This placed used to be wonderful. We brought all of our animals here and they provided great care prior to changing ownership. I’m not quite sure how they still have license after our experience and reading all the reviews.
I brought my ill cat in after arriving home from ten days on the road for work and discovering that she was yellow, not eating, lethargic and had lost weight. Since I hadn’t been home, I had no way of knowing what her urinary habits had been. We arrived around 8:30 and waited until 11:00 to be brought into a room. Prior to even entering the room, not having answered any basic questions whatsoever, a receptionist came out to the waiting area and handed me a list of tests they wanted to run on my cat, totaling around $400.00. Eventually, we were led into a room and the vet came in. I spent another 30 minutes dancing around with her, trying to understand where these expensive tests would even lead us. Surgery? Treatment? Antibiotics? Clearly, there are unknowns. Understandably. But my instincts told me this was a money grab. We ran FIV tests and eventually she prescribed amoxicillin. Two hours and 300.00 later we left. Nothing about urine was ever mentioned.
The cat was improving and we had run through the antibiotics. I was spending more time with her and realized, she wasn’t urinating in the box, she was straining to pee and she was spending a lot of time trying. I called and told them I thought she actually had a prolonged UTI. I was hopeful we could run another round of treatment since it was quite clear now what was going on. The tech read the notes back to me which included “…agreed that if no improvement, would return and hard decisions would be made.” She said the Dr. would review and call back in 24 to 48 hours. She also said “well when you came in, nothing about urine was mentioned and no tests were run on the urine.” Because no one ever asked and quite honestly, I hadn’t been with the cat to even know. But, no one in the office ever saw the cat before handing me a list of pricey tests which didn’t include a urinalysis. I was leaving town again for several days and wouldn’t he able to spend hours and hours waiting at that clinic again. It seemed based on the notes, they were committed to one course of action. Knowing I’d be bringing her to her death if we returned there, we quickly scheduled a virtual vet visit with an online vet clinic. The first thing that vet asked was why urine tests weren’t run. She immediately prescribed medication for a complex uti,
After a few days of another antibiotic, the cat is doing much better. We will bring her to a legitimate vet when we run the course of antibiotics prescribed. But, we will never go back to this place. I probably wouldn’t bring a dead animal here, most certainly not a live one.

I was a walk in and was told the estimate wait time which was accurate. Dr. Marr was so kind and understanding. She listened thoroughly to my concerns even though I overwhelmed her with 8 little kittens and their mother. She was empathetic and she was up front about prices and options. I could only do the bare minimum according to my funds. My financial situation is very tight right now and I need two root canal’s in two days. She gave me the best option for my situation and that was a huge blessing. I HIGHLY recommend Red Barn. Caring staff. She even gave me a much needed hug! I had such a hard day and my sister had to put down her horse today too. Life is so hard and my anxiety was high and they just made it a great experience for me. I’m so appreciative and thankful for them. Every place I called were booked out for two weeks or more. I’m so thankful that they offer walk ins.

My vet in Barry County suggested I come here. I arrived at 10:00 (they are open until 12:00) and was told they were not taking any more patients. I will never refer anyone to come here!!!

My dog lost her life Due to the neglect of being diagnosed wrong. After bringing her to another vet a short time later For a second opinion due to no change in her health. It was found out that the wrong leg was x rayed and given a diagnosis on a leg that was completely healthy, Mean time the leg that was never x-rayed that was supposed to be x rayed could have been amputated and saved her life. But because she wasn't diagnosed properly. I lost my dog. RIP MY SWEET KARMA ?

So glad I found this place! My cat is doing much better since he was seen yesterday. Wait was shorter than I expected, and once we got back there treatment was prompt.

I brought my sick cat in three weeks ago now. He was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection, and prescribed oral doxycycline.
While at the appointment, a vet tech came in to get my cat and take him for a blood test. She picked him up and when he clung to her she screeched. I asked if she was okay, and she said yes, he “scared her”. Please find another job if you get frightened by a six pound cat.
He finished his round of antibiotics, but is still sick. I called in to see if another antibiotic could be prescribed. I had to wait two days for an answer, and was told he’d have to come back in to be seen. He was just there. He was just seen. He’s sick with the same illness as before. Two days and that’s the best answer you could come up with?
This seems more like a money grab for exam fees than anything. I will not take another four hours out of my day to stand in line to wait for my cat to be seen. He’s been sick for over a month now, and will continue to be until he can get in with our regular vet. Thank you for nothing, Red Barn. $240 down the drain for a cat that is still sick.
And by the way, my tiny cat was more afraid of you, than you were of him. Grow up.

All around horrible service. Especially Rebecca Brockman 1. Front desk doesn't quote you or break down the cost of each thing they're charging you for. You have to basically get it out of them. 2. Wait time ! We did walk-in, and we were estimated an hour in a half wait time. We did receive a message informing us our place was coming up in line... only to wait another 30 minutes. 3. Meeting Brockman, was horrible she kept pushing for additional services and when questioned about them she would get visibly agitated. Don't inform if you don't have the composure to do so. She was aggressive on her opinions. Not a medical professional in my opinion.
