too!)

PetSmart
5200 W Main St, KalamazooKaren in the grooming department was awesome! My cat is 18 years old and I was very nervous about getting him groomed for the first time (didn’t know cats need help with grooming as they age). She made me feel very welcome and treated my cat very well! She even adjusted my bill as I had chosen a more costly service than what he needed. Super awesome and I would definitely book an appointment with her again!

Friendship Animal Hospital
6058 S 12th St, KalamazooCouldn't have been a better experience! Amazing staff, clean and inviting office atmosphere, great care and commitment to their clients and the animals.
After several phone call to get my sick dog into a new vet (mine left the practice) I was giving up hope someone would help get him in. The receptionist, Tina was the first person I spoke to who actually offered help right away and suggestions. I was luckily able to get in the same week. I had amazing service by everyone that helped him and the vet (owner) couldn't have been better. Everyone was supportive and made my very stressful week easier. This small business is definitely impressive! I will be returning here for all my vet needs and highly recommending them to everyone.

Kalamazoo & Portage MI Animal Clinic
6303 Parkview Ave, KalamazooWe only transferred to this animal hospital about two months ago. He was a senior guy who suffered with several issues, the worst of which seemed to be anxiety. Our former vet didn't seem to want to address that problem for us. It was so out of control that we left them and tried VCA. They are so caring and kind and they helped us immediately. They gave him the anti-anxiety medication he needed. Unfortunately, it was a symptom of a bigger problem which was untreatable and when our sweet loving boy needed it. ,they helped us gently and mercifully put him to sleep. Before the vet did this , he read his chart and reassured us that we were doing the absolutely best thing for him. I can't recommend them enough.

Mosel Animal Clinic
413 W Mosel Ave, KalamazooMy dog had a lump on his leg that we were 'watching.' It started to grow and the vet said he did not believe it was a lipoma and it had to go now. We scheduled surgery, three weeks later or so the lump was removed and biopsied. It came back as a low grade sarcoma, rare in dogs. The vet gave the news in the best way possible, honest but hopeful. The tumor may not grow back. It may grow back. If it does, we will have to make a serious decision about his leg. My dog is middle age, not old but definitely not a young dog. The vet gave me a lot of hope that IF we have to cross that bridge, this is what we would expect and he gave me reassurance about the procedure. He was knowledgeable and kind, and again, Hopeful. If you ever have to receive bad (to really bad) news from a vet, Dr. Buckley would be the one I'd want to get it from. A week before Christmas, I cannot express how much his kindness means. And he was definitely right, that tumor had to go asap.
The cost for the surgery was reasonable, not as low as the previous vet but lower than most operating in the twenty first century. Lol.
My only complaint, there's always something I suppose... I don't like the candle in the waiting room. I have asthma and I don't tolerate strong fragrance in a small area. A great vet experience, candle excluded. :-)
I hope for many more years with this practice under the care of Dr. B.

VCA Oshtemo Animal Hospital
6303 Parkview Ave, KalamazooI have been taking my animals here for about 9 years now and initially it was for my cat who ended up having her leg amputated. I was blown away by how kind, compassionate, and caring they were during this time. Over the years I’d say that it’s been touch and go.. my payments are often declined for a monthly preventative medication for my dog and now I have the care club membership and my payments are often declined for that too.. which is my fault and I take responsibility for that- I truly do the best I can. The majority of their employees are amazing and so kind, especially Belle. She has never made me feel less than someone who can afford for their autopay to go through everytime. I always end up paying as soon as possible and I wish I had the means to always have my payments come out on the correct day. I really just wanted to take the time to leave a review because of the amazing customer service that Belle provides. I truly appreciate being treated with kindness and respect despite not always having the money when I am supposed to, it truly means so much to me- so these 5 stars are really for Belle, thank you! Also, my animals are always treated with care and I appreciate that very much.

Kalamazoo Cat Hospital
5263 W Kl Ave, KalamazooMy cat was recently seen by Dr. Hammel. I’ve never had a vet take such care with one of my pets; he took time to coax my cat out of her crate rather than just take her out, and he showed me how to help keep her distracted and happy while he performed his exam and gave her shots. My normally tentative cat was calm the whole time and didn’t run back to her crate as soon as she had a chance.
I also appreciated how he offered a non-medication solution for a behavioral issue that I raised but also acknowledged that medication could be appropriate.
This was my second visit; at my first, my cat was seen by Dr. McFarlan, who listened to my behavioral concerns, explained what might have been causing them, and offered a number of solutions (again, starting with non-medication options but mentioning medication may be a future option if there was no resolution).
The rest of the staff, receptionist(s) and vet assistants, that I’ve interacted with are all very kind as well.
