We have had a storage unit at Boxer Storage for the last 4 years. Boxer Storage took over about in the middle of that from a previous owner. It was a very smooth transition. We've been very happy. Anytime we've had a question, they always got back to us quickly. We've had no problems at all with the until and have always felt like our items were safe in their establishment.

We paid for a unit, and they told us the number of the unit, so we took a UHAUL full to unload. When we got there, the unit had a lock on it, so we called, several times, while we were waiting out in the bitter cold, blowing snow until someone finally called me back. They said that they were on the way to straighten it out for us, because I had my family there helping me with heavy stuff. After an hour of trying to find a different unit ,and being frozen we started to unload finally. Unfortunately, the "new" unit wasn't shoveled out, so we had to carry all of our bed stuff,dressers, tables, etc.,a house of stuff through 2 feet of snow. We were actually frozen- our jeans were literally frozen solid from above our knees down.After that horrible mistake that they made, everything has been great. It's a great, safe place that you can't get into without a code, so nobody can just drive in. I feel very satisfied with this storage facility...we know that everyone has mix ups, so we didn't want to give them a bad review, because it was just a boo- boo ,and we all make them, after all.

DONT USE THIS STORAGE COMPANY! Worst customer service. The lady I spoke to today was incredibly rude and kept cutting me off. This isn’t the first time Ive had issues with this place. Last summer I would try to call them every week to pay and they would never return my calls. I called them on Monday, have them a call back number and again, nothing. Their ‘manager’ who wouldn’t give me their name, has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. They told me 2-3 days to unlock my unit, it’s been almost a week and they still haven’t unlocked it. DONT USE THIS STORAGE UNIT.

2020 I rented astorage unit in Ionia (Smarter Storage on M-66) for 10 months. No office in Ionia. Office at Boxer Storage in Kentwood. BIG Surprise ! When I showed up to retrieve my contents, the account was closed and I was told that the unit was abandoned. I was told that the unit was found empty. I was not notified - this is standard process I was told. So my contents were stolen. I found out too late to react. No insurance on content provided by Boxer Storage. No cameras. Weekly drive by. BEWARE !

I have contacted boxer storage every month since I got the unit to fix the roof and it still isn’t fixed. Nobody ever calls me back either.

Inexpensive, 3 stars because I rented an extra unit that I needed for a short time, called to end the lease and am still being charged.

Smarter storage has a clean and secure facility. Always able to get ahold of someone who works there when I need to. I would highly recommend to anyone in the Ionia area.

One star because they don’t allow negative stars, this place has charged my sister three times in the past one month aside from the original rental and put a second lock on her unit. No one answers the phone, or responds to any problems. This kind of shoddy business management causes people to get overdraft fees, for over billing, won’t refund the overcharge, I would tell anyone who asked me about storage units to avoid this place like the plague!
