Purchased an upcycled billboard tote from Fresh Thyme last year made by this company, was so excited to see it was both locally made and woman owned! The tote itself has become our #1 used item for running our two kids around. The billboard material one is completely waterproof (great for after swim-lessons and the beach) and it's a great size. I love it so much I just ordered another one. This company is everything I love to see in a business. Thank you!!

Public Thread is a super cool, woman-owned business that creates items from leftover industrial textiles and other material that would otherwise be thrown into a landfill. I attended an event over the summer that had a small market set up, and Public Thread was there with some products. I bought a "cube" made of woven fabric that's lined with upcycled billboard material that is water resistant and easy to clean - just wipe it off with a damp cloth. I use this as a travel dopp kit to hold my toiletries and makeup. The fabrics they use are all different prints, which makes it fun to browse their inventory as it's always changing. Public Thread doesn't currently have a public storefront, but you can find some of their items at the marketplace at Pack Elephant downtown by the Studio Park plaza, or you can order online from their website. I love the large duffel bags and small cross body bags. Public Thread items would make a great gift for the holidays, or any time!

The intersection of design, innovation, and recycling at Public Thread is pretty cool. Their facility houses production, materials, and stock, with their end products created right on site in Grand Rapids. A wide array of remnant and surplus textiles offer inspiration to their designers and Public Thread creates sustainable, stylish goods as a result. If you want to support US-made products and fair wages, buying through Public Thread is a good place to start.

Our family bought some masks from Public Thread and we are thoroughly impressed with the quality and fit (and the nose piece is padded!) - not to mention that everything is made from UPcycled materials helping our planet!! Definitely will stop in again and check out some other products!

Great local business that is helping get fabric that would be thrown into the landfills and making things out of them. They have adorable masks, purses, laptop bags, little wallets. Whats better than a local business that is also trying to help the environment and working with community outreach programs.

I love my face mask lanyard, no more lost face masks. The face mask is also amazing, it never slips off my nose like other masks, it also has a washable filter!
