I was selling my home in a different state and needed to find a new one quick. My realtor there was a rock star and looked for the BEST agents in the Grand Rapids area. He found the Smallegan team and I couldn't be happier. Jill Dugan helped us get an offer accepted within a week and a half, after showing us houses coming in the morning, in the evening, or right after a company party at the beach. She did whatever she could to get us eyes on the properties we wanted. When we were not available she even went and checked out a few herself and took videos to see if they were worth following up on. Mike also attended some of the showings and gave his advice throughout the process. They also provided us with the names of vendors for all parts of the process (sometimes even multiple options) while encouraging us that we could find our own. No shady business, no pushing us ways we didn't want to go, just doing their best to get us the home we wanted, at a price we wanted, with as little hassle as possible. Thanks again, team.

I cannot recommend Jim Hocking enough! I was put in contact with Jim by way of a friend's referral and it was the best thing that ever happened to my home purchasing journey. At the time, I had been working with a flashy downtown agent who did not have my best interests in mind, suggested a very unequipped mortgage lender, and left me with a very negative feeling about the entire home purchasing process in general. Boy, what a breath of fresh air Jim was. The very first thing he did was walk through each of the types of documents involved in the home purchasing process so that nothing could take my partner and I by surprise. He also introduced me to a an absolute rockstar of a lender who continued to overperform on his already stellar promises throughout the close. Jim was extremely attentive in our search process that lasted several months, never wavering in his optimism and offering encouragement throughout the gauntlet of putting offers on houses in the current market. One of the things I appreciated the most about having Jim as a realtor was his incredible wealth of knowledge, both in the current market(he provided extensive comp reports to make sure we were putting in competitive but value driven offers), but also in his expertise when it came to looking at houses and having a knack for spotting potential issues for a home's future maintenance costs that saved us more than once from overpaying for a home that would require serious repairs. Once we finally received the incredible news that our offer had been accepted, Jim continued to work diligently on our behalf assisting us with inspection recommendations and scheduling, negotiation with the listing agent to reduce our closing costs, looking through county records to answer property boundary questions we had, and more going above and beyond what I would have expected from an agent. I can't imagine what this process would have been like without his assistance and I highly recommend him as an agent who truly looks out for you!

We worked with Erik Larson for about 4 months, looking for our forever home and selling our current home. I can’t say enough about Erik. Personable, always accommodating and knows his profession. He took us to about 18 homes, from Ludington to Holland, until we found IT. He always had our back and we became almost like family. We worked with Bailey Budnik. He was prompt, informed, and helpful. From meeting us last minute to help craft our offer so we could submit it before we left town to calling in a roofer himself to quote repairs when the inspection revealed we would need to update the roof sooner rather than later, Bailey cared about making the process smooth and getting us what we needed to land our first home!

We just bought our beautiful home thanks to our realtor. it was really a pleasure working with him on our shopping journey. Despite on the tough market he made it possible for us to get everything we wanted. I would 100% recommend Jim as anyone's realtor. Lots of realtors try to just sell you a home, as Jim becomes really picky to what he's selling you as to what his client needs/wants are. Also, don't worry if your yet not connected with a mortgage company and everything that comes with. Jim & his team got you covered with all the right contacts.
