Went to the Imlay City location December of 22 to get a quote for a whole house. Everything from framing to finish material. The guy who helped me out was very helpful and would check on me periodically and let me know what was going on with pricing and would randomly send me an updated quote. Well last minute we had to back out of the build.
Fast forward to December 12, 2023 I find out that guy no longer works there. I was wondering why because he was so helpful. I sat down with someone else and he said he wants to double-check the other guys quote even though he was pretty spot on. I mentioned i had a goal of statyimg this build in June. He said with new years coming up he should have it after the new year. I contacted him to see how it was going and he goes good but need more time and said ok. I contacted him a few weeks later cause now I'm trying to get ready to apply for my loan. He gives me the framing part and said a couple days for the rest. A few days go by never heard from him so emailed him again he said need more time. I let it go for a month probably. I emailed him again and he said let me check my notes it should be done. It's a disgrace in there now and just talked to someone who went there recently they weren't very helpful. I don't know what had happened cause it used to be good. I'm not sure how you drop the ball on a 70k+ sale.

VERY DISAPPOINTED!!! Purchased Merillat kitchen cabinets from the Imlay City location. During my "Do It Yourself" project, I Literally dealt with 6 different Cabinet Dept. managers over a three year period. Only the first guy (who retired) knew what he was doing. I received my Merillat Natural Hickory cabinets and installed them a few months later as I was building the room myself. When I finally had the chance to add cabinet knobs, I noticed one of the cabinet doors was OAK, not Hickory. (See Photo) I went back to Mortimer and asked for a replacement. Everyone agreed Merillat has made a mistake, but Merillat NOR Mortimer Lumber would do anything about it! They Made ME purchase a new door to get what I originally ordered. This took MONTHS to complete, and three Cabinet Dept. employees, NONE of which would communicate with me, the customer. Mortimer would not accept responsibility for Merillat's Mistake. They put the cost of the replacement on ME. REALLY??? There was Numerous other issues throughout this cabinet ordering process: wrong door style, damaged (Destroyed) cabinets without inspection, etc. The only Good I can say about this location (with exception to ONE cabinet employee, who no longer works there) is All employees were polite and professional. They wouldn't help me solve this issue, but they kept there cool and did everything they could--with exception to owning up to their manufacture's mistake, and paying for it--to help me get my issue fixed...over months of me waiting. Lastly, NO COMMUNICATION was given from Any of these employees. It was Me who had to continually call to see what was going on and If the replacement cabinet door was in. They need to CLOSE the Kitchen Cabinet department in this location. They simply are Unable to deliver minimal customer service! GO ELSEWHERE FOR YOUR CABINET ORDERS!! This store has NO right to sell cabinets!

We used Mortimer for new counter tops. Salesman at Mortimer was very unprofessional and very poor customer service. We kept getting added cost above and beyond quote. They sub contracted to Kitchen Expo in Shelby. They showed up to install countertops and they were cut wrong. Waited 4 more days for them to recut. The piece of granite they cut looks like it’s 20 years old. It has chips in it and huge spots that look like it’s water stains. Neither business will make it right. Paid $3400 for very poor work and product. Never use either again. Lesson learned.Service: Kitchen remodeling

If I could leave a 0 I would. They never offered help, they advertise thing they don’t carry. Have goin in twice now looking for something and have had the same experience. The just stare at you.
