On Saturday May 28th I stopped at this location to pick up a few drinks before heading out for a Memorial Day Weekend trip up north. I was greeted by two friendly cashiers and joyful conversations of adult responsibility and well wishes for the holiday weekend. As I checked out (6:30am) I noticed I was overcharged for two of my drinks, they were to be 2/$4 per the sign and they rang up as $2.69/each plus deposit ($1.68 difference). I politely let the cashier know the drinks were to be $2/4 so $2.10 with deposit and due to the overcharging, I would like the correction along with $5 per the Scanner Law. It was at this time I never expected a short quick correction would take the turn it did and cause me to finally review this location. It was at this time the cashier mentioned she is not familiar with this process and unsure how to make the correction and the other cashier was also unsure, so she called the manager. She called the manager, Matt Lee, and let him know that a product did not scan properly and a customer was asking for the correction of the overcharged items and the $5 per Scanner Law. As they discussed, she handed me the phone to speak to Matt where I was not received with an apology but an argumentative person who wanted to convey he would not make the correction for the overcharged product but will do the $5 (as I mentioned it twice) and disclosed other products are also marked wrong. I was first taken back that I was speaking to someone who not only was admitting to illegal pricing but quite frankly an unprofessional interaction. It was at this time I handed the phone back and she provided the $5 and asked for my name and number (not sure why this would matter at this time) and I let her know to inform the manager to check up on the Scanner Law as someone else might be more determined and can take him to court for this interaction for not honoring the full Scanner Law. During this interaction (now hitting shy of 30 minutes!) my travels were now delayed along with causing anxiety and frustration on never having to explain myself the rare time I had to get a correction made. Overall, the place is clean, had a good mix of items to purchase, and decent location but given the unethical and possible illegal practices I am going to instead stay with my local gas stations instead when doing road trips. I would also highly recommend anyone that has stopped at this location in the last 30 days to check their receipts to make sure they are not being overcharged.Too Long; Did Read: I stopped at this location where the manager was unprofessional and refused to follow the scanner law and after mentioning the legal issues that I can follow he just provided the $5 after 30 minutes of what should have been a quick transaction. Not only did this cause me to be behind on my travel plans for the holiday and extreme anxiety, it made me feel uncomfortable and guilty of a mentioning a law that is to protect me and others.
