The owner of this place was incredibly rude, she sounded annoyed at me, like she was confused why I was calling. First I told her I live in south Michigan and was wondering if she could explain to me the adoption process and what ferrets she has for adoption, because I’m not going to drive 3 hours just to get to the shelter and not be able to get a ferret, anyways I also told her I’m looking for a ferret between the ages 2-3 because I have an older ferret who doesn’t play with my younger ferret anymore. She proceeded to say stuff like “Why did you get ferrets who are two different ages?” And “Older ferrets don’t have enough energy so it’s not okay to get a young ferret when they can’t play” so I said “I know that’s why I’m looking to adopt a younger ferret” and she started saying again, “why did you get two ferrets who are two different ages that’s not okay” and I said “I did get two younger ferrets, but one of them died, why are you assuming things about me that you don’t know, why are you getting so mad at me I just want to adopt a ferret. Isn’t the whole point of this place to find homes for ferrets? And when I told her I lived in south Michigan she said “well if you can’t come to the shelter then what do you want me to do, ship one to you??” in a snarky voice and so I said again, “No I just want to know how the adoption process works and what ferrets you have for adoption.” Then she said “well I have 68 ferrets for adoption so how do you want me to do this?” In a snarky voice again, and I said “I told you what I was looking for, one ferret who is between the ages 2-3” It’s like she doesn’t want people to adopt her ferrets or something. Anyways, she started back on saying that I shouldn’t have gotten a younger ferret and an older ferret and I said again, “I did get two young ferrets but one of them died.” “I couldn’t afford her surgery.” And then she started saying “You shouldn’t get a ferret if you can afford surgery” “I would never let you adopt from here!” And just acting like I’m this horrible person who shouldn’t own ferrets. So after that I got upset and started crying because she doesn’t know anything about me, I have bad anxiety and depression and my ferrets are my best friends, yeah I can’t afford a $7,000 surgery but that doesn’t mean I don’t take them to the vet to get medicine if they need it. I take care of my ferrets as best as I can and give them lots of love and attention. People like me who have depression and anxiety do better when they animals because animals listen to you, they play with you, they make you laugh and help you to not feel alone. Just because I can’t afford an expensive surgery doesn’t mean I shouldn’t be allowed to have ferrets, or that I don’t give my ferrets a good life. What happened to my ferret was fast and unexpected, it broke my heart that I couldn’t save her, but that doesn’t mean she didn’t have a good life. I see many people who are heartbroken because they can’t afford their animals surgery and if you’re one of those people please know that I understand how you feel and that if something unexpected happens to your pet and you can’t afford the surgery please don’t think of yourself as a bad pet owner or that you shouldn’t have gotten your pet. Its incredibly sad losing one of your best friends and I can’t believe this lady made me feel even worse about what happened with my ferret than I already did. Again all I wanted was a friend for my young ferret to play with but the call ended really bad after I got upset and started crying. Because who talks to someone like that? It felt like this lady had no empathy whatsoever. All she had to say was “I’m sorry we don’t allow adoptions to people who can’t afford surgeries” or something. I hope she knows the call could have gone way smoother if she was actually nice from the beginning and tried to understand and help me professionally instead of being snarky and immediately assuming and judging me.

Phone was answered promptly, Dee was very helpful and understanding. When she was unable to help me, she gave me several other rescues to call closer to my area.Very helpful and kind.Dee made it clear her job was to care for and help the ferrets. She also gave me good advice about ferret food and other needs to take care of while the animal was with me.

Dee rocks! She's a total blessing! Anyone who feels that she is rude or were denied adoption - there's a damn good reason!

I have never been here. I want another ferret and have been looking for a couple years. I have one cat who had a ferret friend and it passed away and I got her a cat and she never really forgave me.

Dee is absolutely amazing. She took in a stray ferret we found running around our neighborhood and showed us her wonderful set up to ease our minds. These ferrets have the best care with Dee until they find their forever home. She’s doing an amazing thing and has a big heart ♥️

Highly recommend this rescue. Not only for adopting, but also to learn ferret care and proper diets. Some people getting their feelings hurt when they aren't approved for adoptions because the rescue HAS to think of the ferrets safety and well being first. If they feel you and your home aren't the right fit,and not ready to adopt a ferret, then learn from that and research more. It's not personal, stop taking things that way. It's about the FERRETS! Yes,you have alot of love to give, but love doesn't supply money to properly care for them. If you're not approved, there's a legit reason,it's not the rescue being rude,so please stop saying that.

They are extremely rude to people trying to adopt ferrets and they don’t appreciate loving parents to ferrets. They have poor customer service and have no regards for human emotion.
