I could have Died
I took my Santa Fe in for a tire rotation and asked them to check the brakes. They told me my brakes were tight and they had to use a pry bar to spread the caliper apart.to check the pads. WARNING you do not use a pry bar on a car with an electronic parking brake! The next morning we left on a 500 mile trip and stopped after an hour at a rest stop and I noticed a lot of heat coming off the left rear wheel. Next we stopped at a tire store and they inspected the wheel and wondered how I got there since the rotor was over 700 degrees because the parking brake was dragging for the last 50 miles. The mechanic said this could have started a fire with disastrous consequences. Apparently these boys at Northern do not know how to work on wheels with electronic parking brakes since they told me that this happens about 20 times a year when they plug the cable back into the caliper! I had to buy a new Hyundai caliper for $600 and have it installed by a reputable shop in Kalkaska. I would not recommend this shop, I could have bought new tires instead of a new Caliper!

I was out of town and needed my dodge caliber repaired. The local Chrysler dealer said it would be 2 to 3 weeks before they could even look at it. Northern Auto had it fixed within a couple of days. They were friendly, the repair was done quickly and for a great price. If I need any work done in the future, it will be here.

Are they still in business? I called daily for several days during listed business hours. Left voicemails never got a call back. Assuming they are out of business.

This is the best kept secret in Benzie County. I have been taking my vintage car here for years. The service is great and the prices are very reasonable.

I was really pleased with the brake replacement they did on my car. I think the workmanship is excellent, and the price was fair. I had visited them in the past year for a tire repair, and I found the same at that time.

Worst. They just keep saying bring it back. Done. Go to JPM for auto and Kinneys for tires.
