Normally the staff and store are well managed and have friendly employees who create a nice atmosphere. I will give 2 stars for those employees' efforts. Today on 9/30, I encountered a disgruntled employee by the name of Ginger. She was rude, unfriendly, unprofessional, and an overall terrible example of how you are supposed to conduct business in a professional setting. First, my total came to $4.71, and there is a $5 minimum to use a credit card, which I was unaware of at the time. She informed me of the policy in an unprofessional manner with a large emphasis on attitude instead of customer service. Then I purchased a 2 liter of soda and was ready to leave the store. I realized I had forgotten an item and omw back to the register to complete a second transaction I realized the store offered cold 2 liters of soda so I swapped my warm 2 liter of Coca-Cola for a cold 2 liter of Coca-Cola. Upon returning to the line and waiting to conduct my second transaction, I noticed Ginger was staring at me with a rather negative expression on her face. She then proceeded to tell me, "What did you just do?" I replied, "I swapped my warm 2 liter of Coca-Cola for a Cold 2 liter of Coca-Cola". Ginger followed up by saying, "You have to ask permission before you do that." I complied and agreed with her statement. Then Ginger said, "Where did you put the warm 2 liter?" I said, "I placed it with the other 2 liters." Ginger replied by saying "Move the 2 liter to the top of the refrigerator." I didn't say anything and moved the 2 liter to the top of the refrigerator. I got in line, and when it was my turn to be served, I said, "You should be nicer to your customers, we spend our hard earned money here." Ginger replied by saying "You should mind your God dam business" (this was said in a completely horrible manner and with the purpose of invalidating me and my importance as a customer of their establishment). I asked for Ginger's name which she only gave me after asking multiple times. I was taken back by how nasty her tone was, especially when she said, "Mind your own God dam business." I have had great experiences at this store, and the owner should really take some time to educate this staff member on how she is supposed to treat patrons of an establishment she is representing. By far, it was the worst interaction with a store clerk in my 6 years living in the area. Ginger portrayed poor business practices Horton Depot should disassociate their establishment from such unrefined and absolutely disgraceful behavior.

Its a small "party store". Essentially you can write it up as a gas station, but without the gas, and with a larger selection of liqueur. Its got your basics of lottery, alcohol (beer, some wine, and hard liqueur like vodka, gin, whiskey, etc), and your basic foodstuffs if youre around but dont want to drive all the way to Jackson to go to Walmart. Convenience has a higher price tag but compared to gas cost to drive all the way to the next town for a gallon of milk or a loaf of bread, its not a bad option. The owner, Ron, is also a pretty laid back guy and from what I hear, is pretty good to work for. Overall, its a small in and out corner store in the middle of a nowhere town but saves you a trip to Jackson or Jonesville and the stuff you can get here is just like everywhere else (though limited in stock)
