Oysters were phenomenal!! And the sauces with them were the best ive had. Lobster eggrolls were amazing. Great food! Table at the top of the stairs was a bit of high traffic area, but otherwise everything was lovely.

First of I would like to say compliments to the chef!! This place came recommended by the fellow yelper and it did not disappoint. We made a reservation for Saturday evening, place was not packed we were seated in the downstairs area by the bar clean neat decor with NOLA vibes. Our server was great she recommended the oysters based on your preference and suggested the beef tartar as an appetizer. For main dish we opted for shrimp risotto and chefs special that evening was sea-bass with crusted vegetables. Outstanding fish was buttery and flaky and risotto had ton of flavor. Dessert was an interesting combination of sponge cake soaked up with caramelized pears just wow!! They also have a live jazz music upstairs. Great experience absolutely worse a drive. Will be back to try more dishes

For the cost, the value simply isn't there. The space is very nice but the dining experience and the food wasn't on the level expected for the seafood that was on the menu. Drinks were good but it's not a place I would go to for drinks exclusively which leaves it stunk in the middle for me. It may be an option for a very, very occasional meal in a place I won't frequent but I wouldn't consider this a top choice for going regularly. Grosse Pointe Park has added a number of new options over the last 4-5 years and it's disappointing that none seen to really, really stand out for what they do.

Our dinners were excellent, a bit pricey but that’s what I get for not asking how much the special cost. One guest ordered soup and an entree but they arrived at the same time (?) Lots of staff and bartenders but it took at least 15 minutes each time we ordered a drink. $3 upcharge for 1(one!) blue cheese olive. I’ll never make that mistake again. The music was great but hard to hear from where we were sitting and a very loud table next to us.

We went to brine for first time. It was not a pleasant experience. We were seated at first table by the door. When we asked the man who seated us to move, he said no. When there were 3 open tables further back. We also thought we'd get a table near the music. The music is upstairs and we were on first floor. We ordered an entree, it was good but small potions. Not sure if we will go back.

Came here to celebrate a birthday. Oysters were very good and that's about where the good ends. Our server didn't know much about the types of alcohol they had and was constantly looking things up. Simple question like what is your well whiskey, or having a different kind. Had to flag her down quite a few times to order apps then main entree's. Food was just ok. Lobster spring roll was really good, and the mini taro tako taco was delicious. But like the menu says, mini. That thing was 1-2 bites. The mini breathing rock slider was very good also and a bit bigger than the taco. The Paella Fritters were absolutely disgusting and tasted like old seafood. We sent it back because there was no way they were fresh. Fried Seafood Rissole was delicious also to finish up our appetizer tasting. Entrees were good but nothing memorable, except the scallops were perfectly cooked. In the end the price doesn't justify the service and food imho. We would go back for oysters and espresso martini's. Other than that it's an ok place.

Wow! Amazing ambiance, service, cocktails, and food! We came here for Valentine's Day and were not disappointed. Our server gave us great recommendations for the oysters (selection listed in images) and it did not disappoint. Everything was cooked perfectly, we will definitely be coming back.

A neighborhood gem. A great ambiance that puts you in New Orleans. At least, that is the vibe I got. The menu offered a diverse selection of fresh seafood. Everything we ordered was expertly prepared and bursting with flavor. Each dish showcased the chef's skill and dedication to quality. They do have a limited menu for those who don't like seafood. They had a few specials. The price was reasonable considering the quality of everything. Definitely going back.

Parking meters across the street are only good for 30 minutes. The restaurant didn't have Southern Comfort for my drink. The food was good, but I would call it eclectic, somewhat unusual, very yuppy. Limited menu. Six different types of oysters were amazing. The pot pie was a bowl full of meat and veggies (good), but thex crust was just a thick piece of round croissant laid on top, and it was not flaky nor what I expected. The shrimp was encrusted with a layer of sesame seeds so thick we scraped it off. Surf and turf was spaghetti with beef and seafood meatballs, definitely different, and the meatballs were good. We also had lobster spring roll and the shellfish bisque, which were good. All said, a very expensive outing and not really a great experience we would want to repeat, although it was busy so some people enjoy it.

Best Brunch in Metro-Detroit! By far. And I'm only limiting it to that because we haven't been here yet for dinner. But we've done the brunch several times now and keep coming back for the chef's unique preparations, constant innovation, and terrific ingredients. Our first trip to Brine we got into a discussion with him about the provenance of the grits! The chef was happy to share. That's cause this is one special grit friends - and not a Quaker Quick Grit. The fabulous shrimp and grits here shines as a result. If you ask, you discover all sorts of interesting, sourcing information. The coffee is from the very good purveyor James Oliver of Detroit; the oysters are from different places weekly. This past Sunday, they were all of northeast origin. One, I noted was from Truro in Cape Cod, where we've spent occasional summers. Like any good chef, Brine's has the entrées of the moment on the day's menu but others which are just as good held in reserve. Last Sunday I had the crabcake Benedict while my friend had the English breakfast with nicely browned pork belly. But in weeks past we've had The duck croquette, the Shak Shuka, and we've sampled others with our eyes as they've breezed past us that look just as good. So come have some oysters, sit at the bar in a carefully curated New Orleans pub atmosphere, have a spicy bloody Mary or two and immerse yourself in a unique experience of high-quality food, preparation, and great stories to boot!

It’s beautiful. Truly the design of the space is gorgeous. The staff lingered in view of the guests which is not what I expected coming in. Our oysters arrived before our very basic cocktails did despite the dining room being less than half full. The staff did not return to check for drinks or additional needs often enough and when they did it seemed awkward and not a polished experience. For all the buzz around I had hoped for more. The price point was very reasonable. I hope to be back in the warmer months for drinks and apps in an open air space, not the dining experience we had wanted.

It's really astonishing how crucial music choice is to a restaurant and yet, so many leave it to chance or perhaps a manager potentially going through a breakup to determine what is playing in the dining room... My last trip to Brine was utterly marred by the poor choice in music on a dreary winter Wednesday night a few weeks ago. I had had a day and was very hungry and thirsty and wanted to treat myself so I headed to Brine. I was ready to throw down and have several cocktails and dishes and just enjoy the evening. The staff and ambiance were welcoming at first... but then I noticed the music just as was having the first sip off my drink. The saddest Jewel song ever. I even mentioned it to the bartender, like, me a single lady, out wanting to eat, drink, and be merry, doesn't want to listen to Jewel whimper about how her ex hates it when she leaves the light on. Does a couple on a date want to hear that either? A birthday party? Unlikely, though those people are maybe able to tune it out. I sometimes wish I had that superpower. The next song, even worse, but maybe went well with my underwhelming burger and fries... or perhaps the music made my Parisian Gnocchi and Crab Sauce not taste as good as I remember the last time I came here? I already know that I need to box my food because there is no way I can stay for whatever song is going to come after Corrine Bailey Rae's "Like A Star" (which, is a good song, just it's not keeping me at the bar ordering more drinks). I box my stuff, down my drink, and don't foresee ever coming here again because the trust is gone.

Good oysters, attentive bar service. Unfortunately, two dishes we tried were wildly unbalanced - the tuna crudo was extremely salty and the mussels in white wine & garlic easily had 12 cloves of practically raw garlic in the small cocotte. Really disappointing given how many 5 star reviews this place had. We left hungry and annoyed to have wasted our time.
